     @katemonster1  and @tweetyknicks   thanks for the check-ins!

I had my med demo meeting with my nurse today.  Thank goodness for bumpies, because my nurse was so scattered and unclear, that I do not think that I would have understood a word of what she said, had I not already had a very good idea from you all. She kept jumping from one med to another and just...yeah...not clear.  Even my husband left with a shocked look on his face, in response to how bizarre her explanation method was.  She also mentioned numerous times how exhausting having children is and how she thinks transferring two embryos is really crazy.  Uh, no words for that part.  This is the same nurse who told my friend (also a patient at the clinic) that her husband would have no problem doing her shots because her "behind is a big target".  Uh, because that's an appropriate thing to say?

I'm still waiting for AF -- then we get this show on the road.

QOTD: As a child I wanted to be a photographer.  That's what I am.  :)

@tumbleweed123‌ yikes, your nurse. I hope that was very much an "off" day for her...otherwise it sounds like she's in the wrong area of nursing for her. @CaringCat‌ Yay for being able to get started! AFM, no changes. I have 4 more days of BCPs and baseline 10/15. My vitamin D levels were a little low so I will take 3 weeks of Replesta before ER/ET week. I'm trying to wait patiently over here, and am excited to start seeing some updates from acorns farther along in the process. EDIT: Forgot QOTD, derr...as a very, very young child, I wanted to work at McDonald's!! Then I wanted to be an artist or writer, then I completely went to the opposite end of the spectrum and wanted to be a veterinarian (which is what I am today!)

  • That nurse is in the wrong line of work!! Maybe she should think about the QOTW!

    Good luck @katemonster1!

AFM, I'm still recovering from ER. I had a really rough day yesterday & I wasn't at all prepared for that! I'm hoping today is much better!!

  • Hi Acorns!

It's day 8 of stims here and I'm feeling pretty full.  I had a monitoring appt this morning and everything looks good.  I'm just waiting for a phone call with updated instructions.  My RE did say that I will have daily monitoring starting tomorrow until I'm ready to trigger so I'm getting close!

QOTW:  I changed my mind a lot growing up.  I wanted to be a pharmacist, a teacher, a physicist.  I'm an engineer now which is kinda like physics I guess.  If I knew what I know now, I would have loved to be an RE!

  • Good morning Acorns!

I hope you are all doing well today. It's almost the weekend!

@tweetyknicks Thanks for the check in! Hope you are feeling ok today.

@tumbleweed123‌ Sorry you had to go through such a confusing meeting with the IVF nurse. Thank goodness for this website!

@CaringCat Yay for AF! GL to you!

Good luck @katemonster1!!! I will be thinking about you today :)

@mrsCW Sorry you had a crappy day yesterday. I hope today is much better! Also, that is so cute what your mom did. What a precious memory to have. Love it!

AFM: I had my Day 7 monitoring appointment this morning and I feel like things went a little better than Tuesday. I have two questions if anyone has any feedback.

    1. I have 5 follicles over 10 on the left side with the largest being 14. I also have 2 that are right at 10 on the left side. On the right side, I have 2 pathetic follies measuring at 6. Stupid right ovary! Does this sound ok so far? I know everyone always asks this, but I can't help myself and ask too. Did anyone see more growth after Day 7? They are upping my dosage again. And I start Ganarelix tomorrow. The doctor said that when I started my E2 was super low at less than 100, but on Tuesday it was up to a little over 300, so I hope that is good. I don't know if I should be depressed or happy with these results. LOL!

    2. The doctor on Tuesday said I have a fibroid that looks like it might be growing into my uterine cavity and there is a chance I will have to do a freeze all. The doctor today, who runs the practice, said that the other doctor is wrong. I have a fibroid the size of a silver dollar (that sounds big!) but it's only in the muscle and is not affecting the cavity. Two completely different opinions from two doctors. Anyone ever had this happen before? Not sure who to believe!

Thanks for listening to my updates, which seem to get longer as I go through stims! I really appreciate this group and all the support.

FX for all those getting ready for ER and ET, as well as those ladies who are PUPO! I'm hoping to see a lot of BPFs from this group!

    <3 Rebecca

Sorry you are having some pain. Hope you feel better soon! Glad to hear your kitty in on the mend!

