Trouble TTC

Hi! I'm new here.

Hello all! I've been lurking for the last few weeks and decided it was time to introduce myself. I am in the beginning stages of clomid treatment, just finished testing. My SO and I are very lucky to have our tests come back with good results, problem is, I don't ovulate...like ever. I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 16 and was on bc from then until about two years ago (I'm 25, now). Part of me believed that over that time my "issues" would just work themselves out...but go figure, they didn't! My SO has been "supportive" in the whiny, complainy, "I have to do what?", "you have no idea how embarrassing that was" kind of way. Currently I'm tying to decide how I can take the time off of work to get my ultrasounds done. Anyway, I'm excited to get to know you all and build a support system that actually knows what I'm going through!

TTC since Jan 2013      Me=25   DH=26

Me: PCOS; I do not ovulate on my own...like ever. All other tests came back good.

Hubby: SA came back in the normal range.

Medicated Cycle #1: Letrozole 5mgs days 3-7, trigger when eggs are ready: total bust...u/s 12/23-lots of little follies. u/s 12/26 follies grew 1mm 1 in each ovary. u/s 12/28 no growth. OPKs for hopeful ovulation, if not progesterone on CD35 to induce next cycle w/5mg letrozole CD 3-7, add follistim CD 8. UPDATE: Positive OPK 1/1 and 1/2, very unexpected and unlikely that I'd ovulate this cycle! :)

Re: Hi! I'm new here.

  • just wanted to say welcome!
    TTC#1 since Aug 2013, I'm 37, DH 41.
Maya Arvigo Abdominal massage (daily self care), plus TTC meditations.
I'm very sensitive to diet (gluten, avoid processed foods) and environment. Have a history of inflammation and tendinitis before going off gluten in 2009.
July 2014 - RE Visit #1: Eggs look good, Endometrioma on R ovary, HSG showed blocked R tube close to ovary. DH SA normal
DX: Endometriosis probably the IF cause and gunking up tubes.  Since egg reserve is high, RE says I can wait a couple months and then get laproscopic surgery to remove endo & clear tube.  If that doesn't help then move to IVF.
Dec 2014 - Saw new RE - does not recommend surgery on tube as it isn't likely to help.  Doubts I have endometriosis.  My endometrioma shrunk to neglible size (yay!)
    Seriously considering IVF in March/April
    12/17/14 - Natural BFP!

  • Welcome! Glad you have good test results. Hopefully Clomid will work perfectly. :)

Your SO sounds like such a guy. :) Just make sure he sees how much you have to deal with!!

FMLA is a great idea if your workplace is inflexible. Ditto previous posters, make sure to insist on all those monitoring appts.

Welcome!  If you do have issues trying to take off work, you can use FLMA.  Bear in mind that depending on your particular company's policies, you may not get paid if you don't have leave, but they can't not let you take the time off for that.  It can be use intermittently, meaning you can use a day here, a few hours there, ect., instead of using the whole 12 week block at once.  Good Luck!

OMG my RE always puts off filling out my FMLA paperwork. Every time I'd ask for her to fill them out she'd say "let's wait to see how you respond this cycle"... I'm lucky that my boss really likes me (and I'm the one that goes through the absenteeism report lol). But now I'm benched so it doesn't matter.

Welcome @MissK23!! MH was/is the same way. He was so embarassed after the first SA that he said he was NEVER doing it again. Well, he's done 3 now. Lol. So they get over it, or at least put up with it. GL!

  • Just wanted to stop and say welcome! Hopefully since the numbers were good you can start out with just timed intercourse and you don't have to endure that whining for IUI samples? I'm sure my husband was embarrassed dropping off his SA sample (we "collected" at home...yes, I said we ;) ) but he also happened to see one of my blood draws, asked how many times I have to do THAT, and counted himself lucky. At least his testing was pleasurable!

Good luck with your first round of Clomid!!

    WTF consult scheduled for 1/29

  • Just a little pick me upper for you... my fiance and I have been TTC for 4 years. It was to the point of driving us crazy. I got tests done and I also was not ovulating correctly... my OB gave me my fist 3 rounds of Clomid and told me to not get discouraged if it doesn't happen Within the first two or three rounds. I took my first round and I crossed my T's and dotted my I's (meaning I simply took an ovulation test daily and tracked my cycle. . .) Next thing I know... I'm getting a positive pregnancy test. I'm now 6 weeks and 3 days along. I know it's hard to Have hope after ttc for the longest time. But God works in mysterious ways. Keep your head up and stay positive.

@Blessed4This‌ - even if you did put the proper "BFP mentioned" warning, this is incredibly insensitive to post on a board where you do not regularly participate. I get you're trying to show that there's hope, but this is not the way to do that in this community. You don't know anybody's full history and we do not want to give false hope. I'm glad your BFP came quickly after beginning treatment, but do NOT post here and try to give people unrealistic expectations.

@MissK23 - I'm not saying you definitely won't have a similar experience. I actually hope you do get a BFP quickly. We're an optimistic bunch, but we're also a realistic bunch.
