August 2014 Moms

It's that spooky time of year again....

I'm pretty well convinced at this point that my deceased parents are in my new place and play with the baby. Either that or I have a very strange kid. Every day, for hours, she will look at the same corner on the living room ceiling and smile and laugh regardless of her mood. There's nothing there. Part of me is creeped out, but another part of me smiles and is happy they can see and interact with her (if it is them). I've started talking to Delaney, telling her to say hi to them for me. Anyone else have creepy LO stories?

  • Not with my own, but when one of my nieces was maybe a year or less old I was babysitting one night. I was rocking her to sleep and she was staring over my shoulder for the longest time. Eventually she just started grinning huge, then she lifted her arm and waved.

I know it was my Grandma because I had been thinking about her at that exact moment and how she died before she got to meet any of the great-grandbabies from my sister.

  • Not about my kids, but I did this all the time, my mom tells me. She said I was almost psychic. On more than one occasion I would tell her to answer the phone because ____ was calling — before the phone actually rang with said person calling. And I told her my sister feel in the pool and was a Smurf, a week before she actually did. (Sister is fine, BTW. She coughed up water and was completely okay when it did happen.)

But I think it would still creep me out a little, even if I thought it was nice spirits.

  • Yup DS does this, at his changing table he always looks up and smiles so big and wiggles he's so happy. I do think it's family that have passed specifically DHs dad :) I think it's sweet!

  • Max is named after FI's deceased grand father. They were really close and Max is always staring at the opposite couch from where we sit. Like for minutes at a time. Never thought much of it... Hmmmm

  • I had a very good friend pass right before Thanksgiving last year. The song from Luke Bryan "Drink a Beer" came out right around the same time and literally fit his life and our friendship to a T. We used to sit on the dock in his pond and drink and fish all throughout high school. He was the party barn. Every time it plays I cry and think of him and hope he knows we all love and miss him. But he is with his mom again and that's nice. Since LO was born when its been on the radio she smiles, not alot, but its enough to let me know he's still with all of us that are healing. It has comforted me. He would have loved to see her. Its almost been a year. <3 Derek

Love to all your passed loved ones as well. Hope your hearts are healing.
  • My mom's cousins had a lady in their nursery that cared for them when they were little. Their cribs would be moved around and they were only 1 and 2 years old. The older child used to talk about her and said she rocked the baby (and my mom's aunt said she never had to get up with them when they fussed at night).

I babysat a family and their 3 year old still saw a spirit in their very old house. I asked her about him one time and she started telling me, but then abruptly stopped and told me he didn't want her to talk about him with me. That was pretty freaky. She played with him all the time. Talked to him, laughed, followed him around...it was crazy. They had their living room in their basement and the girl's room upstairs (2 floors up, because their house was from so long ago the kitchen is in the basement). One time I went upstairs to put them back to bed because they were running up and down the stairs...it was so loud...and when I got up there they were fast asleep just like I had left them the first time I put them to bed. Those are just a few of the crazy stories. Some ghost hunters came to the house and that was pretty cool.
  • Yes! We were just talking about this last night. DS middle name is after my SO's deceased father. We have his urn in our living room. We also have his prayer card along with my grandmother's, cousins, aunt & grandfather (who passed away just after DS was conceived) on the mirror of our dresser where his changing mat is. Every time we are in the bedroom he looks all around the ceiling and smiles. No matter what kind of mood he is in but if he is upset he actually calms down just being in there. I'm convinced it's his many guardian angels looking over him :)

  • Well, they found a secret room dug out of the hill in the backyard. It had been covered by ferns and no one knew it was there. The house was part of the Underground Railroad. They got some neat pictures. Some weird lights dancing I'm the mirror while someone was playing the piano. Nothing like what would happen on a typical night, though. That house was crazy. They sold it a few years ago and I always want to stop and ask the new owners if they've had any experiences. My friend lived 2 doors down and saw an apparition in her house once. A man in a rain jacket. She yelled at him to leave her alone and he never came back.
  • Yep. V does this all the time. In the kitchen one corner, her bedroom, all over the house. I'm pretty sure (or at least hope) it's My grandmother. She would have loved my girls. I miss her and think of her often. Sometimes I look at V and see my grandmother in her face
