My daughter is 19 months. And we are pregnant with our second. We want to move her into a big girl bed, but I have no idea how to make this a change as smooth as possible.Just wondering how you ladies did it. And if you have any good tips. Thanks
We switched DS at 14 months into a toddler bed when DD was on the way. He loved it. Before the official switch we first laid his mattress in the spot where the bed was going to go, and he thought that was hilarious. Then we had the bed in the room for a couple weeks before he started sleeping in it. We wanted him to get used to it, be able to climb around & check it out, etc. I think we gave the whole process about 3 weeks before he actually started sleeping in the bed. (part of that wait was because a piece of the footboard had broken in shipping, so we had to wait to get a replacement part sent.) When he started sleeping in it he did great. We had to get a bedrail specifically sized for toddler beds, the built-in rail that was part of the bed frame didn't go down nearly far enough and he moves around a ton in his sleep. We also taught him pretty early on how to safely climb out of bed so that he wasn't tempted to climb over the bed rail or over the footboard & wind up hurting himself.