    Good Morning Acorns!

I am still a little sore from ER yesterday, I am thinking another day on the couch is in order. The nurse just called with an update. Out of our 10 eggs, 7 were mature. 6 of them fertilized! They are letting the immature eggs grow and will possibly fertilize them tomorrow. We did ICSI due to morphology issues. My first PIO injection last night and it was actually not bad at all!  I had one of my co-workers come over and do it.  My DH is terrified of needles and although he did do some of my stim injections, an IM shot is a whole different ball game!  I am a nurse and I hate doing them because I know how much they hurt so I am not even going to ask DH to do them.  My coworkers have all offered to help so I am going to let them lol!

As a kid I always wanted to be a veterinarian, but as I got older I developed a fear of birds so that killed that dream.  Now that I am a nurse I couldn't imagine doing anything else, I absolutely LOVE my career

  • Hi ladies.

6dp5dt and I was still a BFN this morning. I realize that nobody is out until the beta says we are out, but I have been down this road before and since I have ZERO pregnancy symptoms I know that this didn't work. I don't know that we will do this again. Emotionally speaking I'm spent. I turn 38 in 13 days, so just the age factor alone I feel like this is the end of this journey for us. DH is still trying to convince me that we should try at least until the final 3 embryos are done...... I just don't have to fortitude to continue.

  • Good morning acorns!

    @katemonster1 Good luck today!

@FutureMrsBaldwin2012 That's great news that 6 fertilized! Congrats!

@lilycakes78 Sounds like things are going good! I don't really know a whole lot about how big they are supposed to be at this point, but your numbers sound pretty good to me!

AFM I am currently on day 7 of stims and adding in Cetrotide tonight. I had my second monitoring appointment yesterday on day 6 and have 8 follies on each side still under 10mm. I think the biggest was around 9 and my E2 was around 277 so they kept my meds the same which I guess means its going ok but not really sure? Also, Dr. said it looks like I have fluid in my uterus still and we need to watch that which made me pretty worried, but had a little bit of spotting yesterday evening so really hoping the fluid is gone by tomorrow.

QOTD - As a kid I always wanted to be a veterinarian, but when I went to do the tour of the vet school before going to college there was a dog on the operating table that had passed away, and I decided I couldn't handle that. Plus I hated needles lol. So went the business route instead. :)
    Me - 29
    DH - 30, MFI - currently on clomid/vitamins

    TTC #1 since September 2013
May 2014 - diagnosed with MFI
July 2014 - HSG - possible blocked left tube
August 2014 - Hysteroscopy/Laparoscopy -  diverticulum on left tube but appears to be open and functioning
    IVF/ICSI #1 - starting stims 10/3, ER 10/18 - Freeze all due to high E2 & risk of OHSS - 14R/11Fertilized/5Frozen
    FET #1: expected 11/14

  • @O2girl‌ Hugs to you!! Stay positive! It's so rough sorting through all those feelings. @CallaLily30‌ moving right along! I felt like it took forever to get through prepping but stims went by in the blink of an eye! @lilycakes78‌ I think there's still time for your follies to catch up! Sounds like those two REs need to sit down together and come up with a consensus! Hopefully both situations come to some resolution over your next few monitoring appointments! FX! @tifga I hope you & your kitty start feeling better! My little 4 lb pup started vomitting this morning so we're cuddled up being miserable together! @FutureMrsBaldwin2012‌ I'm still on the couch too. I spoke with my nurse this morning & we're concerned about OHSS. She has me measuring my abdomen & weight every 2 hours. I'm so hoping this clears up today so we don't have to start talking freeze all. Awesome report too! Yay for 6F! My silver lining to the chat with my nurse this morning was that out of 14R, 13F with ICSI! Yay! FX our reports continue to be excellent!

  • Quick update. I'm on my way home from ER. Doc said I'm extremely unusual... 41 eggs retrieved. He also prescribed me cabergoline even though I used a combo trigger (lupron and hcg) to try to avoid OHSS. I'll have to eat salty protein and drink lots of gatorade. He said to expect at least some symptoms.

Hi ladies.
Oh honey, I'm so sorry. I'm hoping it's too early. I really am. Take some time, and take care of yourself and don't feel like you have to make any decisions right now.

