H and I are considering a trip down to Lancaster, Pa with DD. We used to live there and we love it and have been wanting to go back for a visit. It's about 5.5 hours from us so it's not exactly a quick drive and DD could possibly be a terror in the car...but it would be a lot of fun once we got there. We sure won't be going anywhere for awhile once the baby arrives so I'm thinking it's worth the chance!

And I'm supposed to find out when I can pick up my new Mazda today! It better be by Wednesday or it won't be pretty!

  • @MauiBliss‌ I always leave my crockpot on the counter and I've never had any problems. Sometimes I even leave on my kitchen table, it's near an outlet, if I know I'm going to need the counter for other prep.
  • @chaysefaith‌ FX crossed for you today!
  • We always leave our crockpot on the counter. Never had an issue.

Beef stew in the crockpot! It smells so good I cannot wait for dinner

I love stews!!! I always say I need to use my slow cooker but I'm so scared of it!!

Do you just leave yours on the counter or do you put it on the stove so the heat won't hurt anything?

    ---end quote---

I've always left it on the counter, never even thought to put it on the stove lol

The thing is a lifesaver just throw anything in there and it'll be ready by dinner :)
  • Ok now I'm freaking out.. I called my dr's office and the front desk lady is leaving an urgent message for my nurse because she didn't answer and she'll call me back. I googled what happens when you're pregnant and in any type of accident, even small fender benders, and it said it could cause the placenta to detach or other injuries to the baby, especially after 12 weeks since it's not behind the pelvic bone anymore. The cramps are getting a little worse now too. I'm glued to my phone just waiting on that call for what I should do..
  • @janda426‌ I'm jealous. I love stews!

@MauiBliss‌ I put my crock pot on a glass hot plate/cutting board on the counter.
  • @MauiBliss I'm going to go ahead and assume our counters are laminate but I'm really not sure.  I even went and pulled the specs from when it was for sale and it doesn't say.

It gets really hot but as long as it's not touching anything it should be fine!

SO and I went and saw "This Is Where I Leave You" this weekend, and I definitely cried more than I would have if I wasn't pregnant. I even started crying on the way out of the theater just thinking about the damn movie!

I thought it was a really good movie, fyi, so anyone who likes comedy/drama, I definitely recommend it.

I LOVE cooking in the crockpot. SO got tired of it for a while and I haven't cooked anything *in the crockpot* in a few months. I love mine, and I have never even thought of it setting anything on fire. I always push it into a corner away from the edge of the counter and not near anything. I may have to cook something tomorrow. YUM. Also, stew sounds fantastic right now.

@MauiBliss - weird!  C is going off the list of foods we're not "supposed" to eat like deli meats, soft cheeses, etc.  She doesn't care about my sugar intake, but then I don't really crave sugar.  She gave me shit for eating too much red meat but then when I explained how it's probably one of the most iron rich foods out there - which pregnant women desperately need - she let up on it.  Every time she makes a comment on the food I eat I ask "You want to clean the cat box?"  That shuts her up ;)

Are you prone to GD or something?  If so I get your H's concerns, but otherwise, shit, eat that sugar!  I'm having my glucose tested on October 14th.  Boo.

I'm not prone, no. I think he keeps forgetting I'm not training for Ironman right now. I went from training to two half Ironman races to just working out lightly several days a week in the span of a week after my doc benched me from racing (I raced when I was 8 weeks). We are always so focused on race weight and calorie counting (more to be sure we are eating ENOUGH during training and that we're eating the right combination of nutrients for performance and recovery), that I think he's just not sure what to do with me now that I'm ok with skipping the spinach salad and having gummy bears and I'm only half-assed counting calories and not tracking my macros very well. I haven't really gained any weight yet and so we had the talk last night that he DOES know I'm going to get bigger, right?

Ohhhhhhhhhhh, that makes sense now.  Yeah, if you're both used to eating a certain way because you're athletes that's totally understandable.  It's probably jarring to see his health-nut wife eating gummy bears if that's not part of your usual diet ;) I say until he's able to get pregnant he should lay off because our metabolisms are just different now.  It's crazy.  I eat SO MUCH.  SO fucking MUCH.  I'm astonished at myself and kind of embarrassed.

I lost 4 pounds.  I swear, this child is leaching every calorie I consume and then shaving off some more from my fat reserves.  I can't eat enough to keep up.  My doctor praises me (because I'm not supposed to gain weight) and asks what I'm doing and I'm like "Oh, you know, just eating right and exercising!"

