so I want to buy a new vacuum. I don't have pets so I don't need special features for that. I do have allergies so a good filter is nice.
Any recommendations? I don't want to spend $600 for one though I'm sure the really high end ones are nice.
I'm in a small two bedroom condo with cheap standard carpeting. Hubby likes to vacuum the kitchen vinyl floor though I do sweep it like 8 billion times a day.

Electrolux, every time.
Mine is (no joke) over 30 years old. It is my best friend. You can get new ones for under $300 (smaller models, but just as effective!) And their service techs are awesome! Mine comes to my house every 3months and checks the vacuum and air purifier, tweaks them a bit, but unless a major thing needs to be fixed, I don't get charged
I'm not hungry, I'm HUUUNNNNNGGGRRRRRYYYY! NOW!

I definitely want something that will last a while. I'm tired of buying cheap shit that does crap work.

I have both of these. I use the DC44 everyday and the full size Dyson once a week. I love using the DC44 in the bathroom. The attachment goes behind the toilet and it can pick up random fur bunnies.
