  • We're planning to carve a pumpkin showing an in-utero baby and I'm going to hold the pumpkin. After photo is taken, will caption my husband (who will be holding up a beer and smiling) as "drinking for 2" and caption me (while looking forlorn and pouty) as "sober for 12 weeks".  That'll be the major announcement for social media lol.  Having first u/s today and have already told a handful of folks... but haven't announced it to any family or close friends yet.

  • We are doing 4 pumpkins, each with our "name" and year of birth.  The last little pumpkin will have a question mark with "May 2015" written under it.

  • Our plan is to hold out until Thanksgiving. My BIL is getting married in October and his fiancée, whom we all adore, is going through some serious family things. Her dad was diagnosed with a very aggressive cancer and given months to live recently, so we don't want to steal the thunder from their wedding any more.

Our plan for immediate family a shirt on our son that either says "keep calm & know this is my last Thanksgiving as an only child" or "this kid is getting promoted to big brother" with thumbs pointing at himself & see how long it takes anyone to notice his shirt. For extended family and friends, we'll be announcing with our family picture in the Christmas card the following week and then sharing a picture like this on Facebook once the important people had gotten their cards.

  • We'd really like to announce at DS's 2nd birthday party by having him open a shirt that says "promoted to big brother".  Not sure we'll be able to hide it that long though.  I'll be 14 weeks.

  • I think we will have a picture of ds (will be 23mo when baby is due) ready a book about being a big brother. We are book nerds. Kinda like this that I found on Pinterest.

coolest way i've ever seen !

  • We will be telling our family at Thanksgiving dinner because everyone will be together and it will be after 12 weeks, we always bring cheesecake for dessert so I plan on having something written on the top, that way when his grandmother goes to take it out of the box she will see it first, I am hoping to get everyone's reaction on video.
  • If all goes well we plan to tell everyone at the family Thanksgiving dinner. In the middle of the party my DH will change into a shirt that says "Be nice to me, my wife is pregnant!" And my stepson will wear one that says "Big brother - May 2015"
  • Doing it in my Christmas Cards, which will go out Dec 1. Just a picture of our family and have it Love, Brandon, Kelly, Duke and Baby.

  • Once we see the first dating ultra sound we 'll announce.
  • I have a 6yr old son and 3yr old daughter, and plan to line them up beside me with numbers on their shirts.
My son is #1, My daughter is #2, and then I will put a #3 on my belly.

The caption on the photo will say "Good things come in threes! Due May 2015"
  • I'm still thinking of a good way to tell my stepson. He is 9 and such a sweet boy and so anxious for us to have a baby that I really want to make it special for him. Any ideas or things u have done in the past? He loves sports and Pokemon lol

My parents are visiting second week in October. I have a habit of concocting elaborate plans that never happen. That said - while perusing Pinterest I got the idea to A.) make fortune cookies with the announcement inside and have them after dinner at home. Or B.) get some real ones from a Chinese restuarant, meticulously and painstakingly replace the fortunes and reseal them, then take our parents to said restaurant and have the waiter hand them out with the bill. Any ideas to fine tune this or make it easier? We aren't even Chinese food fans. I'm wondering if a Thai or Vietnamese restaurant would just play along.

    BFP: 9/17/2014 (and 9/18...and 9/19...)
    Estimated Due: 5/22/2015
    First one :)

  • The only thing planned now is to take out some of the photos from the frames above our couch and replace them with a "Reserved for Baby, May 15" sign. Then have all of our friends over for a party (which we do all the time so it's not suspicious) and just let them all find it.
I really love all the Halloween ideas! Hubs and I LOVE Halloween but it didn't even occur to me that that will be close to our twelve week mark. It's perfect!
  • It's probably been done before, but we are having fall photos taken and we are going to have pumpkins for all of us (including our three kids) and we will have a shot with a tiny pumpkin with the baby's due date on it!! I'm so excited! I'll be right around 12-13 weeks when Halloween arrives
We are doing the same announcement. I think it's such a cute idea :)

  • The day I have my 1st appointment and US my mil will be with me so I was going to have her come to the appointment with me and dd. The weekend after my Sonogram is a family reunion  I have a book for dd that says something like I am a big sister and was going to put the sonogram in the back of the book and have dd make her great grandmother read it to her.  The rest of the family I am not quite sure they may all be around when the book is revealed. Last time I gave my grandmother a oneis that said something about I love my GG for her birthday,
  • Hi everyone. Looking to do a pregnancy announcement photo shoot. Does anyone know a reasonable priced photographer in the Chicago land area? Thanks

@Jamesy @sthrncharmer  Great creative minds think alike! DH and I are Disney people. We went to Disney World for our honeymoon, and we live in southern CA relatively close to Disneyland--we've made good use of annual passes the past few years! We're planning to incorporate the bride and groom Mickey ears we wore on our honeymoon with a little pair of ears we'll personalize/embroider with "Baby (lastname)" and find a cute place in the park to do a picture. The park is all decked out for Halloween already, so we might even work that in, too!