  • Hey ladies,

Looks like I'm moving to the November group.  I swear my nurse originally told me that once I started my period, I would potentially only be on meds for 3.5 weeks before the transfer.  Well, she just told me that my transfer will be November 18th or 19th.  I'm really upset right now... I was expecting this to happen before the end of October, and now I have to wait another entire month.  I kind of want to cry right now.
I'm sorry for the delay, but it really will be here before you know it!

  • Hi all...my ET was on Sunday and we put in 2...today I went to the doctor cause I was still super sore and I was worried that something was wrong... Or a sign that it's not going to work! Everything was fine and doctor will have me come in on the 17th for my beta... I'm so nervous and I have to applaud all the women who go through this month after month cause this is my 1st time doing IVF and I feel so many emotions all at the same time and sometimes it gets overwhelming! From my tummy bloated...cramping...back aching and hips sore from progesterone shots & using the bathroom every 10 mins I am just ready to find out what's going on in there...praying for the best, preparing for the worst!

QOTD: I wanted to be a teacher when I was growing up...and I'm working in Communications for a cable co.
  • Hi ladies! Can't believe we're already well into October and already have some PUPO ladies.

Tomorrow I go into the REs office for a quick physical because I haven't had one on a couple months and then Saturday is transfer day. I am kind of freaking out but am so so positive about this time!

QOTD when I was younger I wanted to be am artist or a teacher. Then I realized I am not as artistic as I thought and although I would love to teach, college was just not for me.

Good evening Acorns! Late checking in here as Thursdays are my crazy day at work.

I had my first monitoring u/s this morning since I started the stims. I have 2 small follicles on the right (measuring around 6 & 5) and 4 on the left (also small). I know it's still early (I only had 3 days of stims at the time of the u/s, and I know we've only seen 8 follicles in past IUI cycles, but it's still depressing. DH is reminding me that we've always known we aren't going to get 41 eggs (dang girl!) and it only takes one, but today it really hit home that we have forked over thousands of dollars and it really may com down to just one. But I'm getting way ahead of myself....I know. My Menopur is getting increased due to low E2, so starting tonight it's two injections a day instead of one. I'm getting better at them though and the bruised stomach is so sexy!

Next u/s Saturday morning. So far I've had the headaches off and on, night sweats last night & I feel the emotional irrationalness setting in. The bloat is manageable, but I can tell it's coming on. We have family pictures this weekend and I'm trying to figure out what to wear to hide my pooch without giving the maternity look. Ugh.

I'm mobile and can't comment on each update, but I've read them all and am thinking of you all.

@O2girl‌ - hang in there and still hope for the best. If this isn't it, in due time you'll know what is right for you. Lots of hugs.

QOTD: I wanted to be a lawyer and lo and behold....I'm a lawyer.

  • @O2girl~ I'm so sorry. It's such a tough thing to deal with :(

Just stimming away over here. On day 4 of stims. I have blood work scheduled for Sunday. I have been feeling pretty queasy in the mornings. Other than that I'm doing well and am much more laid back doing IVF #2, rather than 1.
  • Hey! Sorry I missed check in yesterday.

Had my baseline ultrasound and blood work today. Ultrasound looked good, no cysts. Just waiting for blood results. If all is well, I start Lupron on Sunday and stims on Tuesday. I'm so ready to get this moving!

@02girl I'm still hoping it turns around and that stupid line appears for you and you get a great beta result. If not, I'll be thinking and praying for you.

This is such an emotionally draining time, but please don't give up just because you see 38 around the corner. Maybe you just need a little time. We took our second extended break when I was 37, and I definitely needed it. I'm in a much better place right now at 39. While the know the chances may be a little less, and the pain will suck worse if it doesn't work, I'm glad we took that break and I'm glad we're trying again. Never say never. Do what's best for you. Just know that we're all in your corner!

I don't think it is just the age thing. I just get so depressed over this crap. It sucks. We gave it more than a year. I know people go longer. For me it's just a bit too taxing. I wish I had more strength to keep going. There is just a lot wrong with my body and we really did just about everything imaginable to fix it this cycle........and it still didn't work. You are probably right, maybe a big break is what we need. I am willing to try a break..... I am scared though because even in the 6 months since my m/c I got further away from wanting to do this transfer because I was starting to feel "normal" again. ::::sigh:::: I guess we shall see what decision I come to after my WTF appt

  • Thanks for all the well wishes! I think they've helped because I'm feeling better today. Bumpy roads are no fun when the initial pain meds wear off. Tylenol definitely is helpful!

