Wednesday Randoms

Morning.

Good news: W slept in the bed all night, and woke up as usual, but nothing crazy. No fever at all this morning, which is awesome and totally not what I was expecting.

Bad news: She's still pulling at her ears and was up for the day at 5am. ~O)

I might end up calling the pedi to get her ears checked. I am so paranoid now that it's kind of ridiculous. Like I get panicky and sweaty and anxious at the thought of her being sick again, especially now that I'm alone.

How is everyone else? Anyone even awake yet?

  • @Codypup‌ it is Wed!

Glad W slept a little better, hope she doesn't have an ear infection!

I am having some supply issues (probably due to stress) anyone have any luck with fenugreek? How much did you take?

  • @codypup hope W isn't sick.

Has anyone withdrawn a baby from daycare?  Do they usually make you give a notice?

I haven't, but I would think it would depend on the circumstances. Everything okay? @djtippietoes

  • @Codypup I hope the ear pulling is due to teething!!
@MamaAllison‌ I take Fenugreek 1 pill 3X a day for maintenance and 2-3 pills 3X per day when I have a dip. My dips are due to AF coming.
@djtippietoes‌ My DC requires 2 weeks notice for withdrawal unless it's a special circumstance. I hope everything is ok.

I'm pumping and bumping and so behind this morning. DH had a man headache last night which rendered him useless. So I did not get all my prepping done last night. My hair is doing this weird thing and I think I'm just gonna go with it. I can't wait to see how Classy Mom acts at the bus stop this morning!

  • I'm just growing more and more frustrated with his daycare and their lack of communication.  It's a long story.  But a few weeks ago, they forgot to give him one of his bottles.  I just don't feel like he's getting the sort of care that I want for him.  They have a high ratio (1 to 6) that's not always followed, there's lots of turnover and there's little communication with parents.  I can't tell you how many times I've gone to pick him up and asked about his day and the teacher says, "I don't know - I just got here."  This particularly seems to happen when I ask why he's wearing different clothes.  I want to know if he got sick!  The report sheet is not filled out in full and I've mentioned it to the director a bunch of times and it's still not filled out. How hard is it to note how many ounces he ate at each feeding?

    Sorry, venting.
  • @djtippietoes‌ That sounds like a legitimate reason to pull him. Double check your contract with them...it should say how much notice is required. It's usually a couple weeks.

Sorry they're being crappy...hopefully you can find a great new place.
  • @magentawarped haha, i don't know why i didn't think to check the contract.  too early in the morning, i suppose.  yeah, it's 2 weeks.  I did find a new place.  It is a little more expensive, but I think it's worth it.  It's exactly what I want for him.
Your concerns would really bother me, too, especially because you've addressed them with the director and have seen zero improvement. I'm glad you found a new place that you love!

  • @djtippietoes‌ it sounds like you could make a complaint to the state licensing board too!

I'm in bed with a wide awake baby remembering when he used to sleep until 930 or 10.

You Guise! Closing was amazing last night. It was an old lady with her son. She is moving into the nursing home with her husband She was so excited it was a young couple with a baby. Her exact words " This house has always been filled with a lot of love, I'm so glad you will keep it that way!" Also ranted and raved about the neighbors being the most amazing people ever! That makes it completely worth everything.
This made me really, really happy to read. :-)

  • @dreamingbabies the incomplete reports are grounds to report them?  I know the ratio is, but it's not always not adhered to.  Just sometimes in the morning.
  • @djtippietoes IMO being out of ratio -- especially when the ratio is already 1 to 6 -- is grounds for being reported, even if it's just once in awhile in the morning. I'd go bananas if I walked into DC and the ratio was off, and I'm in a state where it's 1 to 4. And missing a feeding? I'd be making noise. I'm wondering if you can use this information to get out of there sooner than 2 weeks without losing any money.

  • @ciaomama no harm in applying!  I've gotten jobs before that required more experience than I had.
  • So here's an example of the ratio not being met.  As I drove in this morning, one of the teachers was outside, waiting for a school bus with an older child.  She basically walked in the door at the same time I did but she stopped to go to the bathroom and I went to the classrooom.  There were 7 children in there already.  A made 8.  One teacher.  The second teacher walked in a minute or two after I did, but still.

