I'm up pumping and bumping before I have to leave for my in-service conference day. It's a longer drive for me, so I have to leave early. That throws off our whole morning routine. Poo!
But W woke up warm, and not herself. Low grade fever (99.7 at the highest), suuuuper congested and coughing, super fussy. She fell back asleep 45 minutes after waking up, which is not like her.
I'm calling the pedi today and asking them to see us before the weekend.
This isn't a big deal, right? Rationally, she's okay - she ate a lot over night, has had no weird diapers, just clearly fighting something. And the doctor should reassure me.
@Codypup definitely call the pedi for reassurance. DS has had a couple of days before with a low grade temp ~99.5 and our pedi wasn't worried as long as he was still eating and diapers were fine. DS has been congested for the past week and it's most likely allergies or teeth. FX that W is feeling better when she wakes up.
Thanks @ciaomama. I'm trying to remain logical. My biggest fear (at the moment) is that something will come up over the weekend, when I'm alone and the doctor is closed. At least if I get her in there today they can check her ears and her lungs and I'll know it's nothing serious.
I'm purposefully not giving tylenol so I can see what the temp does naturally. I just felt her and she feels okay - warm-ish but not crazy hot.
I also have my friend (and sponsor) on call to come help me this weekend if something DOES come up. Reinforcements!!!!
@codypup that makes sense.
We took DS into the dr to get checked because of a cough last week and the dr said he was fine, but gave us what I thought was really good advice. He said that if between coughing bouts, DS is happy and seems ok, that it's a good sign that he just has a small cold, is teething, or its allergies. It's when he's not happy between those coughs that it's cause for concern.
ETA: the advice seemed so simple at the time, but I feel like when you're in the moment and you have what could be a sick kid, that kind of thought can really help.
It's too early to tell -- she was only up (and fussy) for 45 minutes, but I like that advice!!
@shellbell3845 hope the conference goes well. I hate when things like that mess with my schedule!
@codypup Hope W feels better. No harm in calling the pedi! That is what they are there for.
My office has a bring your dog to work day on Fridays where one person is drawn out of a hat and gets to bring their dog. Guess whose dog is coming today?! I'm excited but I am a little nervous because I need to sit down with the director of A's DC and tell her that he's withdrawing and I'm going to have my dog in the car the whole time.
Morning - OH is pissed at me cos I made him take LO to the hospital she had me up at 3, fed then wouldn't go back to sleep, projectile vom'd all over him three times in an hour then screamed for pretty much three hours! It might be just a cold and congestion, but I could feel her little chest vibrating/rattling when she breathed and she's all sad instead of happy And smiling like usual
@shellbell3845 hope the conference goes well. I hate when things like that mess with my schedule!

The dog in the car will be your excuse to say what you need to say quickly, and get out!! You won't have time to debate things because you have a reason to leave. Good luck, I would be dreading that too.
@Codypup do you have a Children's hospital by you? T had pink eye way back, and I took him there, they have an urgent care office for kids basically... something worth looking in to just in case you needed a doctor on the weekend. I'm sure you're regular pedi would know
There might be one in Savannah? We do have an Urgent Care, but it's not just for kids. And I think they're closed on Sundays. I'll ask the pedi today!
DD hadn't poo'd for two days so she thought 3:30am was a good time to let it loose. I haven't been able to get back to sleep since cleaning up the mess and getting her back down. She's suddenly taking to going a couple days between poops which results in a deluge of poo, not good for vacation...
@dexter&11 That sounds horrible, I hope LO is better soon. I'd definitely be taking my baby in if she'd done those things.
@Codypup I hope Willa wakes up much better. Try to keep all those staying calm tips in mind. I know it's hard but it'll be ok.
Oh yeah, @BlueDot818 I'm probably looking at 8 or 9 hours driving to Disneyland on Saturday so I'll be counting on nanaramalamadingdong to keep me entertained.
@iwurbrory I have a not so consistent pooper and always have. I've found doing pears or peas once a day helps it a ton. Prunes for breakfast if we missed had a day with no poops as well. That's the only time I do prunes or its too much poop!
Thanks but the funny thing is, is that she's not eating solids right now. She had an allergic reaction so the GI wanted to hold off on solids until her poo returned to normal. So this is quite a change from multiple dirties a day.
@Shellbell3845 I hate when routines are messed up too. I never got the hang of being an hourly employee (though I did it for almost 10 years) because I liked a set work schedule.
@ciaomama I would find it bittersweet too. Could you throw a little ceremony or something? Celebratory drink? Something to focus on the positives instead of the bitter parts.
@codypup Definitely worth the call. I hate when they seem to be off on Fridays and you know you are going into the weekend. You feel like your lifeline wont be available! But it is good to be proactive and also to have your sponsor on standby to help out with anything!
@bluedot818 Good luck with that. Saturday randoms should be fun. :-bd
@djtippietoes Hope they listen to you and it all goes way more smoothly than you are anticipating. You are doing the best thing for your baby!
@Dexter Hospital visit worthy, though I hope it turns out to be a quick bug and she starts feeling better soon.
I had a fantastic UO that I was going to share...and for some reason got it in my head that it needed to be a part of FFFC. So, I missed the UO post yesterday and its not even close to a confession really. So now I have to try to remember it for another week!
My sister is getting married at the end of the month, and today I am online shopping for some lingerie! Ooo la la!

