Does the Chicco Keyfit 30 car seat not breath and get too hot? Is there a certain cover that helps?

I have started looking at different car seats and was set on the Chicco Keyfit 30, but I have been reading a lot reviews about people's babies getting too hot and really sweaty. Some even say their child has gotten rashes from it. I did read that certain colors/cover options for it are better than others for breathability. Anyone experience this? or know which cover option is the most breathable?

I've never had an issue with ours. We live in Michigan though so the sun isn't as hot here as in some areas.

My sister used it with her LO here in Texas and never had an issue with it. It is the one I plan to get - just having a hard time finding a color/pattern I like.

We loved ours and plan on using it this time around too.

I'm in Colorado and my son was born in early June and we never had a problem.

This is all making me feel better about it, thanks! What cover/color option do you have? I have read that the green (Midori) cover breaths the best.

I live in Southern California and had no AC with DD and she never had a problem. We actually just bought the KeyFit 30 zip this weekend

We also live in Michigan and never had an issue. Ours is even a dark color and my daughter was born in the summer and wasn't too hot.

I have the elm.

I am a little surprised to hear one breathes better then the others. I thought the only difference was the color.

@ScarletOflaherty‌ did/do you have issues with the base warping at all? I'm in south Florida & have had all kinds of plastic things melt/warp in my car

I used this one with DD and never had a problem. We live in south texas where temps are in the 100s during the summer. I had never heard this or about different colors making a difference. We have a green one, the elm or midori, I can't remember which.

I don't know that its rated that far above others (it very well may be), but when I looked at seats the Chicco seats were ones that I thought looked the most comfortable and supportive. I'm sure the others are just as good, but if I was choosing a seat for myself that's the support/cushion/thickness/material I would want to sit in.

A have a girlfriend who does extensive product research, & she decided on chicco key fit (I got her the carseat as her shower gift) & it's been a month and she's loving it. Her baby doesn't have any heat issues

Nope! No issues at all other than DS hating it, but it turned out he just hated all car seats and still does

We have a keyfit 30 and love it. We had no issues being sweaty in it, but we also never left it in the car to get hot.
