  • I don't like baby leggings.
+1 Doesn't the part of the leg between the legging and the onesie get cold?
My MIL bought a pair, and I tried them, and W looked so silly. She has short legs but chunky thighs, so they were all bunched up and the tops were cutting off her circulation.

Just no. For us, at least.

  • I've probably whined about this before: I don't like Keurigs. I think they are wasteful gadgets that will fill our landfills with plastic junk from the machines themselves and all the K-Cups, which can't be recycled. And on top of all that, the coffee never tastes very good to me.

My ILs are on their second Keurig in 5 years. My 7-year-old drip coffeemaker is still going strong...

Give me my Cuisinart grind n brew any day! When I drink K Coffee at my parents' house, I always think it's weird.

  • OH! I have another one:

I dislike Thanksgiving. Like, we could totally get rid of that holiday and I wouldn't even care or really even notice.

I think the use of the following,

Is getting mighty old. It seems like some people use it every time they post. Makes it no longer fun, For me anyway.

Eta: yes, the giant space like before the person's punchline but now lots of posts have it. I'm old. Crotchety. Get. Off. My. Lawn.

You mean the giant space?  Like "I hate nonsense"  ----big space--- j/k I love nonsense.

  • @codypup Thanksgiving is the best day!! We have tons of traditions wrapped around that holiday though, and it makes me feel all warm inside to continue the traditions my mom/grandma started many years ago.

Plus, all things Pinterest. We get crazy on Pinterest Thanksgiving crafts. :D
  • @Codypup‌ what does your chef husband think about thanksgiving?

  • @iwubrory‌ Where are you seeing that so much that it's making posting not fun? Don't let people take your fun.

I still enjoy posting but it makes the use of that not fun. I see it a lot in ramdoms. Upon thinking about it more, I realize it's pretty much just one or two people overusing it.

  • @Codypup‌ what does your chef husband think about thanksgiving?

@shellbell3845, Mr. Pup, aka I-think-I'm-Italian, isn't a fan of traditional thanksgiving foods. Our first thanksgiving together I had to beg him not to cook FISH as our dinner.

So, I like Thanksgiving food, and I like that the holiday means I'm finally allowed to go buy a Christmas tree. But otherwise it's boring.

Now I'm so paranoid that I went over to randoms to see if I did it.
Haha, @shellbell3845 it's clearly a UO if you haven't noticed the overuse. I'm not against using it now and then.

  • You can get K cup things that you fill with your own coffee. One cup at a time, and less waste. I think this would work?

I used to think siggy challenges were dumb. Except I really enjoy looking for them, and seeing everyone else's. Although it occasionally makes it weird if you're offering condolences or something, nod you have a farting giraffe siggy
I think this is a great idea in theory, but I've never known anyone who actually does it.
Still on the first page, but we do this over here! Not always, but we do do it!

@ChiaWombat‌ once sent me cookies when I was having a very-bad, no-good week. They had chocolate chips *and* potato chips in them! \:D/

@ChiaWombat‌ we're going to need the recipe for these cookies.

They were from this fanc-eh bakery in NYC, but I found a recipe online:

Hm. Compost cookies. I'm going to have to think awhile on that name.

  • I thought of one: I'm not really a big fan of breast cancer awareness month. Let me explain. I think it's an awful disease and I've had friends that have had it and I've even participate in walks for it. I think my issue is that I wish other organizations got as much attention. For example, my mom has multiple sclerosis, but I don't really see a lot about that anywhere.

But what if your mom had breast cancer? You obviously would feel differently about it then. I don't know why this rubs me the wrong way, but it does.

I personally have a cousin with MS, and a very long line of breast cancer issues on both sides of my family, so I can relate to seeing how awful MS is. But it's just not fair to say that you don't like how much attention breast cancer gets because not all of the other diseases do. Breast cancer is very common and it affects (effects?) Sooooo many people. I think it deserves and needs the attention it gets.

I really don't want to start any kind of argument and I'm not eloquently spoken, so I hope someone else can chime in and say the words I'm failing to say.

@Madisonpenny‌ ((hugs)) I'm so sorry to hear about that. How is your mom doing?

My DH's grandma just had a double mastectomy for her breast cancer, and my grandma had the same thing a few years ago. DH'S grandma still isn't even healed all the way, that's how recent it was.

It's such a real, scary thing that hits home to so many of us. I think that's why I'm baffled @Jessasaurus2008‌ Was even able to make the statement she did.

I'm totally failing at words, and I'm shaking with anger.

  • I'm not 'against' October and Breast Cancer Awareness. However, I think there has been a LOT of 'awareness' for this particular thing. I don't know anyone who would see something pink in October and not immediately think 'oh, that's for breast cancer awareness' whether it is or not.

October is also National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. One in four pregnancies end in loss. By those numbers, you'd think it would affect more than even breast cancer. And yet, not many people equate October and PAIL.

Awareness of anything is always good-don't get me wrong. I think a lot of good things are being done with the pink campaigns. (One of our local hospitals hosts a Pink Up event every October-we actually had a big Pink Up decal put on our water tower yesterday). I just think that 'awareness' needs to spread to other things, and not just breast cancer in October.

  • And IMO awareness should last more than 30 days. Like starting Nov 1 we don't think about breast cancer anymore? And don't think about childhood cancer -- that was September!

  • @Madisonpenny I don't read the SAHM thread so I had no idea.. Big (((((((hugs)))))))))

One of the biggest challenges to charitable fundraising is raising awareness of the issue (in this case breast cancer) and to the human need (everyone has a mother, or sister, or daughter etc). I know many charitable causes now model their campaigns after BC because of its success. I don't see a problem here with BC awareness in theory-- yes, Pink washing is disgusting and morally wrong.

The problem is there will always be more needs than funds available. This leaves each organization operating on a limited budget to get your attention in hopes you will donate to their cause instead of another. TBH I can't say that Breast Cancer is more important than Prostate or Brain Cancer or Autism or Down Syndrome.. Each cause deserves its own spot light and its own cheerleaders driving the awareness.

  • I don't know if it's unpopular or not, maybe just uninformed, but spinning off from randoms...

Who cares is a marriage is a contract marriage or not?  Aside from possibly being done to scam money from the gov't, if both parties are consenting and understand what they are and are not getting out of the arrangement, who the F cares if they aren't really in love?

I'm not talking about third-party arranged marriages where one or both of the parties have no say in choosing the partner, but things like the young hottie and the old man and "couples" who just got together because it makes life simpler (someone to sign for packages/watch houses/help with chores etc)?