Thanks Ladies - Em has a nasty cold and is just congested according to the Dr. The rattling chest is resonating sound, and if she's sick again it's fine as long as it's not everything she's taken in....how I'm meant to tell that when she's BF I'm not sure, but there you go! They gave us some dialites to replace lost salts cos of the sick, but that's about it. Still, at least I checked
I'm working from home today, so was able to sleep in a bit. Logged about an hour before DD woke up. Now she is up, fed, and playing. I should be going back downstairs to work, but I'd really like a shower first--which won't happen until DD takes a nap. FWP!

Ugh, I was super pumped because DD's middle of the night poo looked good, no mucus. She just had a little poo and it had a big wod of mucus and some blood. I have 100% not had any dairy, I cut soy, peanuts, tree nuts, she hasn't had any solids. I've been eating Corn Pops like it's my job this week so maybe she's allergic to corn??
Everything went fine with the daycare. The director looked like she was about to cry, which I didn't expect. But she said my concerns were valid and she understood. She also said I could have today be his last day.
Dog is chilling under my desk. It's raining so he's nervous.
Ok so I feel really dumb. But my happiness is outweighing my stupid feeling. We just got back from the pedi, and the official diagnosis is.....
Teething!
Her ears, throat, and nose look perfect, her lungs are clear, and she had no fever at all when we got there. She also put on some good weight since the last time we went, which was just an added bonus.
She's napping now and then I'm taking her happy ass to daycare for the afternoon. Mama needs to recharge for this weekend. We missed picture day but it was worth it for the peace of mind I feel right now.
Thank you guys for letting me talk this out!!! I you all.
@Codypup I was going to suggest that! L gets a runny nose and low fever sometimes when teeth are about to come through. I'm glad she's not sick!
@joybaby5 me too!!!!!!!! Like I could happy dance right now. The doctor looked in her mouth and can see where the next tooth is about to pop through.
I also asked her how to tell the difference between teething ear-pulling and ear infection ear-pulling, and she said you can't. Soooo I don't feel quite as dumb as I could. @ramfan05 weren't you asking how to tell? Someone else was, I can't remember if it was you or not.

I may sound a bit earthy, but there is a difference in the smell actually. A dr told me to smell their ear every day (there isn't really a scent) but on the day there is an infection you will be able to smell the difference because its not the normal scent. Strange, but true.

@iwubrory it could be a corn allergy. I've heard it's common to be allergic to dairy and corn together...I myself am allergic to both. I think it's something to do with the fact that they both aren't easy to digest foods?
So I'm trying to import my photos from my iPad to my MacBook but it's saying my USB port is drawing too much power so it's disabled? Anyone know why it's saying this and how to import photos from an iPad?
Thanks @rachaelmary Looking back I *think* DH and I had corn on the cob several times around when we started solids for DD. My pedi, GI, and I all thought it must be the solids that got to her, maybe not. Funny enough, the dairy and soy free bread I bought last week had a blue corn crust. Fingers crossed that's it. At least corn is easy to cut out.
So you aren't able to eat any dairy? I'm really hoping she grows out of it.

No I can't eat any dairy...but I wasn't always allergic. It started when I was probably 12 (well that's when I noticed), but I didn't clue in that it was an allergy making me sick until 7 years ago.
It sounds like it could be a corn allergy If you've eaten that a lot! Maybe she's not allergic to dairy and it's just the corn?
Today is laundry day. And we have LO's 6 month check up today (even though he is 7 months). Which means we are getting shots. T&Ps please.
We are also having our carpets cleaned next week, our bathroom redone, and our entire complex is getting the asphalt redone and painted. This means I have to clean (purge) like crazy, and somehow get my stupid non-working vehicle out of our parking spot and into the church parking lot next door. Someone has to push it, I guess....

Wow, that's interesting.
It would be great if she wasn't allergic to dairy but I'm pretty dang sure she is. She started showing symptoms at two weeks, I hadn't eaten corn, and she got better once I cut out all dairy. She had been fine until a month or so ago when symptoms starting popping up again with no clear reason why.

Ahh okay. Well then my guess is corn! It actually is in a lot of things (corn syrup and such) so if you are going to try cutting it out, make sure to read all ingredients! I can eat things with corn syrup as an ingredient, so once you know if it is corn or not for your lo, then you can try those things again and see if they bother her too.
hugs @iwubrory. I hope you can figure it out soon. I think your corn suspicion makes sense - is there any way you can get her officially tested? (I know nothing about baby food allergies so I'm sorry if that's a dumb question.)

@Codypup I'm glad W is okay. Sorry she missed her pictures, but I would have done the same thing. Nothing wrong with getting reassurance.
$hellMoney was in my room last night. There's mysterious glitter everywhere on the floor. It obviously couldn't have been my 3yo. #logic
