Cankles and pedicures

If I had my laptop I'd figure out how to do a clicky poll but I'm on the ipad and technologically challenged. So, if you're a pedicure lover and planning on pretty toes for delivery, how close to your due date are you going to do your toes (ha! Can anyone see their toes?)? Second, I've been super lucky to not have swollen ankles or feet. They kind of blew up tonight, though. That wouldn't be related to high BP, would it? I know it's a super common thing, just wondering why, all of a sudden. My BP has been low all pregnancy. It's not on my list of things to call about.

I'm getting a pedicure tomorrow and cannot wait.

I wouldn't worry about the swelling if your BP has been fine. I've been the opposite and had a couple of spikes but absolutely no swelling.

As @Nicb13‌ said, swelling is a pretty common pregnancy symptom and is really only a sign of pre-e when it's in combination with seeing spots, a severe headache, and/or pain along your upper ribs near your bra line.

  • Especially at night, I wouldn't get too concerned about swollen feet at this point. Mine haven't been bad either but by the end of the day sometimes they're like little blimps if I was out and about too much or sitting at my desk to long.

  • I'm thinking I'll do toes tomorrow. Maybe the foot massage will help the Cankles! @SPurp13‌ ....ooooh massage...did you find a place that has one of those pillow things that let's you lie face down? I haven't found anyplace that has that this pregnancy. I hope you get that! Can't wait to lie on my stomach...

  • I will have my pedi Thursday and hair next Thursday. I have pedi every two weeks either way so they can't be too bad, but right now I am having them use colors that I already have incase they chip:)

  • I like to get one every week if possible. I don't think she will be here on her due date this week, so I'll probably go get one on Saturday.

No, they just have the wedge and you lay on your back, then sides. At least that's how it was around 20 weeks when I went last.

  • I'm pretty gentle with my feet so pedicures well last me awhile. I had mine done about 3 wks before EDD. Also, my feet didn't begin to noticeably swell until 38 wks. Dr said as long as my BP is good and I don't have any other pre-e symptoms, then it's nothing to worry about (just to echo what pp have also said).

  • I plan to get one this week, probably Thursday (so at 37+3). I think I will wait and get another one at 39ish weeks, as well.

  • I painted my toes last week, and I'll probably do them again next week :) just to be ready.. with number one I painted them the night before my induction ;)
  • Not to thread hijack but while we are around the subject is anyone bothering to wax/shave before delivery or their cervical checks?
I have my first check next week...
  • I just had a pedicure today, mainly because I cannot reach there anymore and my feet were gross! They are very swollen too and look disgusting, it was kind of embarrassing rolling my pants up...

I tried to shave a couple weeks ago, it wasn't worth it. I will shave my legs before my csection though.

  • I'm getting one on Saturday at 38 weeks which should hold me over until after baby comes.   Did you eat a lot of salt today?  Sometimes that can make swelling worse - try propping your feet up and see if that helps...

  • @Nichole7041‌ I've been shaving my bikini line my entire pregnancy and legs once a week. It would drive me insane not to! If it will make you feel better do it.
  • I am getting my last pedi on Friday (39 weeks, 2 days).

Baby Girl "C" arrived on 10/07/14 (39 weeks, 6 days)

@lindzoid Ok thank you. It would make me feel better but I just can't see down there anymore haha

I shave every few days, regardless. However I am hoping to labor at home for a while and will most likely try to take a shower and shave before I head to the hospital. It just makes me feel better, personally, and I have a feeling it will be a few weeks before I am ready to bring the razor near my bikini line for a while!

  • DH painted my toes on Sunday and I had a baby on Friday.

The lady garden needs a good grooming. Saw it for the first time in months today and I was shocked! But I couldn't work up the give a damn to fix it tonight.

There was so much going on during l & d that I didn't care what it looked like
  • The lady garden lol

  • I just got a pedi today, at 38w4d. If baby doesn't come in a week, I might get another one. As far as swelling goes, it's pretty normal. I didn't swell at all with DS but I have been swelling this pregnancy since 36 weeks and a few days. Try to drink water, put your feet up and change positions. If you sit too long or stand too long that can make the swelling worse so just try to switch positions and know it's fine and normal, as long as your BP is measuring fine.

  • I get a pedicure every two weeks, the place I go to does a 20 minute foot/calf massage with the pedicure and it's amazing! Makes my swollen feet and legs feel SO much better.
  • I'm getting a pedi today because I don't want to try and trim my toenails by myself.  Too hard.  I have 3.5 weeks to go, so hopefully it lasts! If not DH will be painting my toes again, can't splurge like that all the time.
