Horror-esque stretch marks (beware of pic)

Hello everyone!

Sooo my stretch marks are freaking AWFUL. I applied cream twice a day from the beginning and kept hydrated. However, they appeared LITERALLY OVERNIGHT (thanks genes and tiny torso!) and now they're so itchy/burny they keep me up at night, and they're this horrible bright magenta. My mom is terrified of them (she says they're the worst she's seen) as am i.

Does anyone have marks like this? Do they keep you up? Would you suggest bugging your ob?

Post pics of yours! LET US SHARE (sorry my pic is upside down! Lol mobile -_-)

  • Mine look like that only lower, they start from one hip and go all the way across my belly to the other hip :(
Mine itch a little but I don't scratch them. I take a bath in Epsom salt almost every night, that may help but I'm not sure. I pretty much just love baths haha.
  • My sister had stretch marks waaaaay worse so don't beat yourself up. My midwife says 2 things determine how they'll look: the amount of weight you gain, and genetics...and one of these you have zero control over. Cream won't prevent stretch marks but it may make them less itchy...
  • That was me last pregnancy just in the lower half. This pregnancy is twice as bad.

If you don't mind me asking, how did they look after you gave birth? Did they ever fade enough that you couldn't really see them?
  • Mine faded pretty well after, but it took a few months. But I am also pretty pale to begin with.. Try vanicream or vitamin e oil to help with itching.
  • They were still there, but had faded pretty well.

  • Are you sure you don't have the PUPPS rash? Could be why they are so red and itchy.
  • I've started to get some too but they're lower. They do itch like crazy though.

  • Pupps could be it. Benedryl!!!! I don't have any new stretch marks but my first pregnancy I seen two and then afterwards I noticed more that I didn't see. My skin didn't bounce back like a rubber band either. It was left all stretched out and hanging. :(. I don't know how some women don't have stretch marks or don't look like they ever gave birth. Crazy!

  • I don't have any yet. My mom didn't so fingers crossed!! But I am really sorry that they're super itchy and burning that sucks. :(

  • I got a few at 35 weeks last time.

Let's see what happens this time around!

And I agree....  No magic lotion or potion can get prevent them.  They happen too far below the surface for any moisturizer to really get to them.  Fortunately, they fade.  :)

  • My boobs and stomach don't have stretch marks (boobs did with DD1), but I do have serious itching (albeit without red marks). I've been using the Honest Company's Belly Balm and I do like that. I alternate with coconut oil as a more cost effective measure but I find that it takes a long time for coconut oil to soak in and then I smell like a pina colada (but cannot drink a proper one, argh!). For my boob stretch marks, they faded dramatically with time.
  • No new stretch marks. I did get some during the latter part of my first pregnancy, but some of the others were the result of massive weight gain. I "earned" a lot more during my third pregnancy due to severe polyhydramnios. I doubt I'll get anymore as the skin has already been stretched quite a bit, but good thing it bounces back within a few weeks postpartum. My stretch marks from before are very, very faint now. They don't bug me as much as when they were fresh.

  • At least your belly button is adorable. It looks like it's puckered up for a kiss.

Mine are pretty similar except they are also coming in from the side from my hips. So on the bright side, at least you don't have them on your hips also :)

I looked up pics and i'm starting to develop little blisters and such SO THIS COULD BE IT. I had no idea i could get it though, since i'm having a girl! Crazy.

To everyone else who took the time to reply: YOU ARE AWESOME. Screw stretch marks, esp boob ones.

Never heard of puppp being specific to the sex of the baby before. My sister had it really bad with my niece.

Eta- I know it's more common with boys, but not exclusive to those having boys.

  • I would keep moisturizing to keep the itchiness away with something like coconut oil. I have no idea if they will go away after delivery, but at least if you keep moisturizing you can stay somewhat comfortable.

  • I agree with the PP's posts some kind of moisturizer or try Bio-oil.  It should help the itchiness at least and maybe calm down the irritation

  • I have stretch marks on my ass (no one wants to see a pic of that)   and some are starting right above my bikini line.   I have to use a mirror to see them,  since they are under my belly.

I fully expect to get many more though.  My sisters belly looked like yours,  so thats what I am expecting as well.

I am religiously oiling my belly twice a day.   Its still itchy as hell,  but I hope it may be helping to keep the stretch marks at bay.

Sorry your belly is so marked up,  they should fade with time,  even if they never go away.     People say to wear them with pride.   Not sure I will ever be quite that comfortable with mine......but I am going with the "baby is totally worth it" mentality.  :)

  • Aww! No new stretch marks this time around. With my first I developed three, and then with my second I'm covered. I gained so much extra weight with her... 70lbs... I'm normally a modest b cup and ended up with E's while nursing so my boobs are covered... I have stretch marks all over the lower half of my belly, hips, inner thighs, and even around my knees!! They itched like crazy so I just tried to stay as moisturized as possible. They have all faded now. They are just kind of shiny but hardly noticeable.

  • I have no new stretch marks as a result of this pregnancy.  *ducks and covers*

I do have some old silvery faded ones on my butt from a few years back when my ass was expanding due to a steady diet of Oreos, deep fried cheese curds and no exercise.

That looks itchy/painful/awful and I hope you find some relief soon!  I've been using coconut oil and also a good moisturizing lotion throughout my pregnancy to keep the itchies away.

  • I got a few on my hips and upper thighs with my first pregnancy and they faded so I can hardly tell I had any. This time I started getting some on my belly a couple weeks ago and I'm sure I'll get more now that I've started the downward spiral.
