I totally missed all that drama, but I love that you guys' attempt to deescalate involved a cascade donuts (of course), and not once, but twice.

Ya I'm so lost! And I come around often...

I'm pretty sure for the most part this isn't an unpopular opinion but not really sure where to post it and don't want to start a new thread because its too sad....
Not sure if anyone heard of the Bucket List Baby, but it was a couple who found out their baby most likely had a brain defect and wouldn't live more than a few days past birth so they went around the country doing "bucket list things" with their baby bump so he would experience all of these things in his short life before birth. Well he was born last night and he died this morning. I was REALLY hoping and praying that the doctors ALL had it wrong. Silly I know because I'm sure they went to a ton of doctors to have this reconfirmed over and over again...I just wanted the doctors to be wrong, as I'm sure everyone else did too. So not really a UO but like I said, didn't really know where to post it so here it is :)
Awwww. I was praying for them and hoping the doctors were wrong too. I can't imagine what they're going through but at least they got to spend some time with their son before he went to be with Jesus. Prayers and strength to them.

  • I had no idea that our mods were being talked badly about over on the other BMB. F that! Maybe we should send them some REAL donuts? Since it's really hard to be grouchy pants when you're eating donuts! :D

My UO: I think it's kinda mean to only "love tit" some HDBD photos and not others. I'm not sure why but it makes me sad when I see this. :(

    +1

It's why I don't participate in HDBD, or haven't to this point. I don't want to miss anyone and hurt any feelings!

  • The grandparents thing: For us or mainly me I have a good schedule for my kids and it's not a difficult one cause my kids are use to it. Granted they're 1 and 5 months and they aren't to wild yet but they know their naptimes and bedtimes. They yawn, rub their eyes and ask for Mimis (sleep). They wanna eat at certain times and have their snacks at certain times. I planned their schedule around them so they set it. Maybe when they're older it'll be a little harder but until then I expect my schedule to be kept.

The Tooties Rolls: I have no idea how those nasty brown ones manage to stay on the market! I LOVE the flavored ones ahh orange mmm!

The Pumpkin Spice H8tr: how dare you. Lol but I agree with peppermint goodness!

My UO: I fucking love that Anaconda song by Nicki Minaj. Sorry for my language but it's so funny and catchy to me.
  • I haven't read that Bucket List Baby story. I try to avoid the ones where the baby dies or other stories regarding pregnancy/childbirth with sad outcomes. I have the utmost respect and sympathy for those families, and I guess I need to be realistic and accept that sometimes stories don't have happy endings, but it just makes me too sad to read the stories.

There was one around the time DS was born (Dec 2012) about a baby born with anencephaly who died within hours of birth, and I remember holding 5 day old DS, reading the story, and just crying and crying. Hugs and prayers for those families.
  • I don't buy pumpkin spice. I just use a mix of nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon, and ginger. I think it's supposed to have allspice too, but I don't notice a difference. Apparently I don't have very discriminating taste when it comes to pumpkin spice.
  • I get angry on behalf of peacocks everywhere that the peacock costumes being marketed to little  girls are actually male peacocks. Peahens look nothing like peacocks.

    *storms off in outrage*
You know... I have never thought about it that way.. Great catch!
  • We DO have great mods. *Some* of the new mod nominations over on the board that shall not be named were people who handle the dramz really terribly.

I saw Gone Girl last night and for the most part LOVED it. Can't wait to read the book now. I haven't been introduced to Gillian Flynn's work until now.

  • @maebb, I am totally with you, I normally avoid all of these stories. This one kept coming up on the news etc. though so I couldn't avoid it and last night my FB was blowing up with the story that they were in labor, so I became invested and was sooo saddened this am. Wish I had never read it because all of these stories always break my heart. So I am sorry to have thrown it on here! Don't want to bring everyone's day down!
  • I think outtie belly buttons are creepy.  Right now my belly button looks like it has an overbite and im about to tape that sucker down so I dont look like I have a 3rd nipple.

