  • One word sums up my pregnancy thus far: exhaustion.

This but it should say DD2 and "we" instead of "I."
@ckimberley14 I dunno how you do it with twin toddlers! I can barely keep up with DD1 most days...thank God for naps!

Honestly, there were some days during first tri when I wondered if I could make it through the day. I was so tired and hungry but nothing sounded good to me, plus making meals for the minions almost always made me want to puke because of my aversions. It was rough, but we mamas get through it somehow! :)

  • @Trin42 how do they diagnose pubic symphysis diastasis?

I am in so much pain. I can't move or go about common activity without searing pain. I can't even pick up my DS without extreme pain and pressure :( I'm wondering if pubic symphysis diastasis isn't something I should bring up to my MW.

@michelle142 I diagnosed myself last pregnancy but didn't mention anything to the OB as I knew it was a "common" pregnancy symptom. Well, this time it started so much earlier that at my 20 week appt I decided maybe I should mention it.  She agreed that it sounded like it. The only way to actually confirm it I believe is an ultrasound.

I think what really convinced her it was that vs something else was when I told her I couldn't adduct or abduct (medically talk for subtracting and adding your leg to your body - example: I can't use my foot to push in a kitchen cabinet drawer without pain whereas PP I could) my legs without having pain in my pubic area.

She said that if you've had it before, you are more prone to have it again and sooner but that at 20 weeks that was very soon and she advised I go for PT to minimize the pain I will be in later. She said that usually it will spike around 20 weeks and then subside for the rest of 2nd Tri and then come screaming back in 3rd Tri.

Thanks for that info! I'm going to bring it up to my MW I think.

  • @Trin42‌ - I had the same during my first pregnancy and I expect the same to show up this time so I feel your pain. It's quite painful. Last time I did physical therapy for a bit but the thing that really really helped was seeing a chiropractor. Just thought I'd suggest it if you're not getting the relief you need. She was able to greatly alleviate the pain, much more so than PT. Of course you know nothing fixes it until you have the baby but the chiropractor helped immensely for me.
  • I had a belt and it may have helped a bit I think. It actually helped me a lot after my c section! Lol I had gotten it from my PT but I'm sure you can buy them. Worth a try for sure!

I'm actually seeing the chiropractor already for sciatica and I told her I want to prevent this. So hopefully if I'm proactive it will help. The chiro is amazing. When I had PSD she didn't touch my back, just worked with my hips. I'm a total believer. I even take my 3 year old to see her to keep up his immune system!
