Dog people!

I know some of y'all are pretty crafty, so I'm hoping someone has a solution for me!!

We have an open kitchen/living room and it's where we spend the majority of our time. We keep our dogs food/water in the kitchen. All of a sudden LO is super interested in the food, and just wants to eat it and throw it across the kitchen and play in the water bowl. The dog is kind of a grazer, he doesn't scarf down his food right away when we feed him and kind of picks on it throughout the day so we have to leave it down for him. We don't really have anywhere else we can put it because our bedroom has a large area rug that we don't want ruined as does the guest room (messy drinker and we put oil in his food for his eczema). I feel bad because I keep putting his food up on the counter because I literally have to move LO away from it 1,000 times a day. Any suggestions? Products? Or just wait it out?

We have exactly the same problem. But we moved the water and food into the laundry room next to the kitchen where we can fit a baby gate. And we only put the gate up for a couple hours a day. He still gets all of his food (at least what he'll eat) and Kahlan can't get to it. Although when we leave the gate down we just chase her in there all the time.

We have a similar problem but with cat food. L is obsessed with it. Luckily it's on mat near our microwave cart. When L is on the loose I shove it under the cart. But the poor cats swish under to get at it when I forget to pull it back out.

My mom told me to put it outside on the covered porch, but it's going to be getting cold soon and I feel bad about making him stand in the cold to eat. He goes in and out all day really (doggy doors) so I don't think it would really bother him, but it would bother me lol. I'm also toying with the idea of putting it in the basement for now. It's finished and DH's office is down there where he spends most of the day so it wouldn't be too bad... I don't know lol. I just thought there was some other simple solution I wasn't thinking of.

I'm not having this issue yet. I think when that time comes I'll do what you're doing. Maybe your pup can be trained to eat his food in one sitting. I know we had to get ours used to it.

My dogs eat their food within seconds of it being put down, but my kiddo LOVES playing in the water bowl. I normally just wind up trying to stand between him and the bowls when we're in the kitchen. If doggy is tall, maybe one of those dog food stands that elevates the bowls off of the ground might keep it out of sight, out of mind for LO?

We put it on the counter for a while but would leave it down when we were gone or LO was distracted or eating himself. Now we have a baby gate trapping him in the living room so he can't get to the kitchen.

LO likes to go for the dog's bowls too. We have it in a corner of the kitchen, behind our table. I lay down one of the chairs in front of it, in the route that he usually takes to get to the bowls. He could still get there by climbing under the table, but he hasn't figured that out yet...

Haha unfortunately LO had mastered climbing through the chairs. He's a Houdini.

We don't have this issue, because my dog hoovers his food and water within seconds of us giving it to him, but is it possible to offer your puppy his food throughout the day at the same time your LO is eating so he is contained in a high chair or bumbo?