And number 2.  Pregnancy is a lot more painful and uncomfortable than I was led to expect.  I wasnt expecting to waddle and have trouble rolling over until at least the 3rd trimester.

THIS!! I feel like I was not adequately prepared to know how much lower body/ pelvic pain there was and how much sooner all other issues would start! Oh the plus side my doctor said that generally speaking you recover a lot quicker the second time so I am holding onto that!

Apparently it's an UO that I loathed Gone Girl (book, haven't seen the movie). Sure, it was well written but I kept hoping there would be a character that wasn't truly despicable (maybe his sister, that's about it).

I closed that last chapter thoroughly disgusted and disappointed. I won't see the movie because I hated those characters so much.

I love it.. Probably because I love movies that explore complex and villainous characters, ESPECIALLY when those characters are women, and not boring "caring nurturing angel woman", "manic pixie dream girl," or "reformed whore with good heart" etc etc.

I'm going to have to disagree. Pumpkin Noosa (exclusively at Target) makes Chobani look like kid yogurt.

My user name randomly changed...and I didn't do it. What's up with that?
  • I hate yogurt. Hate it.

I want to like it but I just don't. Every few years I try it again in hope that my tastes have changed but I still hate it every time.

The only way I can eat yogurt without thinking of cold sour snot is if it is mixed with 2 parts granola for every 1 part yogurt.

Thanks for that imagery. I like most yogurt as long as it's not too sweet. I don't like the ones that are full of sugar or artificial sweeteners. Also with yogurt that is marketed to kids, I really watch the sugar content.

I'm totally with you on that. I cannot stand yogurt either. Even if it was 10 parts granola to 1 part yogurt. I wish I liked it, it's such a convenient snack/breakfast. And I want to be like those people on the Activia commercial....

    I have two.

1.) I think waffles are a lot better than pancakes.

2.) I think kids should be corrected/disciplined for rolling their eyes at adult figures. I was raised in a household where eye rolling was a huge sign of disrespect. I cringe every time a child is allowed to roll their eyes without any repercussions.

@kmfreema‌, I recently confronted an employee after she rolled her eyes at me when I was providing feedback on a presentation. She said, "I said ok - it's not your business what I do with my body, and that is not within your control." I explained that part of effective communication is body language, and if she disagrees with my feedback, we can talk about it in a professional, respectful way, but rolling her eyes is neither professional or respectful. She said we'd just have to agree to disagree. Clearly her parents didn't raise her to know that eye-rolling is unacceptable.
Oh my... For real? Her lack of professionalism would make it into a note on her next performance review, if I were her supervisor.

  • I'm totally guilty of the half love-titting on HDBD this week!  I realized halfway through that somewhere I had stopped love-titting and it wasn't on purpose so then I thought that maybe I should start up again but then thought that I shouldn't....but I agree, it's not cool not to love-tit everyone.

    @maebb Wow....just wow.

I work with high schoolers (most of which have problems socializing or fully understanding social situations). They are all at the age where they are interested in getting a job, so for the past two weeks I've been going over professional etiquette. Next week is supposed to be about interview strategies, but I may change it to body language and communication so I can use your example as a roll play scenario. I'm curious to see how some of them would respond.

The book was well written but I HATED the ending. I hope they changed it for the movie. I'm waiting until it comes out in Red Box to see it.

  • @kmfreema, we work in a professional office setting, and that employee also loudly smacks and pops her gum and leaves her phone on a really obnoxious and unprofessional ringtone. She has worked for the company for 15 years and apparently has not been held accountable for her unprofessionalism (although I do think her failure to get promoted reflects it), but she has worked for me for 3 months, and I am working with her and letting her know that she needs to be more professional if she wishes to maintain or advance her position in the company. I'm pretty sure she thinks I am too critical of her, but it's my job to see that she is developing her skills and contributing to the team. I think she'd be a great case study for your class. :)

    :::cringe:::
Gum smacking/popping are my biggest pet peeves. I tell all my kids that I don't mind gum in my room, but the second they start chewing like a cow or popping it they are no longer allowed to have it.

It sounds like she'd be the perfect "don't" example! Lol
