  • @AprilMay9‌ ugh that is so rude!

When I was younger my friends were talking about this guy who refused to date attractive girls. At the time I was like wtf?!

    Now I get it.

  • I let PF watch a kid's show every now and then for a bit.  Sometimes I just need 10 minutes to accomplish getting out of the house in the morning and sitting her so she can see the TV and watch it helps me get ready if she's extra needy and not entertaining herself on the playmat or swing.  Flame away.......

I feel like a moron for asking but what does PF mean? I always read your posts and cannot figure it out. (Sorry, I'm sure it's been covered somewhere)

DS also gets a few mins of TV time when his older brother watches it in the mornings. It's the only way I get out of the house with dry hair.
  • If you're worried about autism, check out this video: https://www.parents.com/videos/device/mobile/v/78954740/early-signs-of-autism.htm

It's more for babies a bit older than ours, but it's still useful in that you can see what kinds of behaviours to actually keep an eye out for. DH and I watched it last year to reassure ourselves. Then over the winter DH visited his cousin and later told me that he thought cousin's toddler was behaving like the kids in the video on the spectrum...and last week cousin told DH that their 2 year old is now seeing a pediatrician for a possible autism diagnosis. I don't say this to freak everyone out, but rather to say that it really is helpful to see what kinds of behaviours to look for.

I think I accidentally killed a lizard this morning. I opened the door to get him safely out of the house, and I think I closed the door too quickly. I can't bear to look :(

Just looked -- he's definitely a gonner. I somehow need to dispose of his remains before DD gets home from school. RIP.
  • @AprilMay9‌ I get that way too. I'm weirdly possessive of my name and typically dislike others who share it, especially because they usually spell it "wrong" aka differently

My LO tasted peanut butter yesterday. It was an accident. I was chasing her sister around trying to get her to eat her peanut butter sandwhich. I had a piece in my fingers and in a moment of distraction popped it in the first open mouth which happened to be LO's. Took a few seconds for me to realize what I had done. Then I had to try and pry it out of her mouth. She didn't want to give it up. Kept licking her lips after. Here I was freaking out (on the inside) and she was all smiles.

This happened this morning when I was making a pb sandwich. I was holding LO and spreading it in the bread and her hand must have hit the bread because later I noticed peanut butter on her face which most likely means it got in her mouth since that's where her hands ultimately go. I will be more careful from now on!

  • My SIL makes me a little stabby sometimes. She is a bit of a know it all and is always giving me unsoicited advice. Yes she is a mom but truth is her kids were always poorly behaved and her daughter has issues that she failed to address for a long time. So no, I don't want to do things your way thank you very much.

Also every get together with her is a production. Meals at her house are always on the good dishes and a big production. And she is always dressed up and wearing stilettos - even in her own house. Sometimes I want to tell her to go throw on a pair of jeans and give me a hamburger on a freaking paper plate.

All of this makes me feel horrible because she is really a nice person. I just always feel like I am being judged by her.

I was all ready to like the new girl in my office, then I caught her walking around barefoot.

    Nope.

    Instant hate.
Uh oh I totally did that when I was pregnant. Not to meetings or anything - but to the printer and back....
Hehe, I give pregnant ladies a pass.  I remember all too well my horrible monster feet.

This chick is not pregnant, just a "free spirit."  She can do that shit at home.
  • I bought pumpkin spice Oreos to send my box buddy just to be nice and sat in the parking lot of the post office and thought "haha yeah right" and opened them.
    I don't blame you....delicious!
  • LO is obsessed with the remote controls. He wants to play with them and slobber all over them. So I bought him his own toy remote.

You have to watch this, it's hilarious: https://www.neatorama.com/2014/08/12/Baby-Is-Absolutely-Mesmerized-by-the-Remote-Control/

As your box buddy I totally approve of this decision ;-) I would have done the same!

  • My sleeping husband and I are snuggling in bed while the baby naps, it is raining, the house is clean, the laundry is done, and it is sooo quiet. Heaven.

Too bad I have to be at work in half an hour.

Noooo! It's Friday! I say play hooky. ;;)

  • @CalinAZ‌ Probably no reason to worry, but good to know that you're aware of what to watch for. As I'm sure you know, early intervention is key to helping kids on the spectrum. This has kind of been in the back of my mind too, for no other reason than my LO is a boy and DH & I aren't so young ;). Do you watch Parenthood? I love how they portray Asperger's syndrome.

@steph1977 Yep, LO being a boy also makes it more on our minds. Parenthood does a great job, though funny enough it prompted my parents to wonder if I did have Aspergers, since his fear of fire in that one episode was similar, I guess, to how I was with moths and some other things when I was young. Don't really remember it, but they were pretty dismissive of my fears at the time, and actually apologized to me after seeing that episode :)

  • DH keeps saying he has some sort of surprise planned for me tomorrow. FFFC, I don't really like surprises and I REALLY don't like it when everyone else (ie his mom) knows about it and I don't.
  • Also, there are so many things I should be doing right now but instead I'm laying on the couch, eating cookies, bumping, and listening to wgvu real oldies. Because it's Friday night and I just don't care.

I spent $500 on clothes for dd last month

I don't think I've spent $500 total on DD since I got knocked up (barring the hospital bills). I'm jealous and kind of impressed...

ETA: didn't figure in diapers and wipes. Maybe I'm close to $500 then. But all our baby "furniture" (stroller, carseat, high chair, bumpo, swing, bouncer, crib, glider) were gifted as was a ton of her clothes and a bunch of diapers wipes. It was pretty awesome :)
