Trouble TTC

possible pregnancy symptoms but negative test?

hey im new, i took a test this morning and its negative. i am 12 dpo so could this possibly be ttoo early? symptoms include nausia, headache, dry mouth, needing to pee all the time...also my cervix is high and hard which i read could be a pregnancy symptom. my partner and i have been trying for over a year now and this is the first time this has happened and my ob said it could be a side effect to my meds but like i said this has never happened before. idk what do you guys think? thanks :) in advance

Re: possible pregnancy symptoms but negative test?

  • It could be too early, or it could not be. It's impossible for us to tell you, you will just have to keep testing and see if your period shows up. Are you sure you are 12 dpo? What meds are you on? Are you being monitored? As the ladies here will tell you, it's very important if you are taking any fertility medications to be working with an RE (NOT an OB/GYN) and to be properly monitored.

    Me: 27 DH: 35

    Started RE Testing July 2014

2 HSG tests: Right tube is blocked, possible endo.

    Nov-Dec 2014: Femara + Ovidrel + IUI #2 (1 follie, 76 mil. motile sperm) + Endometrin=BFN

    January, 2014: Femara + Ovidrel + IUI #3 (1 follie, 38 mil. motile sperm)=???

  • Do us a favor. Google pregnancy symptoms. Now Google AF symptoms. Now Google the side effects of any medication you are on.

Why would you think we'd know the answer to this? Here's some advice. Keep retesting till either AF shows up, or you get a positive test. That is how you will know you are PG.

  • How are we supposed to know if you're pregnant?

If you're getting negative tests, you're either not pregnant or not pregnant enough to turn a test positive. Your symptoms are either from progesterone or not related to your cycle, so they mean nothing.

  • Welcome. As far as the symptoms, I have never been pregnant so I have no clue. You could still keep your OB for paps and would go back once you are preggos. However, they most likely don't have the training of an RE. It doesn't hurt to just get a referral and meet with an RE to get a second opinion. Good luck this cycle.

  • tl;dr I don't know how you thought a TROUBLE trying to conceive board that you've never participated in would be the right place to post this question, first of all. Secondly, the test isn't lying to you. There is a chart somewhere in the TTGP newbie blog about accuracy of test on different days past ovulation. negative test = not pregnant at this time.

Are you being properly monitored? Most likely not, since you're seeing an OB. You should really be seeing an RE (reproductive endocrinologist). Read the newbie blog, lurk, and intro on the appropriate board based on where you're at (Hint: the descriptions of each board are at the top of the boards under their titles).

@kellygurl24‌ please recognize that the reactions here are due to your inappropriate post. If you want to know what we think, we think you should go see an RE. If you don't want to take that advice, your call...but please don't post asking us if we think you're pregnant. Bye Felicia!
I just thought if anyone would know it'd be you guys. didn't realize asking about symptoms was such a touchy subject. sorry, but i just think thats silly
@kellygurl24, No, what's silly is that you think we can tell you if your symptoms mean that you're pregnant even though the tests have been negative.

  • Seriously @kellygurl24‌ Why would you think that this is an appropriate question for a trouble trying to conceive board? You're not even seeing an RE? Please check the newbie blog, I have no patience for this today.

  • i didn't expect you to know, i was asking your opinions you don't need to be rude.
OP - Your original question was "what do you guys think" about your symptoms. So there are really only a couple ways to understand that question: 1) You want us to analyze your symptoms and tell you what they're from without knowing your diagnosis, treatment protocol, etc (which would be information you would share in a proper introduction. or 2) You wanted somebody to just say "The test could be wrong (which is highly unlikely) and you very well may be pregnant. If you lurked around here, you would know that we don't like to give false hope to each other. And the Newbie blog goes would have answered your questions, eliminating the need for this whole thread.
Ok I'm sorry but why should I have to read a blog so that I say the right thing? If you guys arent willing to answer my question without sitting there and being rude then I dont want to be a part of it nyway, It's dumb, we're all trying to have babies why do you feel the need to rip each others throats out over it
I sincerely don't think anybody was being rude here. Again, if you lurked around here for a bit and got a feel for the board culture, you'd know that there are some people who swear, some who are very blunt, etc. But that does not translate into rudeness. You would also learn that these questions are inappropriate because they are unanswerable. Infertility is a sensitive topic for everybody. THAT is why reading the Newbie blog, lurking to feel out the community etiquette and getting a feel for others' personalities is important.

As far as your question goes, I will repeat what others have said. A negative test means not pregnant at this time. If you are far enough along in a pregnancy to show symptoms, you should be far enough along to have a positive test. You could be having side effects from whatever meds you're taking (hopefully there are no estrogen-producing cysts you've grown from unmonitored meds) or you could just be experiencing phantom symptoms.

Hon, absolutely no one on here has been rude to you. You should see some of the other boards of people asking the same question; they get a lot sassier, more than you could ever handle. So far the answers have been really insightful. I would just stop where you are now and thank all the nice ladies for their answers and then move along and do as they have suggested by reading newbie blogs and lurking around a bit.
if other boreds are worse than this then you guys are jerks. K I'm done, bye
And by the way, if you acted like this on another board (Trying to Get Pregnant, for example), you'd get much more attitude than this.  Good luck!

@kellygurl24‌ there is a reason that it is procedure to warn about a BFP in anything you post. Afters years of being unable to conceive, it can hurt to see a BFP announcement. We are happy for those women who are in the trenches with us, sharing our pain. If is different for a complete stranger who we don't know. Not trying to be silly, or insensitive to your hopefully good news. I just hope that you would understand this, since you are supposedly on the same tough road as us.
