Monistat 7 and bleeding

Hi ladies! Last week I was prescribed Monistat 7 for a yeast infection. After using it for two days, I woke up to bleeding (going back to my original post regarding bleeding after a BM). Even though the bleeding was just what was on the tissue and slowed to spotting, I still went to the ER. They said don't do anything vaginally until I had a checkup. The baby was fine and I was fine. They couldn't explain the bleeding. Yesterday, I had my follow up and everything was fine. I asked about continuing my prescription. They said it was fine and to just be careful with the applicator. I was as careful as possible, but same thing happened this morning. I called Walgreens, who state not to continue using until I talk to my doctor. I didn't freak about about the blood this time, since I know I'm ok, but has anyone else had this experience with monistat 7?

Re: Monistat 7 and bleeding

  • Yep! I just got over a yeast infection and used Monistat 7. I had some pinkish discharge for 3 days while using it. I called my doctor, and his nurse said that was OK, as long as it wasn't "period-like bleeding." She said the applicator and medication probably irritated my cervix. I stopped using the treatment, and the pink discharge stopped. They tell you to call your doctor just to be cautious.

  • Thank you for responding. It's all gone and I'll be calling my doctor on Monday to find alternative ways to treat it. I can't take another morning of waking up to bleeding. I had a feeling that the Monistat was doing it. It probably affected me different since I'm extremely sensitive.
