Good appointment today with a beautiful heartbeat! I can't wait until the u/s at the end of the month! So happy to hear about all the other good appointments.
My random is that I have signed up for a week free of Hulu plus simply so I could watch the entire series of The Mindy Project, which means some 50 plus episodes in 7 days. Quite a challenge!
I just ordered my new iPhone 6 plus and I didn't have to put any money down except the taxes because I'm trading in my 5c that's in perfect condition. Anyone have this yet? How do you like it?
I have the 6 and it's giant. That's about the difference between it and my 5. The 6+ must be, like, tablet sized with how big the 6 is.
After two hours of friggen waiting, baby is doing well, heartbeat of 150. My MW does grape juice for the glucose test, so yay!!! Have to keep an eye on my platelets, if they get too low I can't deliver at the birth center.
@frecklesinside, that child was extremely frightening. @babys2014, I seriously am in love with the ghost sluts. I think that is the funniest thing.
My aunt gave us a halloween costume she made her daughter when she was a toddler. She's now a senior in high school, so I think it'll be really sweet. She'll be raggety anne for halloween This morning has been hilariously awful. I dropped my daughter off and realized I forgot my shawl at home and had to run back to get it because I can't wear a spaghetti strap dress at work all day. Then I knocked my eye into the corner of my car. Sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself.
@massiejs09 You or your husband could always read the Hobbit out loud. Baby would get to hear your voices and the book. I loved the Hobbit as a kid, it was always one of my favorites to read. My H loved it too, our son's middle name is Thorin.
@cinderella105 I'm sorry you are having such a rough week. I hope it gets better for you soon.
My FIL made a short notice overnight visit yesterday. He was driving back to VA after an elk hunt in UT. I really don't mind as my FIL is awesome and we don't get to see him often enough, also he filled a shelf of my freezer with elk meat, yum!
I kept dreaming about work last night. I am so tired.
OMG, that is the WORST!!!! I had a dream I was at work trying to find a place to lay down and sleep but every time I thought I found a secluded spot someone would find me and ask me to do something for them. I woke up feeling even more tired than I did before I went to bed. I wish there was a way we could filter our dreams so nothing work related is allowed to enter our minds.
heh I had a dream that for some reason DH and I accepted security jobs in Iraq and when we got there there were others helping but those people kept dying or fleeing....over time people would join us but bring their kids and it was my job to corral the kids in the basement but every time security got low I had to come up and actually shoot people.
I hate guns and I don't play first person shooters but I did kill some folks with headshots...and copious amounts of ammo wastage.
Then I had another xmen related dream but we watched Days of Future Past last night and had a debate while going to bed as to why the Avengers 3 plot line can't be the civil war with an Xmen crossover because in a universe/timeline wherein the possibility of total annihilation by morphing sentinels existed, Hulk and Thor could not have been present.
Woah, your dreams are epic!! Mine aren't *all* mundane. In fact, I had one a few years ago that I thought about writing a dystopian novel about but of course I don't have the time to sit down and write. But still, check out this plot:
In my dream, the government instituted a population control program through a monthly race. You sign up for the race, and the last 3 people to cross the finish line die via public execution in an electrified swimming pool. My parents signed up for the race and I was freaking out. Happily they didn't die, but I did have to watch a good friend of mine get shoved in the pool and die from electric shock. It was pretty terrifying, but I think it would be an awesome premise for a Hunger Games type of book! Hopefully someone out there more creative than me with lots of time on her hands reads this and makes my dream into a blockbuster novel because I would read that shit.
Guys, I'm pretty sure that the noobs are resurrecting old threads, because we've been telling the trolls and other pesky noobs that they need to search before posting. It's really confusing to hear so many contradictions. Heck, I'm confused, sometimes, about whether to resurrect a thread or just start a new one (I now go by 3 pages, I'll bump.it, otherwise start a new one, but not even sure that's right?).
I am very grumpy today I am not yelling at anyone or anything just want to be left alone... I am tired of working feels like that is all I do work , take the kids to their activities, make supper, bath bed, I am suffocating! I need well I don't know what I need!
I have my first ultrasound in 6 days to excited!!! See the little guy or girl! Everyone keeps asking me you have one of each what do you want now? When I say happy and healthy, no one believes me! It's itritating!
I think I have been pushing my self to hard at work! I could barely get out of bed this morning!
This thread is LONG, already, so congrats to all ladies that had good appointments today! And good luck to any with upcoming appointments.
Was trying to decide on lunch and the taco bell 7 - layer burrito now sounds amazing!
I like the idea of book on tape for the baby, but the idea of reading to him/her also feels really special. I'm starting with the Brothers Grimm fairy tales. (Love half price books!
So I'm a nerd and took out a tape measure this morning to see how big 5.5in actually is. Wow this baby is WAY bigger than I had in my mind (apparently my measuring ability hasn't caught up or something)! Does anyone know, when they give the size, is that for the beginning or end of the week they're referring to? Also, it indicates head to rump, for size estimates on these sites (like the bump) so that doesn't even include legs?
My brother FINALLY moved out yesterday, so I've begun cleaning the nursery. We've been storing everything we bought so far in our room and I moved all his tiny little clothes into his closet and just had a moment. This is my sons closet, these are his things. This whole room is his. When we moved in we knew one day that room would be for a baby but now we know it's a boy and his name and he's on his way and it's just so surreal. I still can't process it fully. The overwhelming love I can feel for someone I haven't even met yet is so crazy to me. :x
@chilibeansm0m Taco Bell sounds amazing today! I have to pick DD1 up early from school today so I think a stop might be necessary!
Don't have much of a random today. My allergies are driving me nuts and I will be making my 3d/4d u/s appt today. OB wants results before my next appt on Oct 27 so I will know before then if my instincts are correct!
Why is your ob having you get a 3d/4d? Is this for your anatomy scan or an elective? I have my anatomy scan in exactly anatomy week and I'm just SO excited to see the bub again!!
Edit: @janda426 I'm so happy you were able to finally get your house back! I thought he was moving out a bit ago? So hopefully everything ended well? And yay to that feeling too! I haven't quite reached that point, but I've had lots of moments of love for this unborn little one.
I just got a call from my ultrasound place and they can fit me in today at 530 instead of Friday so I'm super excited to see the little fetus again and hopefully he or she will expose the sex organs

