Planned B failed! pregnant and nervous!

So, I took plan b 24 hours after unprotected intercourse and here I am still pregnant. Excited, nervous, concerned for the development of my baby. Will be seeing doctor soon. Anyone else take plan b and still fall pregnant?

  • Your baby should be fine. The purpose of plan b is to prevent you from ovulating, so either it didn't work or you were already pregnant.

I wouldn't worry about the baby's development just because Plan B failed (it's just a higher dose of the same synthetic hormone contained in regular birth control pills). Further, even if you had actually conceived before you took Plan B, numerous studies have shown that taking Plan B or the pill accidentally during early pregnancy does not increase the risk of birth defects or complications (although continuing to take these during your pregnancy certainly can).
  • Baby will be fine, don't worry.

I wish you the best and hope you embrace your pregnancy!

  • Plan b is specifcally designed to be healthy for a baby thats already implanted. But make sure you're taking care of you too. It can be a really emotional situation. We are here for you and I am sending lots of encouragement. Try to stay true to yourself. I agree with those that said go see your doc asap. Normally they'll try and delay a first ob appt. Until 9 weeks so just tell the scheduler that your having concerns and they should move your appt up.

  • That is very scary. I would be concerned about the development of the baby as well. I really hope everything turns out ok. I hope in the future you are more responsible and don't rely on Plan B as birth control.

Excuse you, lol. You don't know anything about my personal situation and to make a comment like that is very judgemental. Smdh.

Im sorry if that sounds harsh to you. You stated that you had unprotected sex and then took Plan B. Yeah, I know that's what its there for, however I also think that you (meaning everyone) should take more responsibility with their bodies. Way to many people use it as a form of birth control. Maybe that's not your case. If you don't want to be pregnant than don't have unprotected sex. You are on a public forum airing your situation. Your going to receive some level of judgment. I can imagine that you are nervous being pregnant after taking it.  I sympathize with that and I truly hope everything works out for you and your little bean.

No, she's right. You don't know what happened and she doesn't have to tell you. I do know, however, that I have used Plan B when my regular birth control method failed, and if I had talked to internet strangers about it, I might have just called it "unprotected intercourse." Because it was, ultimately, and I don't necessarily want to get into the specifics on the internet. Take your soapbox somewhere else.

@KristelFowler you should ask your doctor if you're worried, but your baby should be fine. Best wishes to you for a happy, healthy pregnancy!

Ummm no. If the condom broke and you used plan b you would not come on here and say "l had unprotected sex", for the sake of not sharing intimate details with internet strangers. That doesn't make sense.
The girl came here to vent her worries. I said I hope everything works out for her and I meant it. I'm sorry you disagree with how I "took" her post, but I'm not going to argue with you over it. So you can step if your soap box. She doesn't need a hero. She is capable of and did speak for herself.

  • @piedpiper07‌ , it's a back up form of birth control. Not meant to be used in place of traditional birth control.
@opheliacantswim‌, having un protected sex is not an accident. It's an on purpose.

Oh, my bad. Clearly you know better than I what details of my sex life I like to tell strangers about. Carry on telling us all who we are and what we do in our bedrooms, then.

FWIW, OP never uttered the sentence "I had unprotected sex." She simply characterized the sex as unprotected, which in my opinion could describe an accident. Not that it's my place to care.

Yes, @Apollo11235‌ what you claim makes perfect sense.
Also, at this point I'm more concerned that 5 people actually "liked" the following comment:

"Also, @kimmarie1105, you may not have meant to be judgmental, but saying "if you don't want to be pregnant then don't have unprotected sex?" Umm, accidents happen. Nothing is foolproof."

I seriously have never heard a dumber comment in all my life. This can't be the mentality of this board.

  • Ladies! Can we act like it? Yes this is a public forum, but it is for real women to speak about their real issues, and if you don't have an answer for this woman's question...Keep your comments to yourself! Anywho, I think you will be fine, if anything the doctor will be able to test see some issues that may arise and discuss your options with you. Good Luck sweetie!!
  • Stopped in to support OP.

I have used plan B before as well, because of a failed condom. Not that I need to explain why I used it, because that's completely irrelevant.

Like most PPs have said, your baby should be fine. Good luck to you and I hope everything works out.
