Blocked duct?

So I think I have a blocked duct? I have a lump on the top of my breast and it is sore, especially if I am close to needing to pump. I believe the best thing is to just make sure I am emptying out my breast each time.... Anyone else have experience with this? This might have been asked before but I am on mobile so I couldn't look. Thanks!

    If it is a blocked duct, just keep pumping/nursing. It'll suck, but that's the best way to work it out. If you need to nurse through it, try to orient LO such that his/her chin is pointed toward the sore spot. This may mean you need to put him/her flat on his/her back, and position yourself on your knees over baby (super awkward). it's weird, but it really helps.

    also, cold and hot compresses and steamed cabbage leaves offer relief.

    For a block, heat is better. When you shower, massage the area. Applying a warm compress and massaging just before feeding helps stimulate the flow and keep massaging while baby is eating. Try to offer that side as frequently as you can.