  • I'm waiting till mid December so I plan in doing something Christmasy for social media
TTC since 2013 (grad of 3T)
    EDD: May 24, 2015
  • Since this is surprise #3, we may put "oops" on DD1, "I" on DH,  "did it" on DD2, and "again" on my belly.  MAYBE.
Or, I may just take a picture of the look on DD2's face when we tell her that she is going to have a new brother or sister. She is pretty expressive and has be all about babies for the last few months so it should be good.
OR, we all ski and snowboard, well not DD2 yet, but maybe we will line up skis or snowboard of different sizes and write dates..
    I should probably decide.

  • We are announcing on Halloween. DH's grandma lives in town. MIL, FIL and possibly step MIL will be there (its all weird don't ask) My mom, dad, and grandma also come. DH is going as Cat In The Hat, DS is going as Thing1 and my belly is going as Thing2. I'm sewing this logo on to the lower area of a red sweatshirt and I got a blue tutu to wear just to add something more to it.

We are doing family pictures next weekend and doing one similar to @tinyjoys‌ but this is the card we are using. We will email and text these to aunts and uncles, and close friends and then use it to announce on social media.

There are tons of websites where you can order custom fortune cookies, like https://www.personalized-fortune-cookies.com or https://www.myluckyfortune.com or https://www.fortunecookieplanet.com. A friend of mine did this to propose to his girlfriend and it was so cute! Hope it goes well!
  • My inlaws are in town and we are doing lunch at my sister in laws house tomorrow after church. I'm making a cake, and writing baby "sassfrass" grand arrival expected may 2015. My guess is either my father in law or sister in law will be the first to dig in lol. Then I am going to put together fall photos and do a cute fb picture announcement. With a catchy phrase

  • My husband and I always wear moccasins, so when we found baby ones.. We just got too excited and had to post a picture! (: this is what we did:
  • We will place 2 medium pumpkins with one small pumpkin in between on a stair then we will stand on the stair above with us standing behind the medium pumpkins and a pair of baby shoes behind the small pumpkin. Photo will only show about knees down, not a full body. This is what we will use for announcing to social media but we will do in person announcement for family. I'm telling my mom next week as I'm 8 weeks and last time we were about to tell them but then I miscarried and they were so shocked! So telling earlier this time. For my in laws we will probably do the group photo/video idea where we ask for a group picture then whoever is taking the photo/video will say "1,2,3 say Megan's pregnant" instead of saying cheese.

  • My husband and I are going to get pictures done together and developed. The last picture is going to be us holding the US picture and that will be the last one in the stack. When we go visit family we will tell them about getting pictures done and how we want them to have one. So when they are going through the developed pictures they will hopefully be surprised when they get to the last one :) When we announce on Facebook we will probably do something with our two dogs...anyone have ideas?
  • We have 2 labs and my very excited sister made a sign for one of them to wear in a picture with my DH and I that reads "Baby Collins--Guard Dogs Duty Starts ~May 2015~"

    I loved it!
  • I already took the pic of this but have to wait til november >:( our two dogs (chiweenie and terrier schnauzer mix) in kids shirts that say 'big brother' and 'big sister' and best part is, they both look pissed. Hahaha

  • For my in-laws (first time grandparents), I wanted it to be extra special. But I'm no psychic, so hopefully this will work.
We're telling October 16, so were going to carve pumpkins. It's a tradition in my husbands family. So my husband and I are going to team against his parents. We each get a pumpkin. The better team wins. I'm going to carve a baby in a uterus (google pics) and hold it in front of my belly, and he's going to carve May 2015. ......I hoooooope they get ittt.......
  • Sorry forgot to incorporate your little one! Maybe you could have her gut a pumpkin, and then you or your husband carve big sister!
  • We told our close friends last weekend when we had everyone over for a game night. Bought the Jane Lynch Hollywood Game night game and added in a game called 4 Letter Word. It involves blind folds and foam letters. We came up with clues and they had to guess the letters they were holding (while blindfolded) and unscramble the letters to get the word in the right order. After a few rounds of the game one of my husbands clue was " S.M. is growing one of these." It was amazing when our close friend screamed out BABY (she was holding the B). The entire game was on video and the reactions after are priceless!
  • My in-laws are not good with surprises...they always guess or raise a red flag if we're planning something.  Instead of trying to surprise them and make a big deal of it, we're getting each of our moms a Pandora bead of a baby carriage.  They both love Pandora and we gave them each a bead on our wedding day so this would continue that tradition.  Once we tell our parents, we want to have a cute pic taken of us sitting on our front porch with our pumpkins and some mums (to make it festive) and I would hold a small pumpkin at my belly while my husband holds a sign saying "Coming May 2015"

  • We told our parents and siblings last weekend with this picture... Backstory: Hubby and I met on vacation at a dude ranch riding horses in Montana!
