Have you bought any baby things yet?

Just wondering where everyone is on the buying things for baby spectrum at this stage in the game. I've started looking at cute stuff online but haven't bought anything yet.

Re: Have you bought any baby things yet?

  • I haven't bought anything yet. We will probably wait until after our anatomy scan. We still have everything from DD anyway.

My focus right now is her big girl room. I need to get going on that...

  • We are holding out till Black Friday, hoping to catch a deal or two. Although a few friends bought us small things to congratulate us after our NT scan. Blankets, teddy bear, and some cute outfits.
  • I've purchased the crib, special ordered bedding, a few neutral clothing items I've found, couple of books, a blanket and a towel.

  • Nothing yet. In we are having another girl we won't need anything except for a crib. If we are having a boy we will just need crib and clothes. So since we we don't know yet... Not much to buy.
  • We haven't bought anything yet and won't until the anatomy scan.
  • I haven't yet. But I have much less to get second time around.
  • We're buying a friend's pack n play, but other than that, nothing.  We probably won't buy anything until after our anatomy scan at the end of Nov.  My parents have already offered to buy the crib. We're just starting to look at travel systems (holy overwhelmed), but most likely won't buy anything until after Christmas.  We're not planning on buying too much right away, we'll see what we get at showers and then fill in the gaps.

  • I bought a couple outfits after my earlier ultrasounds because I was just so excited. I've also picked up some books when I see them because we plan to read to the baby after 16w.

Other than that nothing big though. I know our parents want to get us stuff for Christmas so I'll have to at least pick out some things by then.

  • I've bought four pairs of baby leggings at 60cents each, that's it ... Bargain I couldn't resist and if it's not a girl I have a friends bub they can go to or I donate them to charity at no real loss
  • We haven't but my aunt sent a Red Sox tee shirt, my mom sent a book. Oh I did by a pack of hangers so I could hang the tee shirt. We got the floors for nursery but that was on list anyway we are doing a room at a time.

We are going to start our registry this month bc we have plans every weekend until Christmas an our parents want to purchase some things for xmas.

  • we haven't bought anything yet but my parents sent us a blanket and dh's parents sent a onesie.  We did already start our registry because we live in BFE and happened to be near a BuyBuyBaby a couple of weekends ago.  Its likely that we won't be back that way again, so bit the bullet even though I was a little embarrassed about how early it was.  Now I'm working on actually trying to figure out what we want from it and price shopping, I linked BBB to Babyli.st and will use that registry if anyone asks us if we registered.

  • Nothing for baby yet. But I did buy some maternity clothes on clearance. We are hoping for some Black Friday sales. And like others, we are also waiting to find out the sex.

  • A local consignment shop had a $10 bag sale last weekend (stuff as much as you can in a bag and only pay $10 for it all). I can't believe how much we got for so cheap. Other than that we haven't bought anything yet. We will probably wait until the anatomy scan to start buying.

  • H was traveling for work and picked up this onesie in the great city of Nashville. No real shopping plans for awhile. Waiting for Black Friday, post-holiday sales, and the baby shower.

Even though this is my first, I really have no desire to buy/request more than just the essentials, like funny onesies. What more could this bun need?
  • I bought a "made in Japan" onesie for our announcement, and a few cloth diapers. I'll buy more if everything goes well today.
  • There is no more room in my house for baby/kid things! I didn't plan to purchase anything for this baby as I already have a boy and a girl and kept everything from them, but I did buy a newborn cloth diaper that was on final clearance because I have always wanted to try that particular brand and I loved the print but it had been discontinued. I actually bought it when I was pretty sure I was pregnant but hadn't even tested yet.
  • I bought a lovie from Carter's after I found the heartbeat with my Doppler. It is a Scottie dog with a red blanket. I couldn't resist.

We've bought some items to help make our one-bedroom NYC apartment ready for baby (a new/additional pantry, a set of drawers for under the bathroom vanity that will serve as our changing station). I also was fortunate enough to have won a e-gift card from Tea Collection when I was pregnant the first time (it didn't feel very lucky at the time since the pregnancy ended in mc, though), so I felt like spending that was a nice way to cheat and buy some things for our baby boy without spending 'real' money. It fulfilled the urge and I'm now on lockdown until we start making necessity purchases.

