Finger foods

Has your LO started eating finger foods?

Re: Finger foods

  • We mash up some foods for her, but we mostly let DD feed herself. She's had cooked carrots, pear slices, cucumbers, cheese, cooked broccoli, cantelope, watermelon, cooked zucchini, and probably others.

We just cut things up into wedges (like the size of an apple slice) or appropriate sized pieces.

Haven't done any of the "baby food" finger foods like puffs though.

  • LO only gets yogurt by spoon, everything else he feeds himself.
    Everything is a finger food.

She doesn't eat much of those things. We just let her gnaw on them (like if she's not hungry when we're having dinner) and she'll suck on them. I figure it would feel good on her gums, since we're currently cutting teeth. She's gotten little pieces off of them but nothing that she'd choke on (she breaks off bigger pieces on softer things that she's more likely to gag on- carrots, pears).

The cantelope is always really ripe when I give it to her too and pretty soft. She has no problem with it.

Btw- DD is 8 months old so she can handle table food decently. I know she's older for this board. At 6 months, that was a completely different story.