This is probably better suited for the FWP thread. But on the bus to school every morning, I'm always the first person someone decides to sit next to when it starts filling up. Normally, I don't care when this happens, but the last thing I want in this state is to be squished up against my huge backpack and purse.
It doesn't help my attitude that more than half the people sit on the outside or put their shit on the seat next to them so that no one can sit there (Ooooh pet peeve!). So instead the pregnant lady and all her shit gets smooshed.
Does anyone drive a Chrysler Town and Country? Do you like it? My step-FIL's parents are getting up in years and they have a 2003 Chrysler that they no longer use. It's fully loaded, only 60,000 miles, even has a TV in the back. We have been talking for a long time about how we could really use a van as we continue to grow our family. The family car right now is a 2002 CRV and it's been great with just DD, but once the new baby comes, it will just be stuffed with car seats in the back.
They want to give us this car, which is amazing, and we will have it as early as next week. I just don't know much about it really and I've never driven a van. The trade off is that we are going to be giving the CRV to my BIL and SIL who don't have children yet and could really use a decent SUV as they live in a place with a lot of snow and hills.
No experience with vans but that whole switch-a-roo sounds amazing for everyone!! Happy for you!!
Anyone want to help me edit a blog post? I was asked to guest post on a blog for my (formerly) local family center. (spinnoff from closed birth center. Has prenatal massage, birth classes, parenting classes, mom groups, breast feeding groups, etc) I was asked to write a post about October being pregnancy and infant loss awareness month.
I just finished a rough, rough draft, and I'm super nervous. So I need someone who will be gentle! I planning on looking at it more tonight (wrote it on my phone so far) but I would love someone to look at it tomorrow if anyone is interested!
@katydid2014 sorry you're sick! And for your dog rolling in something. Mine did that the other day and he can hear, he just completely ignored me. Jerk.
Guise I'm on a plane about to go see my BFF and her twins!! She had them 10 wks ago and I'm just now able to go help. And she has 2 other girls as well. Yes, all girls! 4 girls!! Anyways I'm so excited!! Haven't seen her since my wedding 1.5 years ago!!
Glad for all the great appts today!
@etoille sorry for the protein already but hoping it doesn't turn into pre-e.
Ha here's a random. I put on a pair of maternity jeans for first time and then left to go to the airport. They don't stay up!! Belly not big enough yet I guess. Very attractive how I'm constantly pulling on them. I need suspenders for my mat pants y'all!!
ETA forgot to mention @janda426 your post gave me goosebumps!!! All the feels for you girl!! (Not in a creepy way). But this was so sweet. I had a moment similar to that when cleaning our nursery too. We don't have anything yet though other than a few onesies but I held them up and thought wow a baby will be wearing these soon!!
@DragonflyDreaming what ended up happening was my mom found a place and the lease didn't start til today so we decided we were okay with a few more weeks since there was a DEFINITELY a lease signed an end date in sight. So it's a win win for everyone now
Random/bitch: everyone always raves about uppa baby's customer service but I placed my order over a week ago and they took the money out of our account the next day. Every time I check the status of the order it says processing payment and when I call some automated thing tells me they're having trouble processing my payment and will email me when it ships out. Uh, they have my fucking money, what exactly is the problem?
Best part is when I call "uppa baby" I'm speaking with some foreign lady who has to call some other company to find out what is going on with my order. Wtf is the point of having a separate number for online orders then? Ugh
I asked my H what he wanted for dinner tonight and he told me spaghetti. I'm like really? He told me he loves my spaghetti, because it's different every time (it is, depends on my mood). In over six years of marriage and 14 years together I never knew this. I think he's having a pregnancy craving or something. It was so weird. Guess that's what we're having.
Since I've been pregnant I've had such a love for spaghetti which I never much cared for so I seriously wish I was your h right now;)
I couldn't sleep last night thinking about how we have prenatal, postnatal, and neonatal which I understand all the prefixes for so I ask do we have a just plain natal time? If so when does it start and stop? I probably shouldn't have gone to sleep cause I had a gross dream I was remarried and having sexy time with my exhusband and even in the dream I was asking myself if I'd be a total bitch if I asked for another divorce lol. Good luck to everyone with appointments today
I read the whole thread and no one responded to this, so I'll do it. The medical definition of natal is "of or relating to birth." So I'd guess that the onset of labor through delivery is natal time.
@MrsLaurenandDan, I'll take a look at it if someone more qualified doesn't speak up! I have zero qualifications except I'm an impeccable speller and love to read things!
@janda426, your moment gave me a moment! It's such a wonderful experience, and I like you, can't wait to love and squeeze my little people!
Speaking of the "ways to have my baby early thread," I learned today that our new insurance plans will go into effect on March 1st, my due date. The change in insurance is going to mean a big bump in my out of pocket costs, so there is part of me hoping kiddo arrives a few days to a week early so I can avoid a much larger hospital bill. However, I'd never do anything to actually make that happen, because no.

