I was just going to let this thing go, and not even respond to it, but based on the responses you got I cannot not say this. It's hard for me to give sympathy to someone that clearly doesn't care about their own life or the life of others.

I'm glad you are all okay, but your brother should be prosecuted for reckless driving, and you for child endangerment. I have friends that died from a car accident caused by the reckless driving of others, so excuse me if IDGAF about your cravings.

While I agree that brother should be charged with reckless driving (and OP for being damn stupid, which I don't think is a crime you can charge unfortunately) it is not child endangerment. There was no child in the car. There was a fetus, but at this point the fate of the fetus is still entirely up to the mother/host and I don't believe in criminalizing stupidity-while-pregnant.

Wether you believe or not in criminalizing stupidity while pregnant is not really the point. The legal rights of fetus have been recognized in many states especially regarding drug use of the mother during pregnancy.

The Unborn Victims of Violence Act of 2004  is a United States law which recognizes a child in utero as a legal victim, if they are injured or killed during the commission of any of over 60 listed federal crimes of violence. The law defines "child in utero" as "a member of the species Homo sapiens, at any stage of development, who is carried in the womb". This law makes an exception of abortion.

ETA: I know that does not apply to OP, more so since this whole thing is MUD.

Did you read what you quoted? This does not apply.

  • I'm really amused by the randoms dropping in to applaud her strength and wish her well. Seriously?
  • to add to the terminal velocity discussion (which i didn't even think about earlier): i was in a car accident about 10 years ago.  I rear-ended the car in front of me going 30-40 miles per hour.  my car was fucking totaled.  there were pieces everywhere all over the highway.  if i hadn't been wearing my seatbelt and had an airbag, i would have gone through the windshield and been dead.  that being said, with my personal experience, i am now wondering whether people could even survive a crash like that (at 130 mph).  i'm kind of calling bullshit on this one too now!

  • I did not want to believe this was mud. I think it's disgusting for someone to lie like this. I know, I know- there are all types in this world, but this is just gross if someone gets a kick out of posting horror stories considering a child's life.
I was trying to provide comfort in my original post, but I feel seriously mislead and pissed. Fucking trolls.
  • I actually think she hasn't returned because well...she's still in the hospital. I'd be shocked if this was MUD because that is so fucking beyond inappropriate. I'm not gonna put words in OP's mouth. She said she regrets it. Understatement of the year in my opinion, but whatever. She can't change what she's done in the past. I just hope for her sake and others that she truly learned her lesson and will never do that, or get in a car with someone who does that again.
Ask any May13 mom (there are many of us here) about how far some seriously fucker up people would go with MUD. MUD trolls don't fucking care about what's inappropriate or not. I honestly don't know which is more disturbing... The thought that someone would make up this story to play on the sympathies of pregnant women or that someone would be that fucking stupid and reckless with not only her own life and possibly others on the road, but the life of a precious baby growing inside of her.
Yup. And as we know, MUD actually gets much worse than this

  • I think its MUD. Gross. There was a very sad accident in my town involving 3 teens over the summer, driving 90MPH and hit a tree. The car was wrapped around the tree, 2 boys were killed and the other was burned very badly. He is still in the hospital. It made the news. I really doubt op and her brother would have lived tbh.
  • You are amazing! God bless you all

We had this same thing happen here in SC. Couple of high schoolers our for a joyride. 2 dead, one spent months and months in a burn unit. So sad.

  • But the truth remains, why would someone do this pregnant? Drunk or not. This has made no gd sense to me from the beginning. I obviously don't wish her harm, but at the same time it is hard for me to have sympathy for someone like this. People struggle to get pregnant. It is agonizing. They suffer miscarriages through no fault of their own. (People close to me have.). This story sickens me.

  • I didn't know he would go that fast. We were going to the store to get ranch dressing. I didn't think to ask him to slow down because I was speechless at how close the corner was coming and why he wasn't slowing down.
  • I knew his intentions when he said he wanted to test drive it, sure. Just didn't know to what extent.
I can't go back in time. I'm a terrible person, should have died, along with my brother and the baby.
  • So either they're both idiots or her brother is an idiot. Either way, grow up.

I drive an EVO myself with a stage 2 mapping, upgraded all stainless catbsck exhaust etc.

Mistakes happen. However , I don't let people test drive my car. They usually don't know how to handle it. I also wouldn't put myself in that position being pregnant now. I'll continue to love my fast car, I'll just drive it at safer speeds :)

Lesson learned. Move on to better things. Dwelling on it doesn't change it and only prevents you from looking ahead.

  • Wow! I'm glad you're alive and baby is still doing okay! That's so crazy, God must have wanted you and your brother to live and for you to have your baby.
I really wish I wouldn't have come back to read the newest comments on this thread... I'm really fucking mad now. Edit to remove random L at the beginning of my quote box
I think she was using sarcasm as a tool to point out how dumb some of these pp were. All these "miracle" and "thank god" and "god really wanted your baby to live" are a huge slap in the face to women that have done nothing but hoped and prayed for the well being of their baby only to lose it. OP was completely was completely reckless and moronic, if this isn't MUD (which I believe it is). The fact that her "alleged" baby survived an "alleged" crash is nothing but a testimony to the crash safety rating of the vehicle she was in, the amazing ability of the body to protect the fetus, and the amazing care provided by the emergency personnel, doctors, and nurses.
You think @alexis95‌ was being sarcastic?
No, sorry. I was referring to @snowbigdeal‌ who had put her in her place.
Oh ok. Ya I got @snowbigdeal‌'s sarcasm. I was (am) pissed at @alexis95‌ for her offensive comment.
And rightfully so! It was a really idiotic comment to be made on this board.
Wow I didn't even see this until today since I'm mostly mobile and didn't get the notifications.. I'm really sorry I offended some of you. I honestly didn't mean to.. I was trying to send words of encouragement to OP but I do see I could have worded it better. I didn't mean for it to sound like God "chooses" which babies live and die. I've had several miscarriages and I always felt like it wasn't fair that I didn't get to keep my baby.
Anyway, again I'm sorry I offended anyone. I didn't know it was that offensive of a comment but I can see how some could take it the wrong way. Also, I'm sorry for the very delayed response.