Edit because autocorrect was not correct

  • I keep having to stop myself from looking because then I would buy. I am also afraid of jinxing the health of my pregnancy because I'm dumb. Maybe after my 12 week checkup and test results, I will feel comfortable looking. Little baby stuff is just too cute!
  • We bought a onesie for our, eventual, announcement. We're not buying anything else this early on, as this is our first pregnancy and we're trying to be cautious (is that the right word? maybe sensible... I don't know).

  • We traded my car in for an SUV. We have a crib, changing table, pack n play, bumbo seat and a frog bouncer. All compliments of my mom and her bargin shopping. I've told her to put a halt on anything else until we find out if we are having a boy or girl. While I'm all for 2nd hand - I would like to avoid a hodge podge of stuff.

  • I've already brought far too much, i'm mostly going white/greens/blues though. Basically anything i wouldn't mind putting on a girl!
  • I haven't bought anything myself. My SIL bought a little onesie when she found out and after our 12 week scan my husband bought a merino blanket for LO. We've definitely looked at things like strollers and cots but aren't entirely sure when we'll actually start buying those things.

  • @QSB‌ I say this out of fear because I've lived through a horrible wreck in one, please don't get a 15 passenger Ford. The one we had an accident in was older but I don't know how much they've changed. The seatbelts held NONE of us in place, the driver broke her neck in 2 places because of the seatbelt failure, she is now paralyzed from the chest down. The Chevy van that was purchased afterwards was MUCH MUCH safer than the previous one. I know your a great mom and will check all these things out yourself. <3

As far as purchasing baby items, I've gotten a crib, has changing table and drawers attached, coverts to a toddler and twin bed, mattress included. I've gotten a high chair, the booster kind that sits in a chair. I've gotten a rock n' play sleeper, a baby blanket, 3 sheets for the crib, 2 mattress protectors and an almost new rocking recliner. I got it all for $320, woot woot, I love PCS season.

    All Welcome

  • I just realized I haven't bought anything because I'm more afraid than I thought I was that something will go wrong. I have my first ultrasound at 13 weeks on Tuesday and seriously cannot wait. After that as long as everything is ok I guess I'll start buying stuff. Well, that's kind of wrong the second we found out we sold our apartment and bought a new one with room for baby. But we needed to move anyway :)
  • Team Green so I've bought a little sister onesie and a little brother onesie as well as a couple blankets. My girls call the baby "bug" so I also got a onesie that says bug on it. And I ordered the kiinde system when it was on zulily. :)
  • @QSB‌ Ah, the dreaded bus. You can join the club of Catholic fams at our parish if you like. I'm sure my DH and I will be right there with you in about 6 years ;-)

Side note: it's truly scary to see teenagers learning to drive on these things.

I have tons of clothes because i just cant control myself. and if it was up to me i would already have bought the crib and the stroller, but my husband keeps saying I should wait until christmas to see what our parents will give us. I think i will start buying diapers soon.

  • I've started to register for basics on amazon and that is keeping my shopping curbed for now. After we find out gender it is on though!
  • I haven't bought anything yet.

  • I've only bought a little pair of yellow booties but I am in the same position as some of you ladies - my hubby is making sure I don't get too carried away. Otherwise I am guessing I would have a few more little things.

  • I bought some of those mitten-cuff side snap shirts(white) because I only just discovered them last baby and they are brilliant(!!!), and a 3 pack of Avent Natural bottles because I'm planning to switch to those this time.

I have my elective scan in 3 weeks, once that's done I'll go a bit apeshit with shopping ;)
    Due with #5 April 22, 2015. It's a girl!!!!!

Yes it was planned, yes we know what causes that, no we are not on public assistance, and yes we will be getting cable after this. ;)

  • We have everything we need from our son, but just bought some additional nursery decor items. The nursery will have the same theme but will be changed around so it's not exactly the same. We want to get started early so we have time to change things slowly and come to terms with using the room again. It's still a bit early, but we need the extra time.
