Am I the only one that has ZERO toys for their LO to attempt to pull up on??? Not that I feel like she's close to doing that anyway. She hasn't even rolled either way yet, but sits up really well. I feel like I'm holding her back because I'm terrified of our hardwood floor, even with the foam mat. UGH. /paranoid mom rant
I have no specific toys for W to pull up on! She just finds things like the couch, or coffee table, or packing boxes. :)

I was really scared about her falling at first, but I relaxed some as she's gotten sturdier. In the beginning I was right behind her like a hawk. She's taken a few tumbles, and it's scary, but I try to remember that it's normal. My pediatrician warned me that bumps and bruises at this stage are going to happen, and it's okay!! It's all part of the process.

Don't beat yourself up, mama!! It's definitely scary. You're not ruining your baby, I promise. <3

  • I'm not defending bitchy Mr Dot, but I've had mono, and it's really awful. I remember my parents would put a video on for me, and I'd be asleep before the previews finished. And the sleep thing can be very long lasting, unfortunately. I also started getting chronic sore throats and eventually got my tonsils out.

@BlueDot818 I agree with pp that it sounds like there is really something bothering him deeply. How has he adjusted to your new life?
    This.

I feel like some of these comments/attitude have been around a lot longer than the mono.

I agree @bluedot818 ((hugs)) I know how terrible mono can be but its not a blanket excuse for being a douche-osaurus. It sounds like Mr. Dot has some growing up to do and he needs to realize how kick ass his wife really is.

  • OK my toe is still killing me. And now my stomach is gives me troubles. And LO and are I home alone. I'm terrified he's going to crawl away and find sharp but rusty knives to play with while I'm stuck in the bathroom and/or trying to hobble after him. BF had to go out for a minute and put LO in the Jumperoo. Why does he hate it? Jumping is fun!

  • @laurlaurlaur - people are such assumers.  I have a friend with 4 kids, she was pg with #4 and with #2 and someone commented about how she's about to learn how tough it is or some such nonsense and she laughed and replied, oh sweetie this is #4, I know!

@missy0483 - nothing specific here, we have a walker-push toy thing but it's in the basement still lol. Kids will use couch/table/etc - no need for a specific toy. FWIW we have hardwoods throughout our house and LO1 learned to walk/etc just fine. He fell, of course, but rarely did it ever leave a mark. He usually got bruises from kitchen cabinet corners moreso than anywhere else. Kids will learn how to catch themselves by falling. You won't break your baby!

@greenbunny79 - totally inappropriate and not out of line for you to speak up. I hate, HATE that speaking up = pc police or no sense of humor or whatever. NO. Joking about a coworkers body is not ok.  And, hahahah she has boobs? That's not even funny.

  • Add us to the list of "no specific toys to pull up on"... she pulls up on everything anyway! We actually just replaced our coffee table with a storage ottoman so there were no pointy edges (I love our coffee table and didn't want to risk ruining it with the foam stuff), and that's her favorite thing in the world to pull up on, and then use as a giant drum.

Annnnnd, I just noticed that my pants are on backwards.

    WINNING

My sweater was on inside out. I only noticed because I went to put my phone in my sweater pocket and it crashed to the floor and skidded to within 6 inches of falling into the train tracks. Then I spent a full minute spinning like a dog after it's tail trying to figure out what was wrong with my pocket.

    I LOLed at this visual.

@tessymessy, they're yoga pants, thank god. There'd be something realllllly wrong with me if I put jeans on backwards and didn't notice for 1/2 a day.

@Codypup just checking. . I know you have been stressed lately ;-)

Marshmallow fluff = gross to me, so I have zero interest in adding that to a pb sandwich. Sorry?

  • @BlueDot818‌ The nana messy house thing really could be it. My bf refuses to get a big deep freezer, which annoys me. I mentioned it to my BIL one day, he he said that their mom used to leave a million things in there, their meat was always freezer burnt, etc. seems small, but BF actually barely remembers this, but says no to a freezer. Maybe your husband really holds onto these issues from childhood.

  • Also my toe still really hurts. I would like someone to tuck me into bed, bring me the remote and tea, and let me watch Gilmore Girls while patting my hair until I fall asleep. Any takers?

  • @bluedot818 - I can see how if he grew up in a hoarder-esque environment he'd be more "zomgs clean!!!" about life as an adult. But that doesn't excuse being a jerk to his wife. His comments aren't nice and you deserve to be treated with kindness and respect.

Honestly, with the comments about hating his job and feeling like he's underpaid it sounds like he's simply not happy (maybe even depressed) about that, and that's why he's acting like a fool.  And I'm betting being sick isn't helping his mood either.

  • @boogerbearoriginal‌ could be all that rolled into one big mountain of stress.
That's what it sounds like, because I know him so well....;)

But truly, I know when I'm stressed/unhappy, I tend to lash out at H. It's not right, and I am working on it but I can sympathize with Mr. BlueDot.  It's hard to be the best partner to our spouse when we're struggling.

I hope he starts feeling better soon, and maybe he needs to consider reevaluating his employment situation if it's making him miserable.

I just got into an argument with a restaurant owner.

There's an aritizia warehouse sale right by my house, so parking in that lot is crazy.  I drove across the street to the restaurant parking, legit looked for a sign that said "restaurant parking only", didn't see one so i parked (it was also 1030 so i didn't even think the restaurant was open).  As i'm getting out the owner goes "are you planning on staying there?"  and i said "…yes.." and he said something along the lines of not being able to because it's for the restaurant, so i said "is there a sign?"  and then he got so mad at me.  He said "okay i was trying to be nice but then you are all pissy.  no there is no sign.  everyone else has been so understanding and you have a bad attitude and are pissy"

so i went "huh? because i asked a question??" (as he's walking away) then he turned around and again explained how i'm pissy and i said "great service here, i just asked a question" and he went on and on so i said "well looks like i'm never coming to this restaurant" and got in my car and left (as i was in my car i could hear him yelling stuff at me but didn't hear what cuz my door was shut).

    arg.  i hate people.
Eta-its also a big lot, not just for the restaurant.
  • @magentawarped‌ Naples... w/ the ILs. 8-}

Ah, Naples is nice. Just escape the ILs for awhile. My grandparents used to snowbird in Naples.
  • That is one skeptical looking kangaroo.
  • @dreamingBabies you're singing to the choir! Just plopped a "drowsy" baby off in bed... total thought it was going to be a roll to the belly and pass out night... nope... he's sitting up... scratching the mattress. Not making a sound otherwise... it's been 10 minutes.. I guess I just leave him since he's quiet... :-/
    Go to sleep, T!!!!!!!!

W fought it with every inch of her being tonight. At one point she was crying, and I thought it might be gas, so I did the thing where I bring her knees up to her chest. Her cries turned into hysterical laughter, so I started laughing, and that wound us both up again.

lol silly girl. She's finally asleep now, but lord knows what tonight will bring.

Dang, just realized DH missed our exit sending us toward the bay area. We had to turn around and are now in commuter traffic. For those of you familiar with the area ( @golfergirl08 ), he took 580 instead of continuing on I-5 north, so now we're on the stupid 205 completely stopped. We would have missed all of this crud. Just what we needed after almost 7 hours in the car.

@iwubrory oh nooo!! 205 goes right by Tracy, and there is an In n Out off Tracy Blvd if you need a pit stop! Youch, the 580 has got to be bad around this time. :(

@golfergirl08‌ Haha thanks, you wrote that like a person from Tracy that rarely travels my direction. Everyone around here knows 205 goes through Tracy (why I tagged you), it's the best way to get to the Bay Area. We're through it all now but it cost a lot of time.