----- darn quote box----
That's perinatal (sorry, not meaning to sound like I'm correcting). -natal is just one of those suffixes that is added on to refer to birth. Medical vocabulary is too ridiculously complicated. I remember thinking the same thing about the term "menopausal." The actual term menopause refers to the last period. You can be perimenopausal, premenopausal, or postmenopausal, but you cannot be menopausal.
Edit: mobile is being stupid and cutting off my words.

Thanks for the clarification! I was totally taking a guess (as I indicated), so it's really good to know the real answer.
Eating my first decent meal in a few days (darn cold). Gyro and sides with pita and hummus. I just ran out of pita, so I'm totally going to eat the rest of my hummus with my fingers. No shame.

My insurance changes on March 15th and I'm due the 16th. I know exactly how you feel.
I don't have FB so I had to sure this here. My youngest and her puppy having their daily am snuggles while I get ready for the day
@Carmar3 I love this photo. Made me cry at work though. We had to put our dog down this summer, and I still cry every time I think about her. My 3 yr old DD loved "her doggy" so much, and I miss seeing those snuggles :-(
Guys, I'm getting this sharp pain on my right hip bone. Directly on my hip. It is on my muffin top, does that make sense? It came on suddenly. I always wonder what rlp feels like, does this sound like it. It isn't crazy painful, I almost don't feel it sitting down but everytime I've been getting up to get something from the printer it's like oh yeah. Ouch!
Good luck to all the ladies with appointments today!
I had my 16 week appointment yesterday with my new doctor. I am so happy I switched! Now I am just counting the days till my 20 week appointment.
I looked through like 5 of the longest threads to see who has what for their sig challenge, I hope mine isn't a dupe. Someone please call me out if it is.

Sounds like RLP to me. I get it a lot when I go from sitting to standing quickly, and sometimes feel it at other random moments too
@etoille FX it doesn't progress into pre-e again!
@AGM0616 just this morning I got a free month of Hulu Plus on a McD's monopoly piece -- message me if you want it! We already have HP.
@janda426 YAYYYY! So glad your bro moved out & you can start putting together the nursery!!!
H & I went to BBB yesterday to check out strollers. We loved how sleek & simple - and light - the B Safe/B Agile combo is, so that's our stroller. Just waiting for a better sale on Amazon! (Saw it at $319 a few weeks ago...)

Sorry, but all of this is making me think of 10 Things I Hate About You, when Bianca's friend says, "I know you can be overwhelmed, and you can be underwhelmed, but can you ever just be whelmed?"
I'm just over here close to finishing an entire pizza and order of cheesy bread on my own...to be fair to myself, I started on it last night. I really need to get this food thing under control.
Oh well, back to my pizza. Cold pizza, might I add.
