Sunday Randoms!

Re: Sunday Randoms!

  • DH just cleaned our bathroom, vaccuumed the house and is now doing laundry.  I'm on the couch, sniffling with this cold that won't go away.
Yay for DHs that take care of us when we're sick! Hope you start feeling better soon. When I'm sick and laid up in bed, the last thing DH does is anything productive around the house.. :-w He takes it as his cue to do nothing as well.

My belly is sore after waking up with contractions every time I needed to pee. I'm thinking I maybe have a craving for a ridiculous amount of pineapple... or doing jumping jacks.... or walking it out... ;)

At least DH is at the store getting doughnuts since we were both too lazy to get up in time to go to church.

    Mmmm doughnuts!!!

Feel better @MRSclarke08 but kudos to your husband for doing the housework!

@Spurp13  The stain not matching would drive me crazy as well and MH wouldn't even notice.  I get super obsessive about paint etc though and usually end up having to do those projects myself.  Or touching up afterwards
Well, as an update, the stain looks like it's much closer to matching now, but the grain of the wood is different. That's the issue.

    Oh well.

I want to go to Gucci's for there pizza buffet. But I have to get dressed. I know ALL the regulars and Sundays after church is packed with the same people. they all ways want to ask me stuff about LO. Plus my unk (uncle) will rub my belly and talk loud when I first get there. So there is no hiding. Man, just give me pizza and salad and let me be like normal guest.
  • Question: how many newborn outfits are you guys keeping in stock?! I don't have many but am now wondering if I should buy a couple more just in case.
with our singleton we only had 7 short sleeve onesie, 7 sleep n plays, and 3-4 kimono style shirts in newborn sizes.  we had more 0-3m stuff.   we had a lot of people bring newborn outifts when they came to visit baby for 1st time so i was glad we did nt buy more

  • I'm considering reaching up in my vag and yanking this kid out myself.  Contractions 15 min apart since about 4am that just refuse to get closer or stronger. (usually 20ish min apart all day every day)  I just need them to get to 10-1-1.

I'm dragging around my laptop while I scrub baseboards in the kitchen, bathroom, and hallway in between these stupid contractions, and as soon as I'm done, I'm going for a walk, and FI is going to paint my toenails.  Labor better be on it's way.

Not very many.  I know I haven't bought any, but I think I've been given a few.

  • Am I the only one that would be perfectly ok with LO spending some more time as an inside baby?

I mean, I can't wait to meet him, but I'm so stressed out about money that I'm afraid I won't be able to enjoy having him here. At least while he's inside I know he's ok and fully taken care of.

Not gonna lie: I was poking around August 14 and read that some ladies kept their kids in NB stuff for 6-7 weeks. If you figure she'll go through 3-4 outfits a day, that was a lot of laundry. So, I bought some extra cheap onesies on clearance. My MFM is estimating a small child based on my body type and A1C, but anything can happen. I just wanted to be a bit more prepared, even if it's not reasonable.
My first two were 7lbs 10 oz and 7lbs 12 oz and both wore newborn stuff for over a month.  I've kept the tags on all of the new newborn stuff besides his coming home outfit and I'll just exchange for bigger sizes if necessary.
The Once Upon a Child consignment store near me had some really good deals on the tiny sizes.  They had a 10 onesies for $10 sale.  The majority I picked out were new with tags.

  • Getting ready to mop.. vacuumed, doing laundry, dusting, cleaning the bathrooms.. some things are done, others aren't, but I just really enjoyed a nutty bar while the kids are watching frozen! Onward I march!!
  • The neighbors are at it again and my entire bedroom and laundry room smell like pot!  I'm about to go ape-shit on someone!

My 2 am lurking lead me over to N14 for their tDAP discussion. I was kind of surprised at how many of their OB offices don't push the vaccine during pregnancy and how many of them are getting it post birth. Whereas the majority here all seem to have progressive OBs who follow the current CDC recommendations. It was interesting.

I saw the same post. Weren't they discussing the flu shot, as well?

I was also shocked by how many women were opting out of the TDAP and flu shot. I just got the flu shot at my last appointment. I did my own research and the CDC recommends the flu shot during pregnancy to help pass some antibodies to my LO, since she is arriving right at the beginning of flu season. I don't typically get the flu shot...but now my decisions don't impact just me, they impact my family.

In other news, and completely unrelated, I just had DH take down all of the curtains in our house for me to wash this week. What nesting level have I reached?
Since I wash my curtains like once every 3 years, I might say you win the nesting game.

And now I want to wash the curtains.

We have lived in this house for three years and this is the first time I even thought to wash them. As DH was taking them down, I could see the dust flying. Oops...

  • My dog is extra cuddly today. Labor must be imminent.

I'm glad we only have blinds at this point. No washing curtains here.

I'm trying to figure out best timing for my flu shot too. I can get it for free at work but I'm not sure if they have the employee vaccines in yet. I also forgot to ask at appointment on Friday if they recommend getting it before I give birth or after.

Yeah it was about the flu shot as well. I'm waiting until October to get mine because I got the flu in January last year and got the shot in September 2013. Since I contracted a pretty common strain, my doc suggested getting it later. I'm still not sure about the flu antibodies being passed down, because I had one resident in my hospital say get it after I deliver and another tell me get it before. I'm more concerned about just getting the flu again in general because it knocked me on my ass, but I just don't know when; I mean I could plan for it at my 38 week appointment, but what if I go into labor before then?

    https://www.cdc.gov/flu/protect/vaccine/qa_vacpregnant.htm?mobile=nocontent

That's the research I was looking at. It does mention passing protection on to your unborn baby, so that's where my basis for my decision on when to get it came in.

I also got the flu in January and it was the most miserable week of my year so far!

  • @sabby2 I was told I could just ask to be given one while I'm at the hospital having the baby.  Not sure if that's an option for you, but it might be worth looking into.

It is but then I have to pay for it. I work at the hospital I'm delivering at so I know I have some options. I just need to contact employee and patient safety...aka... occ. health. Good suggestion though.

I did the Flumist last year. It actually covers more strains of the virus. Unfortunately we can't get it while pregnant because of the live attenuated virus in it. I never got sick all through flu season.

  • Hmm if I'm still lacking progress at my appointment this Thursday, I'm going to inquire about my options and the game plan she has in her head. My appointment after that will be after my due date...

Are you dilated any @nicb13 ?
  • This thread just reminded me that I failed to RSVP to ask for a spot at the flu shot clinic my employer is hosting on Wednesday.  Deadline was Friday.  Maybe they will take pity on me and find a spot?

Oh, and I'm posting here procrastinating because I'm supposed to be getting ready to go to Costco and I know I'm going to want to ride the motorized scooter around (and won't because I'll be too ashamed) and then the rest of the day I'll be utterly useless from the pain of walking around.
