How often do you eat sweets? Poll

I'm curious to know how often you all have sweets during the day (not including healthy sugar like fruit). I usually have some type of dessert everyday, like cookies, ice cream or candy bars. I was eating my bowl of ice cream today and started wondering if it was bad that I eat something sweet everyday. (This is my first poll, hopefully I did it right)!

I actually was just thinking about this, how I'm surprised at myself for not eating more. For some reason I thought I would crave more? But I'm still on my normal few times a week thing. We never have dessert in the house, so it's usually a one-off thing I bake or a particular day that has me realllllly cranky at work and I go buy candy. But on a regular basis there is nothing sweet in our house.

  • I am a rarely eats sweets person right now which shocks the hell out of me because pre pregnancy, I could eat sweets all day every day.  The babies just don't like sweets, anytime I eat them I get sick shortly after.

  • I need an option for more than once per day. Then again, I've gained a little too much weight so far, so I'm not the best example. ;-)

  • Some weeks, I eat sweets every day, some weeks it's just a few times.  So of course, to make myself feel a little better about it, I said a few times a week on the poll.  Now, however, I have thought about the amazing peanut butter cake at a local restaurant and I MUST have some.  I make my own at home, but it's not the same.  I NEED theirs.  And I had a greasy burger and fries today from 5 Guys....this is not good...   FWIW, I haven't eaten 5 Guys in years, and there's one right across the street from my office, so my restraint thus far through PG has been good.

  • I think you are either a "sweets" or "savoury" type person. I'd rather have a handful of salty chips than a dessert.

  • I don't have sweets everyday. But a few times a week most weeks. I had a super craving for sweet-tarts for like three weeks, then had a craving for nerds...but at most I have a few at a time. I'm not one for tolerating large quantities of sugar at one time, makes me sick. I did pick up some gummy bears and jelly belly beans from the candy shop in the mall. I have had a couple out of the bag, but they are sitting on my nightstand untouched for a few days now.  I told my DH that he may have to eat them before they go funny.  Of course with two other children they are always willing to finish off any candy I have left over.

  • Yeah... I've been baking like crazy... But my PG ADD cravings make me want exactly 2 cupcakes or 3 cookies from a batch so I send the rest with FI to work to get rid of then I make something else.... Everyone around me is going to gain sympathy weight. I made like 30 peanut butter rice crispy chocolate covered balls yesterday (think buckeyes with rice crispies)... It's a problem.

    Jealous of your FI. Seriously!

  • I haven't been as terrible as I thought I would be pregnant, but I definitely haven't been restricting myself. I made pumpkin chocolate chip cookies twice and devoured them each time. I craved brownies with ice cream too and made those.... but overall, I don't think indulging every now and then is a bad thing. It helps even out all the other bad symptoms of pregnancy! :)

  • Every day. I normally don't even have a sweet tooth and will pass up dessert all the time, but it's been daily while pregnant. I have "lunch dessert" and "dinner dessert" and candy in between.
  • DH thought I was crazy for going to the store yesterday because I NEEDED sour gummy worms and cool whip for the pumpkin pie I had just baked and I needed sprinkles for the gingerbread cookies I made while the pie was baking. It's like this every few days.

  • @lizzybean She just learned the sign for "more."  Yesterday I gave her a few bites of icecream after we got back from the park and after we finished it she followed me around for 5 minutes signing "more" over and over and over.  I wish I had gotten a video!

  • Sunday night I had vanilla ice cream with peanut butter sauce for dinner, Tuesday's dinner was half of a coconut custard pie & a quart of milk......I seriously can't stop myself!!
  • Since I've become pregnant my sweet tooth has disappeared.
  • Since I had to go gluten-free due to celiac disease a few years ago, I rarely eat sweets anymore. The gluten free ones are expensive, and alternate flours for baking aren't cheap either. It's a big treat nowadays for me. I thought I would be worse pregnant, but my SO is hitting the ice cream WAY worse than I am!

This thread really does make me want sweets though...

    :-<
  • I haven't craved "sweets" just tons of fruit and savoury stuff:)
  • I've felt guilty at the end of the day a few times thinking that I've had way too many sweets. I'm trying to be better but defiantly craving sweets more than anything else!
  • I have a can of soda daily for the caffeine to keep my headaches under control. Other than that, I don't eat too many sweets.

  • About a month ago I made the "mistake" of buying a Costco bag of candy "for Halloween". My husband saw right through it but said nothing. I opened it the next day. Those kids that come to the door are getting all my rejected candy (if there is any by that point!)...
  • I have been eating sweets like crazy. And now this poll made me want jelly beans. Off to the store I go

  • I eat sweets every day, definitely! Pre-pregnancy I used to eat my dessert at night after DD went to bed, but this pregnancy hasn't agreed with that arrangement. So now I usually eat dessert sometime after lunch. I definitely try to eat sweets in moderation but I have no guilt eating it!

Tbh I am not a sweets fan. Chocolate, pop, cake ect all make me feel sick even not pregnant. I am a spicy food addict though... I could easily polish off a basket of hot wings with every meal!
  • All the time even for breakfast
  • Daily now that im pregnant. When not pregnant its usually a few days a week.
