Thats really cool!! We have a lot of birthdays in december too. Its so fun!! And honestly i love my birthday so close to christmas i mean come on whos not in a good mood close to christmas?
@bvsbabymomma - is that Gap? If so, I got it in both grey and white because I couldn't decide. Since we are team green, I'm also buying one pink and one blue onsie for underneath.
I'd go with the yellow. The dress is cute but better for a special occasion, not a quick car ride home.
I don't have a picture of mine, but it's just a onsie/pant/jacket set I got at target the day I got my BFP last August. Since that pregnancy ended in a miscarriage I'm very excited to bring my rainbow baby home in it!
BFP #1 11/28/09 ~ EDD 8/6/10 ~ DS Born 8/9/10 BFP #2 8/27/13 ~ EDD 5/8/14 ~ Natural MC 9/18/13 at 6 weeks, 6 days BFP#3 3/28/14 ~ EDD 12/7/14 ~ DD Born 11/21/14 BFP#4 6/15/17 ~ EDD 2/20/18
I got a cute onesie with a bow tie on it at Target. I'll also have a warmer outfit on standby. It's Florida, so the day he's born could be 80 or 50 outside.
They don't have it on the Gymboree site anymore, but it's a little coral colored sleeper with a fox on it (with a fox tail on the butt!). Matching fox hat and booties. I'm such a dork.
Edit: I found a pic!

I know I'm in the super minority on this, but why do people care so much about this? I'm genuinely not trying to be obnoxious when I ask that. Maybe I'm just really unsentimental, but who cares what the baby comes home in? He/she will probably go through at least 3 outfits that day - why does the one for the car ride home have to have so much thought and energy put into it?

This is totally how I feel. Like I will be sentimental about keeping the outfit she did come home in bug I am not planning anything special just warm And easy to get the baby into.

I have DD's outfit (a Carter's sleeper and a crocheted hat). It's not anything fancy or special, just warm and comfy for her, and now it's sentimental. I'll do the same with this baby. I don't know why I care - not enough to get a dressy outfit or anything - but I guess because my parents saved my "coming home" outfit and it was ingrained in my head that it had to be something that we kept forever? Haha. Again, I will stress the "warm and comfy" part of the equation. I think a lot of FTMs don't realize how squishy a newborn is--they don't even look right in regular outfits!

Probably a cute little fleece sleeper with a onesie underneath. I'm in Nebraska and it'll be chilly.
Honestly, I think bringing home outfits are a little overrated...for us it takes 10 mins to come home from the hospital and more than likely in that 10 minutes it will be spit up on and pooped on.
M born 1/6/09 - A born 12/31/10 - baby BOY RCS 12/2/14
I will be taking him home in a fleece onsie, hat, ect. Bringing two different ones in two different sizes. Its more about warmth than anything but I am crocheting the hats. Btw I think people care so much because of pictures....like "oh, here we are coming home from hospital".....

These are my thoughts exactly. I thought I missed some kind of memo. I just don't see what the big deal is and why you'd get a fresh baby dressed up to go from the hospital to the car to home.
I figure they're already uncomfortable enough with just being born, having their umbilical cord cut off, maybe just circumsized, poked and prodded for several days, etc. that the least I can do is let them wear comfy clothes. Besides, I don't know about y'all, but I had one freaking cute baby and he looked awesome no matter what he wore

I think it is just something little to get excited about, and, I am in the simple/cute not overly fussy camp of an outfit. For me, it was just fun to find something that I thought was cute and I could see our little guy coming home in... I didn't spend a lot of money, and I'm sure I could have found something else that I found just as cute. I just enjoyed picking out an outfit.
I'd definitely go with the 2nd outfit. The dress won't look like that once she's buckled in for the ride home, plus her little legs will be freezing (unless you live in south florida or something). I'm all for a good dress, but for me, the first few weeks will be all about comfort and ease.
Here's what we're doing for baby girl, partly because it's one of the few pieces of clothing I have in "newborn" size. It's so soft!
Another vote for the yellow sleeper! I am getting an outfit for coming home but it's going to be something comfy (like a fleece sleeper). I think because this baby is another boy I wanted to get something that was "his" since the majority of his clothes will be hand me downs from DS1.
My H is killing me with this. Both of my other boys were born in the summer and went home in the same FSU onesie, socks, and hat. H wants this one to do the same, but since it will be cooler I would have to add either long sleeve onesie underneath or thing jacket and pants. I want to get a dark blue sleeper and bring this one home in that and his minion hat. We shall see.

I do have to say that those little fleece outfits with the ears are just about the cutest dang things ever and it makes me quiver with excitement just thinking about snuggling a fresh baby in one of those!
The dress is adorable - but not practical. BUT if that's what you want, go for it. You'll probably want them in a sleeper where they are comfy and warm. There's plenty of time for dress up when they aren't so squishy and new. (My daughter is 2 1/2 and I still get to dress her up from time to time)

I don't know if anyone has brought this up, but ....
CONSIDER THE UMBILICAL STUMP.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I remember having to fold DD#1's diapers down to make sure they didn't rub/irritate her little umbilical stump. I wouldn't go with anything that has a waist band since it might hit that sensitive area. I don't think I put my DD in pants until the stump fell off.
I will get something warm, comfy and cute for LO. I had a cute outfit my mom got when DD came home nothing fancy but I did kept it and she loves seeing it. Also mom still has mine and my brothers and took pictures of our kids wearing ours it was sweet.
The little yellow sleeper is fleece and it's already cold here in Illinios. I bought it for her to come home in. But I didn't want others asking me if she was going to wear a little dress. I need to find a hat and mittens. Do u take your own outfits to the hospital for the days you stay there? Or do they have to put them in whatever they have? I think why a take home outfit is so important to me is that we have struggled for years to have a baby. If my mom was here I know she would buy her one. Also thanks for all your answers
With Grace - we only brought a going home outfit and used the hospital clothes. This time, we will bring our own sleeper gowns (the ones with the open bottoms) and a coming home outfit.

STM's, am I wrong? Being too cautious?
No, I don't think you're being too cautious. I purposely put him in sleepers or other things that were loose in that area until it fell off. I did do pants a couple of times, but folded them down well under the stump. I was so scared of it catching on something!

I have to agree about the ears! Even though I have given zero thought into what he'll come home in, I do love the snuggly outfits with the ears!
Re: Bring home baby outfit!
Also a side note my birthday is the 28th so you know birthday gift for the stranger!! Just kidding. But for real i love the dress!!
