December 2014 Moms

anyone had cramps?

I'm 31 weeks and woke up with terrible cramps(like menstrual) yesterday.  They pretty much lasted all day, until I went to bed (at 9:30 because, let's face it, I get tired carrying around this pineapple all day).  I called the dr in the morning and she said it could either be Braxton Hicks, but the cramps were subsiding at all, or dehydration.  I drank a ton of water yesterday, but it didn't go away.

I feel better today, but I'm still curious what was going on.

Have you cramps?

  • Were they in steady intervals?

Did they subside if you laid down on your left side?

Call your OB for a follow up and see if he recommends an NST.

  • We are not doctors. Cramping is one of those things best answered by a doctor.

    Test
  • I have, but only when I need to poop and they definitely dont last all day.
  • If it were me I would have called again later that day when things didn't change.  I would call and get an appointment today.

I guess I'm a bit surprised your doctor didn't give you more instructions.  When I called in about contractions they said if x, y or z happens to go straight to L&D.

  • If they didn't subside, call you dr again. That needs to be checked out.

  • That is odd to me. That conversation with my doctor would have 100% no doubt have ended with me in the office for a checkup.

  • I get cramps like that and the next day I usually end up having gas/tummy issues. I've had kids before so I'm pretty sure of the difference but if you are concerned, call your Dr again! Better to be safe than sorry.
  • I'm going to agree with everyone.  Cramps, especially ones that last all day, are nothing to mess around with.  I'd likely be insisting that I want to be seen.

  • I had menstrual type cramps and saw my doctor. She gave me very specific instructions about when it happens, when to go to the doc, when to go to the hospital, etc. Don't let symptoms like that go on for so long w/o contacting your doc.

  • UPDATE-cramps went away the next day!  I agree with all of you-go into the doc's office if cramps continue...luckily mine didn't.

Glad they went away. For future reference we would rather see you go to your doctor or L&D before you post asking if there is cause for concern.

  • Cramps I have right now.

Mine are usually from dehydration or the baby growing. If they ever get worse from what I have now or twinge in regular intervals, I'd be heading in to L&D.
