Guise, they are calling us mean on FB again (for the second time today). Apparently when people post crap like this we are supposed to support them. This is a SUPPORT group (allegedly). But I am not sure how to give support when I can't decipher a question, so someone else do that.
Oh the horror! Maybe all these shitty posts should be on FB instead because that's where the sensitive notches hang out.
Don't you send that shit over to FB! Don't make me GBCFB!
All boy bands had one ugly and/or creeper. In NSYNC it was Chris, and I'd say Howie from Backstreet boys. Affirmative Action for pop music.
Shawn Stockman in Boyz II Men, Danny Wood in NKOTB. It made the group accessible, I guess? Like the screaming hordes of fangirls felt like they had a shot with at least one of the guys in the group?
pnwlover12 - Yes. You are the only person who associated the lesser ("ugly and/or creeper") party of a group with affirmative action.
Not a big deal because I don't figure it was intentional, but an eyebrow-raising view of AA nonetheless.
I'm sorry if that offended you.
My thinking behind AA is an equal opportunity for all. So me saying that having an "ugly or creeper" in a boy band was AA for pop music was not meant to be racist, but that everyone had a chance. It was meant to be light hearted- calling it racist is a bit of a stretch IMO. Poor Justin and Chris must be used to all the racism they have faced though.
pnwlover12 thanks for apologizing. I wasn't offended... just raised an eyebrow. lol Affirmative action doesn't have anything to do with lowering any standards to let somebody in (i.e. ugly guy in pop band =/= smart woman at Harvard), but I think I get how you meant it.
No worries.

Where is @Saragoeswest? She has been supportive today and upholding our (previous) reputation of rainbow farts and unicorns.
I had to distract myself from TB last night by eating pie and ice cream. I couldn't trust myself to not WK again.

Yes, I realize it doesn't mean lowering standards. Like I said in my first response at being accused of being racist, I said it meaning everyone has the same fair chance. Seeing as how I was discussing an "ugly guy" being in a group full of really attractive men, I was just making a joke and it had nothing to do with a person's race. Also AA applies to other factors other than just race (people with disabilities, etc.)
I know you said "no worries" but it isn't really easy for me to just brush that off. That is the first time I've ever been accused of saying "racist shit" and it bothers me.
All that being said, I am truly sorry if that offended anyone, as I see some people agreed with you. Was not my intention to give off a racist vibe. At all. Ever.

Very passive aggressive "no worries" you threw out there. Good lord.
Right? No worries after you just accused someone (me) of "racist shit". Totes fine. Just throw it out there.
an action or policy favoring those who tend to suffer from discrimination, especially in relation to employment or education; positive discrimination.
Found this on the Google. It pretty much sums up what I think AA is. I don't think @pnwlover12 was saying "racist shit." First of all, she was talking about a bunch of dudes, some white, some not. Second, AA doesn't just have to do with race. Third, ugly people are discriminated against, so I think her original statement was legit. I think calling it racist is pretty inflammatory and a gross overreaction. This has been bothering me all morning. I don't know why I am so bothered by it. I am tired and having a hard time thinking coherently, but I guess I just need to say: @pnwlover12, what you said was not racist at all.
I really appreciate this. The original comment about it being racist really bothered me.
All the good boy bands have a creeper. It makes the others look good. I also thought it was crazy at the NKOTB concert that Boyz II Men was the opener. 98 degrees had like two good songs. Their performance was weak. And End of the Road is one of the best songs ever. Oh, all this talk is making me miss middle school dances.
Let's not forget Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday. I will ugly cry so hard and sing that song with all of the feelings when I hear it. Anytime and anywhere. And Motown Philly is still my jam.

If Motownphilly comes on 90s on 9, I will sit in my car, even if I've reached my destination, just to listen to it and dance in my seat. It's a sign of a good day if that song comes on.

:-t Was THIS the "racist" comment?
/:) I didn't catch any racism here. I think the issue here is that most people associate the term with race, which several PPs corrected, and ignorance to the full definition of the terminology leads to misinterpretation. (not YOUR problem @pnwlover12 )
