I voted fresh, but I did my fresh and frozen cycles at different clinics which made difference. My fresh involved dexamethasone, lupron, ganirelix, cipro, follistim, meonpur, clindamycin supps, pregnyl, PIO, E2V Progesterone supps, and intralipids.  This is in addition to the supplements that I took.

My FET was estrace, cipro, and PIO.

This fresh cycle will be even worse.  I will be on prednisone, lupron, ganirelix, estrogen, cipro, follistim, menopur, lovenox, baby aspirin, clindamycin supps, pregnyl, PIO, E2V Progesterone supps, prometrium, and probably IVIG.   I also take the same supplements as before plus a few supplements that my RI added.

ETA: my fresh also started with BCPs, my FET did not.

    I voted Frozen.

My fresh cycle included: BCP, Gonal F/Menapur/Ganirelix, Prednisone, doxycycline, Novarel and PIO

My frozen included: BCP, Lupron, Estrace, doxycycline, and PIO

I took supplements and baby aspirin for both.

I think I find frozen worse because the cycle goes on longer and Lurpron and Estrace are tough.

  • @Twinkie0612 It sounds like this fresh cycle will be a tough one but your covering all the bases. My fingers are so crossed for you.

  • I think the only reason that the frozen cycle was "worse" is that I'm still taking PIO shots, where as with the fresh cycle, everything was done by the time it came to transfer.

This is where being with a different clinic changed my opinion.  If I ever do a frozen cycle with my current clinic (hopefully in a few years for a sibling :) ), I would be on BCP,  prednisone, lupron, delestrogen, cipro, PIO, lovenox, and IVIG if needed.  I might change my answer to agree with you, since lupron and steroids have given me many of my side effects.  My FET protocol was so simple, it just seemed like a breeze compared to my fresh cycles.

I think the Lupron is the difference for me. I did an Antagonistic for my Fresh cycle, so I didn't use Lupron. Lupron is awful.

  • If you are asking because you are choosing between, I would not choose based upon which is easier because too many little things play into it. I had thought the frozen would be easier, but I don't know whether it is because I am now older doing it or what, but I'm finding this one harder. But not hugely so, and mostly because I'm on the PIO and not Endometrium and that was just a last minute decision unrelated to FET/fresh.
  • I voted frozen because I was on lupron for longer was horrible to me this last fet cycle. I had a migraine for 11 days straight! I will gladly take multiple pokes in the tummy a day if it means less migraines.

I was just curious what ladies thought regarding the topic mostly because I'm having such a tough time with this FET prep.

  • I vote frozen and I haven't even had to do it yet. My fresh was pretty much a breeze. I did Bravelle, Menopur, Lupron, estrace, and Endometrin, but never had any side effects and only had one IM, my trigger. This time I'll be on estrace, Endometrin and PIO, which I have been dreading since we started this whole IVF thing. I don't have very much meat on my bottom, and really fear running out of places to poke myself. :( Has anyone given themselves PIO in the thigh? Is that allowed?
