I really really wanted to do that, but DH hates Charlotte. I felt that she should have a more formal name to go by when she is older if she chooses, but DH hates it. Good suggestion though!

I agree with this and I love the clicky polls. I was hesitant but glad I did it. I'm seeing a common theme on which names everyone likes and which ones are love/hate, not to mention the great mn advice.

    Maybe Charla?

  • Ok this is kind of flame worthy because I guess it can be viewed as unfair to non English speaking people or something but I work in an industry where I rely on utmost good faith and have to believe what the clients are telling me but I have to use my judgement if I think they are lying and make sure my own butt is covered. But if I can't understand them, or they can't understand me very well I ALWAYS make them sign everything I do after putting it into writing. I refuse to move forward until everything I have said is in writing and initialed/signed by the client no matter how "little" the thing is that I am doing. It makes me feel bad because I don't do it if there is no language barrier but I am afraid to get sued on the grounds that the contact isn't valid because "they didn't understand what I was saying" or "they told me the truth and I didn't understand". I also have very little patience trying to explain things when someone clearly doesn't understand me but just nods at what I am saying or answers yes when it isn't a yes or no questions, that's how issues happen! Urg!

I'm afraid of the flaming here....sometimes, I have evil thoughts when I read the crazy gender disappointment threads. I'm not talking about those with momentary disappointment, but thinking more about the psycho recently that would have rather not have the child, etc.

My evil thought is that I am having one of each so can't have gender disappointment. I really wanted to tell her that.

  • FFFC (FF bc it's weight-related but more spammy)- Went to endocrinologist appt today.  Last time, nurse was highly concerned bc "I lost so much weight from previous appts."  Yep, I saw you right when I got pg and now I'm in the throes of 1st tri nausea/no appetite/no alcohol so I dropped 10-12 lbs.  Today, same nurse commented I've gained 5 lbs since last apt 8 wks ago.  Again- yep, I'm 2nd Tri and should be gaining some weight though I'm still slightly under my pre-pg weight.

I rolled my eyes, but seriously lady?  Are you trying to make me feel crappy no matter what?  My ob is perfectly fine with my weight fluctuation.

#2- There are several times at work, esp when dealing w/difficult pts and family, that I get through my shift by thinking of the overtime + critical shift pay.

Ugh on #1. Last time I went in to see my OB, the nurse was making small talk with me while taking my blood pressure and asked how I was dealing with the weather, as we were in the middle of a crazy heat wave. I smiled big and said, "oh, I'm making the most of it, ice cream for every meal!"

She stopped dead in her tracks and literally clucked at me, then said, "you have to watch those glucose levels!!"

Lesson learned: don't make pregnancy jokes with nurses. And yes, I could totally joke with my OB about that stuff with no issue. So weird!

  • @kefttsc‌, I want to be against that train of thought but at the same time I kind of get it.

I'm not sure what you do but I often find myself in a similar position and it can be frustrating bc it can be used against me later. Luckily I can just shut it down and book a translator!