I also got the fert report: 35 mature, 32 fertilized. DH and I are astounded. The nurse said she's never seen anything like it and I suspect the doctor hasn't either. He warned us yesterday that when so many eggs are retrieved often only half of them are mature, so that's what we expected.

DH has been so sweet. He fed me as soon as we got home and is making sure I have easy access to everything since moving is uncomfortable. I'm still concerned about OHSS, so cabergoline, salt, and powerade are my friends. Would such a high number of mature eggs further increase the likelihood of OHSS?

@o2girl Hope it's still too early.

@tumbleweed123 That nurse is... amazing. I'm working on improving photography skills for work.

@chicory I'm suspicious of these low vitamin D levels. Everybody seems to have that problem since they raised the recommended level.

@mrscw @futuremrsbaldwin2012 I hope your recovery is still going well.

    @jeezidunno Sorry you're delayed.

  • Hi ladies!! Sorry Ive been MIA, I took a much needed vacation this past week from everything, work, phone, facebook, and the computer (I was going crazy googling everything). It was so relaxing and exactly what I needed to get through stims. I celebrated my 30th birthday with family and friends and have been keeping my mind off things by getting A LOT of cleaning done around the house. Heres the quick run down, I had my last U/S & E2 this morning and planning on triggering tonight and egg retrieval on Sunday. My numbers have been all out of whack which resulted in daily monitoring (3 hr drive round trip) thank goodness I had the extra time off work to travel back and forth. I have 3 follies on left that arent going so well because of Endo, and 7 on the right, heres the catch: I have some big and some very little, the dr said they usually retrieve around 18/19mm but he wanted to keep going to let the little ones catch up, his fear was that the big one would start ovulation and take the other eggs with it, resulting in so much monitoring. My numbers are 24mm, 21mm, 17mm, 15mm, 13mm. So im just a bundle of nerves and excitement to see how many we get on Sunday, I will update you on Monday. Wish me luck!!

QOTW: I changed my mind alot growing up, I wanted to do everything, Cheerleader, Ski Instructor, Fire Fighter, Teacher, Nurse. When it came down to choosing a career, I knew I didnt want a typical 9-5 desk job. So I chose to be a 911 dispatcher and I love it, but I never lost sight of the other things I wanted to be, Ive done them all too. I was a cheerleader in High School and now help coach. I volunteer ski instructing, teaching adaptive children and disabled vets how to snow ski. I volunteer at the local Fire Dept and have worked on the Ambulance as an EMT. I love working with kids and my mom was a teacher, and through her, I started getting involved in school programs to work with kids. At 16 I designed my own fire prevention program and teach local Elementary/Preschool kids all about fire safety, yesterday was my 14th year doing it and it has grown into an all day event for the kids, involving assemblies, 5 other local departments bringing trucks for the kids to tour, smoke house tours, sparky the dog and smokey the bear!! I may not teach in a class room but it sure is fun to teach something dear to your heart.

  • @tweetyknicks~ I'm not positive if OHSS has anything to do with mature vs. immature eggs. I THINK it's because after they are retrieved the ovaries fill up with fluid. So you should keep drinking as much as you can!
  • @lynnlee7 Wow, you do a lot!

@aliciafiggy Thanks. I'm keeping myself good and waterlogged.

  • @02girl You have really been through a lot, and you have to do whatever is best for you and your spouse. That's the most important thing. Trust your instincts. They'll never steer you wrong. The decision whether to try again, not try again, take a break, etc. is the only thing in our control in this completely uncontrollable world of fertility issues. I wish you nothing but the best!!

I know what you're saying. It was really hard for me to decide to start again after a year break. Like you, I was finally feeling "normal" and found a little peace. But something snapped when I turned 39, and my instinct said to try again. The BFN in August was a BITCH because I was confident it would work this time. The weeks since then have been hard because my body is still adjusting to the crazy hormone levels, and now I'm starting this all over again. I question whether it's worth it. But I know that for me, I have to try because I don't want to have regrets.
