Disney Recommendations/Tips

We got our OFFICIAL dates for Make a Wish. When Reese was interviewed by her wish grantors, they asked her what she wishes for. She said: "I want to meet the lizard from Tangled, not Tangled just the lizard. And Mickey if he is there." They took that as Disney.

As long as she is healthy enough to go, we will be heading there December 7th to the 13th. We will have 3 day hopper passes to Disney, two day passes to Universal and a day to Sea World. (which is low on my priority).

Any tips? Recommendations? I seriously can't wait! And, I get to go to Harry Potter---I know Reese would love the Wand ceremony. (As would I!)

Re: Disney Recommendations/Tips

  • My strongest recommendation is don't try to plan every minute. Make a list of no more than three things that are super important and fire the rest just follow hEr lead. I don't know what make a wish will set up for you as far as fast passes etc look into that. I know the frozen meet and greet can be hours without afast pass.
Get the free video and have reese watch it, it might give her more ideas of what she wants so you can be ready.
Also review what each park has and decide which are worth it. You can't fit out all in so don't try our you will spend the whole time trying to reach some epic moment and in turn miss the experience.

  • With three days at Disney, I might do 2 days at Magic Kingdom and one day at whichever park you think she'd like second best.

Unless she really likes Disney Jr., I would skip Hollywood Studios since you don't have a ton of days.

I can't think of any other tips, but I'll keep thinking. I've heard Christmastime at Disney World is great. I'm so excited for you guys!!

  • From what I heard with Make a Wish, we won't have to wait on any lines with Reese. She will have special front of the line access to rides and characters. Since it isn't a school break, I am hoping that it won't be AS crowded.

They are hopper passes though, so we were definitely thinking of a full day at MK, 1/2 day at Epcot, 1/2 day at Magic Kingdom and a day at Hollywood Studios (she LOVES disney junior and Toy Story) Skipping Animal Kingdom.

Where we stay there are evening activities for her to participate in as well, so I am making sure that those evenings are free--at least the three activities I think she would like (Halloween Party, Christmas Party and Pirate and Princess Party)

Oh, that's awesome, I'm so excited for her!!

Will they book/pay for a character breakfast or dinner? We did the character breakfast at Animal Kingdom and really enjoyed it, but I see you're skipping AK. I like the idea of doing a character breakfast at Magic Kingdom and getting to go into the park before it opens!

When we were there last year, we did 1/2 day at AK, 1/2 day at Epcot, 1/2 day at HS, and a day and a half at MK. Technically just the day as we chose to take an afternoon off. I'm not a huge MK person so it was perfect to me. We only did Epcot because of Frozen. DH waited in line 3 hours while I took C around.
The only allure of Epcot for me is Living Seas with Nemo (Reese is a huge aquarium fan!) I think she would like Spaceship Earth too. DH wants to go to Germany in the world showcase. Apparently he thinks Reese needs a cuckoo clock, and she agrees with him. :) Actually I think he wants a beer stein.

  • I think your plan sounds pretty good. We went a few years ago when DS was almost 3 and we did 1.5 days MK, 1 day epcot, and 1 day HS and the ratio seemed pretty good. We are going again next month and DD will be almost 3 this time. I think you will be able to fit a lot in with being able to go to the front of the line.

We did the character meal at Hollywood and Vine and are doing it again this time(characters are there for breakfast and lunch). Its great for Disney Junior lovers. Right now it is Doc Mcstuffins, Sofia, Jake and Handy Manny at  the meal. Each of the characters comes around to the tables and will take pictures and sign autographs.

If Reese is into Frozen, there is a sing-along at Hollywood Studios. in addition to the Anna and Elsa meet and greet at Magic Kingdom.

  • My kid who is Reese's age loves Nemo but was not impressed with the ride. He did love the Nemo musical at AK. He loved dinner at Epcot and the Chinese acrobats and the Monsters Inc. playground. The fireworks are earlier there than at MK. We did MK during the day, rested than headed to Epcot in the evening and it was awesome.

  • The Toy Story ride at Hollywood Studios is so fun.  At Disney World you must get a Pineapple float at Aloha Isle.  YOU MUST GET IT!  It is delicious!  At Hollywood Studios they have actors come out in the street and do skits.  They aren't planned but are really funny and worth it to stop and watch if you catch one.

That's all I got so far.
  • The Character Breakfast at Hollywood and Vine at Hollywood studios is the BEST! So much better than all the others cuz it is small, intimate and fun! Also, it's the only one with the Disney Jr. characters. Also, we had sooooo much fun at Animal Kingdom (in general). Also great for littles

  • So happy for Reese, that is awesome! I would definitely take a stroller or rent one from an outside company (city mini is great for naps). I would also consider taking a carrier if you think there is any chance she would use it. My DD had no interest in a carrier outside of Disney, but you can't take strollers in the lines. Even if you aren't waiting in lines it can be a hike to get to the ride; I was glad when my DD begged to use her brothers carrier so I could stop carrying her.

Make reservations for sit down places now, you can cancel, but you don't want to be stuck without any options. Recommend Coral Reef if she likes the aquarium, and the character dining. Not sure if you are on property or doing the dining plan, but the food is pricey. You can bring in food and snacks though. I would bring swimsuits just in case. Pools are heated and we were able to go in even in Dec. Have fun!

  • That's so exciting!  If she loves Christmas lights, I HIGHLY recommend at least finishing a day  Hollywood Studios. They have several streets where the buildings are covered from top to bottom in Christmas lights. They coordinate the lights to music AND they make it snow!  ...Maybe the snow was more exciting for me since I grew up in the land of no snow lol.  It's a great way to end a day full of Christmas spirit =)
  • We went during that same week in 2012 and aside from the weekends the crowds were low. I'll give another rec for the Osborne Family Lights at Hollywood Studios. They are so pretty and they dance to music and it snows and it was just so much fun.
