August 2014 Moms

New Facebook group?

I'll be brave and put it out there - would anyone be interested in a new Facebook group? With DS1 I joined a group that was formed after all the babies were born and it's an amazing group of moms! But it did pretty much kill the BMB on TB (after a few months - maybe that would've happened anyway?)

We made it a secret group so everyone was more comfortable sharing photos, etc. But if you have your employer listed on your Facebook it will show up so there's still that barrier :(

Re: New Facebook group?

  • that's fine with me. I use both. It seemed like there were a number of people in the other thread who were interested.

  • Hey, I just learned how to finally add a proper signature so I'm on TB for the long haul now. (had lots of issues resizing pictures :-<)

Personally I feel like that might fracture the current group of participants even further. Especially if the group is being built up with some more newbies or people finally with time/comfort to participate.

There are pros and cons either way I guess!

  • I'd rather stay here! And I've been kicking it here since February.
  • I vote to stay here too.
  • I'll do both:)

  • Personally I'd like to just stay here unless everyone starts leaving. I just have a different mindset here than when I'm on fb. On the other hand I do like how fb is more private. Seeing how searching user names brings up our photos and threads did kinda bother me. I'm torn...
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • I'd juggle both.
  • Odd rather stay on here, personally.
  • I'm staying here! Have been here since the beginning, and will continue to use TB :)

  • I would prefer to stay here. I already waste too much time on Facebook, although I spend a lot here too! I am finally feeling more comfortable and more like a regular now that we have thinned out a bit, and I find I have more to say.

I also only Bump from my laptop, and I feel bad for you who use the app, but I do like the layout of the page on the computer. I definitely get why you ladies are thinking about doing one though, I would just like to keep it all here and I would be sad if we lost more people.

  • I'll also just continue to stay on TB. The anonymity of this forum is key for me. I'm surprised to learn I'm apparently more privacy conscious than most.
  • I would love to join but I am not comfortable sharing all the personal info, like my employer. I will stay anonymous here.

I'm in the same mindset. I barely FB anyways so I prefer to stick to TB.
  • As one of the newbies I hope you all stay :)
  • I'm one of the ones who is hesitant to join a FB group because of my employer too. Reason being that I like to say whatever I want on here. On FB, I have to be more cautious because I don't want to say anything that can be construed as an opinion of my employer. I like having my employer displayed however, because there are a few other people with my name, and that's how people I have just met can distinguish me.

I like TB over Facebook too because I'm actually on here more. And I like all the newbies joining here.

Totally agree with @kaitm22 about feeling more comfortable now that the group has thinned out. I'm all for snark, but am I the only one who thinks that the overall tone is more positive and welcoming now? Before it seemed like heaven forbid someone asked a repeat question, or stated a UO that wasn't in the majority. This will probably get flamed for that, but whatever. The few I think would have a problem with that have already stated they're done on TB and probably won't even read this. Eta: I'm not leaving either. Facebook has seen its heyday imo.
Totally with you here.  I've been here since the very beginning, but would rarely post because I was worried I would be chastised for not being "regular" enough.   I would consider a different Facebook group in a year or so with a smaller group of people.

=D>  I had these feelings as well.

  • I agree - tb isn't as busy, but it's also not as snarky. Phew.
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • We need a ladyabagail to unite us... any volunteers?

  • This whole thing is so weird.

Ditto. We're missed but not missed at all.

  • And some of us were just responding to OP's question; nothing to do with FB group members.
