Breastfeeding

breasts not the same size

Hey ladies!  This may be a silly question but I just noticed last night that my left breast looks like a cup size bigger than my right!? I have been switching DS after 10-15 on the first breast and then moving him to the opposite breast for the next 10-15.  Also, I always start with the breast my DS finished with last.  I'm not sure what I did wrong or how I can fix this?  It's already a nightmare for me to buy bras because my nursing bra is a 38G, and I don't want any more difficulties in that area.  Any advice would be appreciated!!!  TIA. :)

Re: breasts not the same size

  • I think it's common to have a difference. You can try to always offer the smaller side first, but that hasn't make a difference for me.

  • Yep, I think it's common to have one "stud" and one "dud" so I don't think you're doing anything wrong.  Both of my breasts grew during pregnancy but the left one grew more.  And the left was a bigger milk producer and visibly larger than the right.  I didn't find that anything really helped even them out though they look more even now that my supply has dropped (LO is 16 months).
  • Thank you all so much!  I might try just starting DS on the right side for two feedings in a row for a week to see if it makes a difference.  You all made me feel better that this is normal... I was like oh no what did I do wrong!?  LOL I really appreciate your clarification/suggestions.  :)
