To snoogle or not to snoogle?

That is my question. Ftm here and I currently use a body pillow which I can't sleep without normally. My question; IS the snoogle really worth it for ones that have it? I know you all are big fans of it but compared to a regular body pillow will there be more benefit to getting one. Thoughts?

  • I hated that thing with a passion and had to return it. I'm a back sleeper though. My doc said that I didn't have to be completely on my side, just not completely on my back. So I would wedge one or two body pillows under half of me to get me at an angle. Worked much better for me.

I can't speak for the snoogle but I love the Boppy Total body pillow. Worth every penny and definitely worth considering.

ETA / I'd say the benefit over a ref body pillow is the shape. I love the contoured support. I also like having the middle part wedged under my belly to give some support to my separated ab muscles to hopefully keep them from stretching out more.

  • My snoogle is the only thing allowing me to sleep these days. I am a huge fan of it. It just sort of wraps around you like a big hug.
  • I LOVE my Boppy Total Body pillow! :D
  • I'm a pillow whore as it is, but being pregnant I take it to a ridiculous level. I love my snoogle, and my 2 body pillows, as well as my 2 normal down pillows (told you it's bad). I use them all to prop my legs, head, and belly at different times, and in different ways. That being said the snoogle helped me the bigger I got my last pregnancy more so than the rest.
  • I can't sleep without it. It's my favorite thing ever, besides maternity yoga pants.

  • I wasn't buying all the raves about it and didn't think I'd need it. I gave in when I started waking up with some hip and back pain and I'm so glad I did. I think I'll use this long after I'm pregnant. It's amazing!!!
  • My snoogle is the best thing I've purchased this entire pregnancy. Love it so much!! Definitely invest in one, so worth it
  • I LOVE mine. And I had my not-preggo BFF try it out and she loves it so much that I'm getting her one for her birthday in November.

For me it's one of the few things that helps with my back pain. :)
  • Thanks everybody! I am managing with my body pillow now, but I am thinking once I get bigger I will need the extra support. Going to look at some this weekend. My back pain hasn't been too bad because I am been going to the chiro. Thanks again!
  • I've been experiencing a good amount of pelvic, hip, and back pain so I ordered a Snoogle a few days ago :) I hope it helps.  Sucks waking up every morning with a creaky body and I'm not even halfway through my pregnancy yet.

I guess C will have to snuggle my Snoogle, too!

I vote no. I got one, and ended up using bed pillows instead. :)
  • I gave mine away after my first pregnancy. Not a fan.  Too big and bulky and hot and blech.  I just wedged pillows places as needed -- under the belly, behind my back, between my knees (but not until third tri -- I don't have sleep comfort issues until I get really big).  The problem is that you really won't know whether you're going to like it until you get it, and if the answer is no, you're stuck with an enourous useless bed snake.

  • I bought a 7 dollar body pillow with a 7 dollar pillowcase so I paid 14 dollars for a pillow that I love and it's very comfy for me

  • Lurker from Jan15 .... I hate my Snoogle, total waste of money. Not very stuffed, at this point quite flat. If I put it between my legs to try to keep my hips aligned, my knees still easily touch. Plus it is plasticy and I always overheat whichever body parts are touching it.

I much prefer a king sized foam pillow. You can buy 2 of those at a big store (Walmart, Target, etc) for the same price as the Snoogle and keep one ok either side so you don't have to fight with it when you want to roll over. They're at least thick enough to keep your hips aligned, and mine are much cooler on the skin than the Snoogle.

  • Follow up question: does anyone NOT use body pillows? I'm totally content with just my normal pillow. I'm confused. Will I need one later in? I sleep fine, no pain...
I just use regular pillows that we alrady own wedged wherever I need the extra support.

It was around 22w when my belly started getting big enough that it felt better to wedge a pillow under it. But my hips/back have needed the support between my knees for awhile.

Get it when you feel you need it?

  • My Bump Nest pillow is the best thing I have bought so far this pregnancy.  I love it!

  • FTM as well. I didn't have a body pillow already so I bought a Snoogle and I LOVE IT!!! My husband and dog both try to steal it from me. DH says he gets it now and if he had one, he wouldn't want to snuggle with me either lol.

  • I say to snoogle! I used it with my last pregnancy and have been using it this time around for about a month or so now. I'm usually a belly sleeper, and that's not comfortable anymore. My snoogle is the only thing that keeps me comfortable while I sleep. Love it.

  • I have a snoogle and I don't really like it. I toss and turn during the night and I just find it too big and restricting. I'm back to my usual small pillow between my knees and that's working just fine for now.

Interesting. Tell me more. That is kind of why I was asking, maybe I won't like it or need it?

That's what I am afraid of! Lol. Bed snake....hahaaaaa

That's what I do with my body pillow now and it works just fine. However I am thinking I will need more pillows later. We'll see I guess.
  • Another snoogle supporter here. I love mine and I started traveling with it to my IL's because their beds are super uncomfortable to begin with and the snoogle is like a pregnancy doggie bed...at least that's what it feels like to me.

If you can find one on sale or purchase with a coupon I'd say go for it. I would have had trouble buying one at full price but I got mine for a steal.

  • Update: I got mine yesterday!  I decided to "test" it out at 8:30 pm and fell asleep within seconds.  Granted I've had a pretty shitty and exhausting week, but still.  I'm on Team Snoogle!  I slept soundly for 12 hours (because I still can) and do not regret my purchase one bit.  Woke up with less hip and back pain (though my pelvis is still a little achy but even that improved).

I'm also tall and large (5'9, 295).  I've heard Snoogles are more comfortable for bigger gals.  Just something to think about.  It may be too big if your build is petite.

  • I love the snoogle. It is like sleeping in a big hug. Extra pillows weren't doing it for me - and I don't have issues with it even though I toss and turn.

  • I Dont have the snoogle but i have the Bump Nest pillow. And i seriously don't know how i ever slept without it! by husband tries to steal it all the time when were sleeping. i tried pillows before but i kept loseing them and they kept getting thrown off the bed by my husband in the middle of the night.
  • @meladoriestar I haven't needed any extra pillows or anything either yet.  I actually bought a snoogle a few weeks ago because everyone raved about it, but it's just been sitting in my bedroom taking up space because I realized I am sleeping just fine as is, for now at least!

(Watch, we'll hit 17 weeks and 4 days and our backs and hips will go out!)

  • I LOVE my snuggle! It offers great support for my back on those days when I've just over extended myself. I just find myself having a really hard time sleeping without it now. I'm not sure I'll want to give it up once the baby is born!
  • I'm using one from BRU. I couldn't get myself to pay $50+ for the snoogle or the other big name one.

It is a small crescent shape and comes with a wedge. (I have had not needed the wedge, but the picture shows it going under a very huge belly.) I LOVE the crescent part! I use it every night, and I'm a side switcher - what I love about it is that it's not too big to easily switch sides when I want to. It's not too firm, not too soft.