Yeah, this isn't acceptable for me. I understand someone has to be outside with the older child, but the fact that they go over ratio to accomplish this makes me think they're understaffed. There should be an aide/assistant/someone who can do these tasks without making rooms out of ratio. A state inspector can drop in at anytime, including during drop off. If they saw your room was out of ratio, it would be a violation for the center. The inspector doesn't care about the person outside waiting for the bus/going to the bathroom. Ratio is ratio. I would make noise if that happened. I don't do DC dropoff, but DH knows to take notice of things like this. I'm also not sure I could leave until the room was in ratio, though I know the reality is that work starts at X time and it's not always possible to linger.

I'm glad you've found a new DC. I hope I'm not beating a dead horse here. I just have lots of feels about DC.

  • @karlamo

I love that gif! But I feel the need to be honest and reiterate that she slept in MY bed, which I guess is sort of her bed, considering she hasn't slept in her crib in months. Our bed?

    Whatever dude, she slept.

Thank you all so much for the love! You've listened to all my whines and I appreciate it so very much!

LO new thing is to take a half hour to fall asleep for naps, including sitting up in the crib. Ohhhh little man.

The sitting/standing/crawling in the crib is driving me nuts. I think LO is ready for a nap, but I end up taking him out if the crib because he's just playing.

Good morning! LO was up at 4:30 so I'm able to get in some bumping before work! @Codypup‌ I hope W is ok! My LO rubs and pulls her ears a lot and so far no infections so hopefully it's just JBBB. @djtippietoes‌ sorry you're having daycare issues. I'm glad you found a new place and I hope it works out! Like others have said, I'd report them. @armfruit‌ Congrats on your new house! Warning: loss mentioned below- I found out this morning that my good friend had a miscarriage yesterday at 17 weeks. I'm not sure what I can do other than offer a shoulder to cry on. She'll be in the hospital until tomorrow and probably doesn't want visitors. Should I send a card to her house?
@anji1820 Offering a shoulder is a good start, but I would go beyond that. Offer to drop off a meal or two. Allow her to talk about her baby. At 17w she may very well have held and took pictures as memories or she may have chosen not to/not been able to. Don't push yourself on her though, since you have a LO. Does she have older children? You could volunteer to play with them for an hour to just let her have some peace. Definitely send your condolences.

  • DH made me late to work bc he was trying to teach me how to drive. :-bd I know what I'm doing! Then a moth flew in and I had to keep swatting at it. I found it laying in wait when I took the girls to school. It got the boot. #firstdaywithanewcarproblems

I was just popping on to say that a moth just flew into my face while I was driving. What is with the moths today?
  • @anji1820 You don't need to say anything more than "I'm so sorry". That really is the best thing to hear. Nothing you say is going to make her feel better.

Ditto everyone -  I'd tell the director your concerns, and that you've given them ample opportunities to address them but nothing has changed and you will no longer need their services.  I'd pick the date based on when the new DC can start him, and see if she addresses the 2 weeks notice issue.  If she does, I'd push to have it waived.

I'm sorry they aren't doing their job caring for LO, I would also consider reporting them. Being out of ratio is a serious issue with infants, what if something happened because there was only one teacher for 7, or 8 babies?  Even if it's only an hour or whatever in the morning, it's not right. Heck, I think 1:6 is crazy lol.

I'm 'on call' for jury duty today and tomorrow, so I'm working from home today. I've never actually been picked for a trial and even though it would screw up my work schedule, I think it would be interesting to be on a jury.
    Apply for the job!

I've served on a jury, it's actually weirdly both more interesting and more boring than I imagined. Lots of down time but the actual trial bits were interesting.

  • @anji1820 - the other ladies had great suggestions, sometimes a hug is better than any words/gifts. And your friend will be in my thoughts. I am so sorry for her loss.

  • That's so great @elf828‌! It was still frozen or cold or whatever it was supposed to be?

And what a cutie. I just wish we could see her pants so we could see her outfit for mismatch week.
