Limerick PJ's Comfort Breast Pump

I received this pump through work (since insurance doesn't cover one - I called, no luck) as it was my only option. As far as I'm aware, you can't change the flanges and I'm wondering if I would be able to pump more with a different pump. I don't want to spend the money on one if the results were going to be the same though. I was wondering if anyone had experience with this pump? If so, have you used any others?

  • I've used this pump just fine through two babies. What's your concern exactly?

  • I was mainly curious if anyone had used this pump and a medela pump, and what their preference was.

  • Ah, well, I use the PJ pump at work and a medela one at home.  The PJ pump has a timer right on the machine so you can see how long it has been going.  It is also quieter.  The medela pump automatically goes from the initial mode to the real suck mode and on the PJ, you have to remember to turn up the dial.  The PJ has fewer pieces to clean, but the pieces have to be purchased online and you can't just get them at babies R us like for the Medela.  I have not tried the Medela customer support, but I got really quick answers from PJ when ever I called them.  I am not sure which one works better because I haven't done a scientific study, but I feel like I get a little more quickly from the Medela.  If you can, I would get two pumps, so that you can leave one at work and one at home.   I rinse out the parts at work after each pump and only take home the parts to wash on Friday nights.  They are both equally comfortable (as comfortable as pumping can be, which is not at all). Good Luck!

  • I used the PJs pump with my first, and got another for DD. I was really happy with the pump. The flanges/horns are one size fits all bc of the soft silicon, which I actually really liked. Instead if just tugging at your nipple, they tug and massage which is more similar to what baby does naturally.
