So I've kind of been MIA the last few weeks...

I've barely touched my computer the last 3 weeks... My youngest came down with HFM and as a precaution the doctor wanted to examine all three of my boys just because. Well in the exam of my oldest they found that he hasn't gained any weight, he has petechiae all over his back, and a few other things... anyway over the last 3 weeks for my kids alone I have been to the doctors, hospital, or the lab on 13 different occasions.

So far they think he might have cancer or an autoimmune disorder... but his tests are all coming back perfect so they aren't really sure where to go next they are waiting one month (unless he starts getting really sick) and testing him again. In the mean time I have to document every cough, sneeze, I's and O's, sleep patterns, take his temp 3 times a day, watch for twitches, shakes, bruises, or more petechiae.

Oh, and the HFM cleared up in only 6 days and I had a friend come over and help me sanitize my house on days 5 and 7... so far so good.

I've been thinking this too. But my doctor keeps reminding me "some forms of leukemia and a lot of autoimmune disorders aren't detectable in the blood the first few months, and it appears we caught what ever this is early".

Thanks to every one for all of the kind words I will give an update as soon as I hear back from the doctor.... I've kind of been feeling like a crappy mom because I've noticed the fatigue and low grade fevers and a few other things... but I kept dismissing it as lack of sleep, or caused by a lack of sleep. And I should have brought him to the doctor 2 months ago.

@palm513‌ don't beat yourself up over that. Kids go through all sorts of sleep phases and nobody would think to take them to the doctor. You sound like a very good mom and he is lucky to have you.

Update: at the one month follow up they rechecked him for leukemia and the tests were normal... they are kind of confused by the results of his monitoring... and are sending him to a specialist.

Because of that I am not wanting to push for the bone marrow biopsy... If they still have no idea and he is still sick in another month I will.

Autoimmune disorders suck, but are manageable. There's several that are hard to diagnose but wih a specialist fx you're headed on the right track to a solid answer and reasonable treatment.
