Pregnant after IF

Any CGH Embryo Success Stories Please?

Hi!  I'm new to The Bump as I got my BFP recently.   I love to hear about success stories about CGH tested normal embryos as they'll calm my nerves for my first ultrasound.  I'm currently at 6w1d and scheduled for my first ultrasound next week.

Here's  my history:

Me: 39, PCOS, irregular periods.

DH: 45, swimmers tested normal.

2012: TTC au natural = no success

2013: 3 IUI attempts = no success

2014

Egg Retrieval #1: 19 eggs retrieved.  11 fertilized. 4 embryos made it to the 5th day.

IVF #1: BFN with 2 good blastocysts.

IVF #2: CP with 1 good blastocyst and 1 fair blastocyst.  My HGC levels peaked after a few days.  :(    This is the first time ever I had been pregnant and this is right after I started acupuncture.

Egg Retrieval #2: 18 eggs retrieved. 9 fertilized. 5 embryos made it to the 5th day.  We had CGH done and we only had ONE chromosomally normal embryo.  3 of the 5 were abnormal and testing could not detect the DNA for 1 embryo which is now frozen.   Again, I did acupuncture as well.

My RE believes my egg quality is poor since I can pump out eggs yet a majority do not develop.  I believe him and I'm actually very nervous as we're heading into ultrasound land to look for a heartbeat.

Any stories with IVF and genetic testing is appreciated, even the not so happy ones.   I understand people's need to share.  :)

Thanks!

  • Congratulations! I hope your u/s goes great!

You could post this on SAIF also. I know there are ladies over there who have had babies from embryos that had been tested.

  • I'm not quite following your IVF history from what you wrote above, but it sounds like you're in the position of having a single normal embryo on ice, and you're looking for stories of success from similar positions--is that right? I *think* that CGH is the same as CCS, which is what I did, and I'm more pregnant than I've ever been before. It's very reassuring to know (as much as possible)  during the tense early pregnancy days that the embryo/fetus/baby is chromosomally normal.

I hope that your frostie is a little superstar--good luck!

  • Hi @kmc84‌! Thank you! I am brand new to the board so forgive me for the dumb question -- um what's saif? :)

@pblge‌ thanks! It has been tough 3 years to get to this point! It's reassuring to know successes among normal embryos. How far along are you?
  • @graysky‌ SAIF is success after infertility. Everyone over on that board has brought a baby home after using IF treatments.

  • I have done 6 fresh IVF cycles and one frozen. I finally did CSS testing on the frozen cycle and got my BFP. I am 31 weeks now. I hope that this gives you some hope. Fingers crossed for you!! <3
  • I did IVF ICSI with PGD. I had 4 miscarriages in 10 months where 2 were confirmed trisomy before we started IVF. My RE suggested I just have more bad eggs than good because of my age, I just turned 40. So with IVF we had 19R 18M and fertilized. 10 made it to 5 day but only 3 normal. They transferred 2 normal on 9-11 and I'm 5 weeks right now, still to early to say it was a success.

I also had 1 unknown that was frozen but they thawed it and retested and it came back abnormal.

    Good luck!
    Fucking bump!!!!

@kmc84‌ thanks! :). @pblge‌ congrats to you too! it's on 9/30 this Tuesday! @pblge @Pintobean39‌ and @spiritbaby‌ did you guys bleed or spot at all? I am bleeding on and off red (no cramps). RE didn't seem worried when I told him. It's scary but have read it's common that the cervix is irritated because of the Crinone inserts. Trying not to worry. thank you for sharing! Trying to keep positive!
  • Congrats and good luck to all:)

@graysky‌ I don't have any bleeding or spotting but I'm on 2ml of PIO daily. I read that all the progesterone suppositories can cause spotting. If you were to look at your cervix right now it's blueish in color because of all the blood flow going to it. Doesn't take much for it to get irritated.
    Fucking bump!!!!

I've had a fair bit of spotting, all brown, and I'm not even doing the crinone or other suppositories. It's apparently much more common in women who did IVF, perhaps because early pregnancy is actually anatomically different, particularly in a FET. Dunno. Regardless, all has been fine for me. Only thing I wish someone had told me, and instead I read randomly while googling, is that Rh negative women need to get the Rhogam shot with all bleeding. Otherwise I was assured that a little bit of spotting is no big deal. :)
