How does everyone feel about cinnamon brooms? One of my IRL friends called them tacky, but I love them. They smell so gooooooood.
#cinnamonbrooms4lyfe
I like them. I always got the pine cones.

It has been suppose to rain here all weekend AND THERE IS NO DAMN RAIN YET
That's lame. I want rain. I miss all the rain.

DD and I just put on some applesauce with the apples we picked last week. The house smells pretty amazing. My applesauce is pretty much apple pie in a jar - I love all the spices!
Maybe later I will make apple pie filling. We picked 26 lbs of apples...
Woke up early to get stuff ready for DH's family to come over.... It's our turn to host the Eagles game today... Oh and going to Pilates beforehand bc I'm gonna be chugging Leinenkugel's new Cranberry Ginger Shandy all day!
I just getting ready to leave the house. I'm co-hosting a friend's baby shower. I've been cooking and doing other prep all morning. When I get home, I'll get back to the laundry and canning.

I just made and enjoyed some Pumpkin Patch pancakes for me and the kiddos. Now I'm going to enjoy some coffee. Friends of ours gave us a crap load of hand me downs for DD and I'm going to go through them and separate the sizes. We attempted to make Thanksgiving dinner reservations for Disneyland but their system is down. :-( Otherwise a fairly quiet day and getting ready for the new week.

I made apple butter the other day with apples from our orchard. OMG, it is life changing and so easy to make. It is just a lot of time in the Crock-Pot.
------- I did that last season. You're right - so easy and SO good!
@joy2611 I moved to upstate NY when I was 2, but my moms family was from Wallingford, PA (my sis is still there) and my dad is from Camden, NJ so we kept our Philly allegiance. DH's family is from Philly, his Dad used to live about 2 mins away from the Chickies and Pete's by the stadium! We make it back a few times a year.... I spent every summer in Wildwood too!!!
Oh, I understand your childhood well, @greysweatshirt! Both my parents and their whole families are from Philadelphia. My husband, incidentally, is from Upstate NY and we went college up there.
Eye to eye.
Small world! We've been out west for about 8 years and thought we'd never move back, but we are fiending for apple orchards, Wawa and all things autumn!
We are smoking ribs and roast on the pit, having lots of drinks, and playing outside with Gracie dog. DH has been working every day for the past 2 months and is finally off!!

I'm doing laundry, making chicken broth and shredded chicken for meals later in the week, and sorting through the boys' winter clothes so I know how many new clothes to buy. It's like a regular party around my house! :-P
However, yesterday we made cheese fondue for no reason and it was amazing.
(I can't get the extra @ to delete or the tag to work?? :-( )
@Joy2611 I'm completely jealous of your new tops. I'm too afraid to buy clothes online where I can't try them on or I'd totally buy that first one you posted.

@DarcyHermione big hugs (auto correct almost sent you bug hugs)
@Trickyjedi that's incredible! Yay for DH! What else is back there?
@wineandwalter I wish I could provide one. I peel and cut apples until they fill the pot - squeeze in a lemon for flavor and to keep them from browning, add about a half cup of water and 2 tbs sugar and then put in about 1 1/2 tsp vanilla, cinnamon (off the stick), nutmeg, allspice, a tiny bit of mace, and some molasses. Mix and cover. Stir every 5 or so minutes and adjust flavors as needed
We just got back from church and running errands. Afternoon plans consist of laundry, snuggles, and naps.
Our neighbors invited us over for a fire last night. The bugs were horrible so we just cane back to our house. The guys bonded and us ladies got wastey pants. Ain't no hangover like a red wine hangover, cuz a red wine hangover don't stop.

Gahhh, wine hangovers are the worst. My FIL brought out a bottle of red wine last night, but I was already 3 vodka crans deep, so I declined. Vodka+wine= :-&

___________ Going to the post office is one of my least favorite errands to run, and I have a bad habit of not bothering to return stuff I order online that doesn't work out. I'm just like, "eh, I'll gift this to someone later." Basically I'm not responsible enough to order stuff like that online. :-P

In our house it's Bears v. Packers, Cardinals v. Diamondbacks. Then CAH with my brother and SIL. It's going to be a good day just as long as the Cardinals can clench the NL Central Division.
Had brunch (AKA slept late enough that breakfast was too late to also have lunch.) Brewed mead (secret recipe, DH says the house smells like fall. It currently tastes like caramelly mulled cider.) Now comforting son. Will shortly clean kitchen then make fish tacos for dinner. Will clean rest of house/do laundry as time allows.

@DarcyHermione Sorry you're having a rough day. Hope today cheers you up.
We went apple picking yesterday, so I'll also be making some apple dishes. We had sautéed apples with pumpkin pancakes for breakfast this am!
Happy first anniversary @wineandwalter!
+1 for cinnamon brooms and pine cones. Anything that makes my house smell delicious without any work on my part is a win.
I just made 3 separate trips to Target without ever leaving the parking lot. Maybe a list will help next time?
Heading to our church's Oktoberfest tonight - looking forward to the local craft beer tent. Yum.
