This is two fold...
1) What will be your first drink after baby is born
2) CLICKY POLL - Will you drink to celebrate your baby being born (i.e. glass of champagne at the hospital)?
First Drink After Baby is Born? 190 votes
Yes, I am having something to drink as soon as the baby is born or shortly thereafter
No, I'll wait a week or more before having my first drink
Re: First Drink After Baby is Born?
And I am really looking forward to champagne for New Year's Eve!
While I am eager to have a glass of wine (or a margarita, mojito, martini, mai tai -- wtf is up with me and drinks beginning with the letter "M"?), I'm going to have a lot of stuff on my plate when the babies are first born so I'm probably going to want to keep a clear head. Plus, I'll be just starting out breast feeding, so I'll have to take that into consideration.
With that said, I'm pretty sure I'll have my first drink within a couple weeks of their birth....once we can get a routine sort of going and I know what to expect.

1. Honestly, I would love a margarita. Tequila & figuring out newborn twins probably isn't the best combo though. Definitely up for a good beer, or some Pinot.
2. The hospital where I'll deliver serves sparkling juice in champagne glasses the night before you're discharged lol. I'm sure we'll have a celebratory toast when we get home
It's twin girls!! Born on 11-2-14!

The girl who taught my twin class said the hospital used to give champagne to all the moms and said it helped with nursing. I'm sure liability prevents it now but I wish that still happened
Also have sushi coming to the hospital on day two. Yay!

Beautiful baby girl born 11.24.14
I am very much looking forward to that first ice cold beer once this baby is out.
After having DS, a few days after getting home I poured a glass of wine. It took me like 3 days to finish it!
Honestly, my first drink will probably be wine on Thanksgiving.
my happy boy
After that...probably a margarita or strawberry daiquiri. I don't drink really, just occasionally have one of those when I go out to eat.
I voted SS....it will totally depend on how I am feeling. If I feel sick, exhausted, or just plain blah....beer will not make me feel better.
If I feel healthy and happy, then I will most likely indulge in a nice cold beer when we get home and get settled. Might be a couple days...a week...3 weeks..
