11weeks and 5days with twins and not showing.

This is my second pregnancy and first time I've ever carried twins. I started showing before 3 months with my son 6yrs ago. When should I expect to start showing with the twins?. I get bloated at night but the belly disappears by morning. I've had a lot of morning sickness so food hasn't really been my friend I lost 2lbs between 6weeks and 10 weeks. Dr. doesn't seem to be concerned and she said they are measuring up to date and they both have strong heart beats at 164  and my bp is perfect. I'm not a heavy woman, I'm fairly fit. I guess I kinda figured since there were two i'd be showing a little already. Anyone not showing and thought you would be by now.

Re: 11weeks and 5days with twins and not showing.

  • I started showing maybe around 19-20 weeks (to me, most others couldn't see).  I didn't start wearing maternity clothes until about 24 weeks.  I gained about 5 pounds the first trimester.

D & L are here at 34 weeks 4 days by vaginal and breech delivery on 11/19/2013
Two healthy boys weighing 4 lbs 15 ozs and 4 lbs 5 ozs.  Only 6 days in the NICU and getting bigger, stronger and cuter every day!
  • I started showing at 18 weeks

  • Even w a twin pregnancy, your uterus is barely out of your pelvis by 12w and the babies are still pretty small.

I was in mat pants fairly early, but that was for comfort. I could hide my belly w flowy tops until 18-20w. The twins were my second pg and I really didn't start showing w my first until 24-26w.

Once you start getting big, though, you will get bigger faster than you ever thought possible.

  • Your uterus won't move up beyond the pelvic bones until week 12 or 13, so it is not possible to show before then.

This isn't true in all cases. With my singleton I was measuring about 20wks when I was 15, ie. my fundus was at my belly button. No way my ute was below my pubic bone at 12-13 weeks. And with these ones my fundus was definitely palpable by 10 weeks.
I started showing with twins maybe around 14-16 weeks, but probably didn't look pregnant to others (that didn't know) until after 18 weeks.

    wtf lol!!!!

I was showing by about 10 weeks and I had lost like 6 pounds from lack of appetite! I think its different for everyone. Just had to chime in for anyone reading this and wanting to slit their wrists because their MATERNITY pants stopped fitting by 15 weeks like mine did.

In first tri, it's bloat, not baby/babies.

Same here. I think that rule of thumb holds true if it's a first pregnancy and with a singleton but not necessarily in subsequent pregnancies and with multiples. This is my third pregnancy (2nd twin pregnancy) and at 10 weeks my uterus is definitely above my pelvic bone already.

  • Ladies thank you all so much for all your input. I feel so much better knowing that everyone was at different weeks when they started to show. I start 12 weeks tomorrow and thinking of going public next week. I need to tell my 5 1/2  yr old he's going to be a big brother and our chats in the past have not gone over so well when I asked what he thought about having a brother or sister.
