On track for big baby.

35+5 days and baby is weighing in at 7lbs 2oz. And no dilation. My DH was a 10lb and I am beyond frightened. Sleeping is a thing of the past and moving is painful. Especially when she moves. I'm afraid that with 4 weeks to go I'm going to have a 12 lb baby. I'm afraid of a c section and the Dr hasn't mentioned inducing labor. I know how important a full term baby is but I want this little (big) girl out!

    Being my first child it's kind of hard to just remain "chill" The measurements did come from an ultrasound and I have read that they are not always accurate but still got me dwelling what the outcome may be.

    Ya know, I never really thought about it like that. I just always figured that the bigger the baby the harder the delivery. Just praying for a safe delivery and a healthy baby. Thanks for the encouragement.

    The ultrasound estimates on my LO at almost 33 weeks were close to 6 pounds already, with all measurements almost 4 weeks ahead, including the head.

    I'm a FTM and still rather "chill" despite this; especially since my MFM told me he wasn't at all worried about LO's size, and that he tends to take the measurement estimates rather lightly.

    5 cycles of "TTC" - 3 intentional, 2 not so intentional.  5 BFPs.  My rainbow arrived 10/15/14.
    TFMC 08.02.13 at 19+ weeks. Everyday I grieve for my little Olive.

    Labor is going to happen no matter what. If you stress yourself out about the size of your baby, the pain, etc it is just going to make the experience stressful.

    I would focus on ways to relieve pain during labor (figuring out what positions help you feel better now) and talking to your DH about the best way for him to support you and relieve your tension.

    Labor is scary regardless of the size of the baby. You will make it through, though, and at the end have a beautiful baby to love on!

    I had a sonogram at 36w and baby was 6 pounds 5 oz

    I had one at 37w and baby was 6 pounds 12oz

    And I had my last one, thank goodness at yesterday at 38w and baby was 6 pounds 14oz

    Yep only 2 oz heavier, all same machine same doctor. 1. Past 36 weeks they can slow down or speed up in growth 2. Measurements can be off 3. It all depends on their position and head size in the end

    My oldest was 10lb6oz with a 15" head completely unexpected.. Never had a reason to believe he was that big or that he wpuld be that big.. he was born vaginally without any complications (I did tear from coast to coast though).. what im trying to say is that having a big baby isnt the end of the world, stressing about the unknown is completely pointless because theres nothing you can do to change it! :) try to enjoy the next few weeks and pretty soon you'll have a sweet little smoosh to snuggle! :)

    I hope the last month of this board finds everyone keeping their bitchy sides to themselves and remaining "chill" themselves when replying to questions. If replying to an innocent FTM question irritates you that badly ladies please just don't respond and move on! This is in regards to an increase of nasty replies I've seen lately. Were all ready to be done and hopefully here to be supportive of each other.

    Wow can we say this went left and fast. I just posted looking for a little advice and encouraging words (which I received and moved on) then it just got nasty for no reason. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but no need to be hateful about it. Encourage each other women for no pregnancy is the same.

    Theyestimated my son to be almost 8lb around 37/38wks, he was born at 40w5d at 8lb 2oz. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

    OP-From someone who birthed a 6 lb baby with a gigantic head who was sunny side up, I agree. Oh and my u/s and predictions were that he'd be at least 8 lbs. Remember those predictions can be off either way by up to two lbs.

    This is really great advice @emerald27. The mid-wife in my dr.'s office said its likely I could have an 8-9 lb baby based on last ultrasound, average growth rate, etc... I take it with a grain of salt, given the potential for inaccuracies - but the way my stomach feels, I think this is a big baby - either way reading your post here offers a lot of food for thought and reassurance, as my due date fast approaches. So I know I'm supposed to comment on OP's original post, but your subsequent post here full of such awesome positive energy is what caught my attention and I had to call it out. :\">

    I'm concerned my eye brow lady thinks I am having a 10lb baby. She knows her shit. I am also concerned that she looks at my crotch after she says 'oh ya she's going to be a big one.' I appreciate the concern for my vagina but it's a little uncomfortable.