Last week for lunch I ate a fried chicken sandwich and a frozen macaroni and cheese meal with a donut for dessert.  It's like I'm a 15 year old boy or something.

These are clearly not my best choices but calorie-dense food seems to be the only thing that does it for me anymore.

  • I'm caught up!

So much love to @chaysefaith‌ !!

@wendyld we already chatted about this, but I'm just going to send some extra hugs :)

crockpots; I leave mine on the counter cooking while away from home all day. It is no less safe than leaving a lamp on. Just keep stuff away from it. Crock pots rock.

SOs commenting on eating: just no. I would NEVER accept commentary from my H in what I eat, but damn, especially during pregnancy. That crosses a line, IMO.

I can't remember what else I wanted to comment on...
  • @luckystarz‌ I don't blame you, I'd be pissed too.

@cinderella105‌ Sending lots of positive vibes. Update when you can.
  • Congrats @stepherly‌!! That's so sweet!

And yay @MauiBliss‌ for hearing that beautiful sound. :)

I have a day off today and it will be spent packing for our Disney trip. Food and wine fest bound! Well, just food for me. Anyway, H wants to starting eating healthier when we get back (which we really should do.) So I'm going to join him and eat healthy, which obviously means a trip to Hooters tonight to eat all the wings!! Moar ranch!!!!

The food and wine fest at Disney is so much fun. Im super jealous! Have a great time!!
  • @MrsLaurenandDan‌ Sending lots of positive vibes your way.
  • @stepherly That is absolutely the most awesome proposal ever. Yay!

My random is a story: I am a sausage.

I was so excited about the game yesterday I was going to wear one of my jerseys, thinking "this one is pretty big. It should still fit just fine. Maybe I'll have a cute little bump in it."

WRONG. I put it on and wriggled myself into it and when I looked in the mirror there was no cute bump. There was a lumpy sausage-looking woman in my mirror stuffed into a Clay Matthews jersey.

I said very sadly "I'm a sausage..." and my BF just laughed at me. It was pretty funny. We went out for donuts for breakfast so I could forget my first world problems.

At least my Seahawks won (which I can't admit out loud in real life because I live in Denver).

  • Thanks ladies. I'm not sure why my nurse didn't just say to come to the office, but I'm at the hospital waiting in the lobby. I don't feel good. I'm dizzy and nauseous but that's probably because I'm so nervous and stressing. I'll let you know what happens and I'll keep in mind the ER may misdiagnose and just wait to hear from my OB. Thanks again for the comments.
  • @stepherly Congratulations!!!!

@chaysefaith‌ That is awesome! Hoping the day goes by fast!

@wendyld‌ I'm glad you are TTC again. I'm sorry for no definite answers though...

@cinderella105‌ Sending good vibes! I'm sure it is okay and that the ER is a precaution. Keep us posted!

I'm kind of geeking out because I may get to use some data for program evaluation that I originally didn't think I'd get to because some people were really against the idea of using it; but it would be such good data to use and analyze!

I'm a rather thick lady so my pre-pregnancy diet was already pretty terrible lol... Well, not *terrible* but I'm used to eating calorie-dense foods, which is probably why I'm having a hard time "keeping up" with my newfound metabolism.  I've talked to other chunky friends of mine who had kids and they experienced the same thing.  Since we're already used to eating heartier then our slender sisters, when our need increases it's either equal to or more than our appetite's capacity.  In that sense, I am lucky.  However, I am *not* supposed to gain weight and I start at a disadvantage being at an increased risk for GD and preeclampsia.

  • @chilibeansm0m‌ Your announcement is so cute!
  • My random is someone in NY was using my credit card a few weekends back and I had to cancel it and need to file a claim in person after work. Thankfully it was only roughly $250. A part of me wants to say what a shitty thief! But on the other hand im obviously happy thats all they took.
  • @jurrasicrabbit - I felt the same way until I started wearing maternity pants.  I had to keep compressing my invisible baby bump and stuffing it into too-tight pants with the zipper unfastening itself every 1/2 hour.  It just looks like a new fat roll.  Adorable.

But now that I'm in my maternity pants I feel like a whale.  A happy, comfortable, expanding whale.  I don't look very sexy.  Kind of like a lumpy potato sack.  But soon my shirts will be distended and I'll have to buy maternity shirts.  Holding off on those because I don't want people to notice, and nothing says "I'm pregnant" more than a billowy shirt that's snug on the boobs and big in the tummy.
