Guilty of first trimester baby shopping

I have been resisting baby shopping, I mean its WAY too early. I know it is. But, my good ultra sound made me get into a mood, and I did it. I went baby shopping...and I came home with one pair of little, bitty, tiny, teeny, brown, suede baby booties.

Anyone else guilty of baby shopping already? If so, what did get?

  • Wow! @momtosam that looks amazing! I love the deer and forest theme!

  • I bought a cute pink shirt. I couldn't help it! I loved it! If it turns out to be a boy, I'll give it to my sister in law :) she just had a baby. It's my first time so I'm just too excited :)
  • Those deer and trees are amazing! I havnt bought anything yet gonna try wait it out until the scan
  • I went into Zara's yesterday. They have the CUTEST baby clothes, I resisted the urge, but I could definitely do some serious shopping in there. Everything was so adorable! We're team green (for now), but I may start picking up a few gender neutral sale items and start putting them away as PP mentioned. @momtosam‌ the nursery mural looks amazing and I love the picture. Wish I was that talented. Enjoy putting the finishing touches on baby's nursery.
  • Haven't yet but probably will after Friday if all is well with us.....not planing to go crazy but probably get a little something....I have also been researching and creating Amazon wish list.

  • I haven't but my mother has been. I told her no more, especially after the uncertainty I'm feeling right now.

  • I got a pair of little booties for our pregnancy reveal picture for facebook. My friend who is due 5 days later ten me just told me yesterday she is doing the exact same picture for their pregnancy reveal and plan to put it on facebook the same week we planned to. I haven't told her we are pregnant so she has no idea but I was bummed. I think I may wait til Xmas now.

  • Nope. I don't like storing things, so I don't want to buy things until we start on the room, which won't be until after the first of the year.

  • I bought an outfit. I justified it to myself because it was on sale for $3... but really... I just wanted to buy something baby!

  • I can't buy anything just yet. I bought an antique dresser my 3rd pregnancy last year and I wanted to take an ax to it when I miscarried. I do have a secret Pinterest board but I won't actually buy anything until the 2nd trimester.
    Fucking bump!!!!
  • I bought a few neutral outfits back before finding out we were expecting. I went online to find an outfit to announce it to my husband and while I was there I found a few other outfits I loved that were on sale. Our first appointment and u/s is this afternoon and if things go well, we plan on making a trip to Target to buy something baby related after. My husband is really looking forward to it. I'm definitely not going to turn down an offer to go shopping, especially for baby things. :) *fingers crossed all goes well today*
    Anniversary

  • I've been picking things up that caught my eye for years. I did the same when we were TTC our first, a hope chest so to say. So far, I've only bought a onsie from Jane.com {it's grey & says "hello, I'm new here"} and my mom bought the babe an adorable sleeper while we were resale shopping one day. I do have a bin of things, though for the babe. A few things that are sex specific, but a lot of it is neutral.

  • Bought a Star Wars bib at a craft sale and a Vera Bradley diaper bag the outlet since it was such a great price. All other shopping will start on Black Friday.
  • I bought 3 hockey onesies, 1 we used for our reveal to the inlaws the other 2 are in the closet.

That's awesome! When we go back home this weekend to tell my family, I plan on buying some Blackhawks ones. I'm actually pretty sure that will be one of the first things my parents buy us. That stuff is way easier to buy in IL.
    Anniversary

  • I haven't gotten anything yet, but I'm really eager to put the nursery together! We just moved, so we have an empty room for now, but I'm trying to refrain from starting too early.

Goodness...I already bought a crib! It is seriously adorable and it was on sale so I couldn't resist. I've started a list of things but I'm trying to hold off on anything else.

I love this! I know what crib I want and I am kicking myself for not buying it when I was 8 weeks and it was $150 off and free shipping. Surely pottery barn will have it on sale again (I hope). I just want to put the room together already. Thinking in 2nd tri will go to baby stores and see everything in person I've put on my list and make an official registry. This is our first and he first grandbaby on both sides, so everyone is anxious to buy. And, with Christmas coming up I know we'll get things.
  • I haven't bought anything yet, but I will say that I am comparison shopping all-the-things like it is my j.o.b. :)  We probably won't even end up buying half of the stuff.

  • Freshly Picked heirloom moccs.  When they came out with them I wished that I was having another child just to buy them.  And now that we are I figured why not?
  • I feel really behind..

All I've done so far is pick out a couple cribs/nursery sets since in-laws offered to buy that furniture as part of our Christmas.

    Other than that... absolutely nothing.

The way I see it... until I'm at least 24-26 weeks, nothing is certain.  Not going to shop, register, or even look at anything until I'm at least to that point.  From where I'm at now till that point, anything could happen and things could change dramatically for the worse.

Sorry if I'm a Debby downer to this whole thing.

  • @lovebeingblonde I thought I would feel that way too - I can't wait for viablity day but I am realizing there is never any gurantee no matter how far you go and I cannot help but get excited and wrapped up in it.

My sis had two micro premies so viablity date is a big deal! My nephew was born 23 wks 6 days and there was battle for intervention but he is now an amazing 6 yr old!

I agree.  There are no guarantees in this at all.  I just can't shake this nagging "negative" feeling, and am not going to ignore it and be excited only to get terrible news.

I will admit to looking around here and there, but it has only been a few times and is mostly just maternity related vs baby related.

Lets hope the feeling is un-justified goes away no later than week 24 so you can enjoy!  I totally understand though I am very nervous waiting for the first US!

I've been lucky enough to have had 2 US's already, which were both great.  Just denial maybe?  I've even told DH I didn't want ANYONE knowing until about 20 weeks, but that didn't work out in my favor.

I only have 14 more weeks... lets just hope they pass quickly and without issues!

  • Guilty! I bought a set of three onsies that have monkeys on them. They were on sale at Ross and I couldn't resist. I figure it's unisex so boy or girl can wear it.

  • Thanks ladies. I loved how the mural turned out for DS. So when we discussed changing his room to make it more "big boy" for him, I suggested we just move him to another room and keep the nursery as is. (I really could not bring myself to paint over it.) The colors are more blue, but can easily add girly touches if we have a daughter. I am really excited to really "nest" this time. I was so cautious when pregnant with DS. I never really let myself get excited. This time I not letting the worry get the best of me. I am going to enjoy this and allow myself to get excited. If we do have a loss, we will get through it. I want to cherish every moment we do have. I regret that with my pregnancy with DS.

Yup. DS is Tommy Pickles! Nothing like living with an escape artist.
Just another cloth diapering, baby wearing mama.

  • I am avoiding buying things like the plague. I know it won't change to course of my pregnancy.....but I wouldn't want to deal with the sadness of putting things away if things didn't work out.

But the only things I've purchased are two pairs of maternity shorts at Target that were on sale for like $7 each. Couldn't pass it up.

I bought 4th of July outfits (1 outfit for each sex and one bathing suit for each sex) in May 2013 as they were under $4 each. I never thought I would be able to use them but now we can!

I have created an Amazon Baby Registry, which is currently set to private, of items that I have gathered from advice over my 16 months of TTC! I love that I can make it private until I am ready to set it public :)
