Mary Kate

Hi All! This is my first time posting and I am a month from my due date! I keep finding myself going back to the name "Mary Kate" but don't want to involve family and friends in the decision. Looking for honest opinions on the name. Thank you!

    I really like Mary Kate. Even prettier is Mary Katherine nn Mary Kate.

    I love it! It is very fresh sounding. I personally would go with Mary Katherine ," but we will be calling her Mary Kate" .......love it!

    I like it!  And I agree with PPs who suggest Mary Katherine and go with Mary Kate

    I thought the same! I'm actually a fan of double names but I automatically think of the Olsens w/Mary Kate. It is nice name though.

    I do think of the Olsen's but probably your child and her peers won't (though other parents will). But who cares? Its beautiful ;)

    I think of the Olsen twins and also I don't like double names. That said, there's nothing wrong with two beautiful names.

    I too immediately thought Olsen. I don't usually love double names but I do love Mary Kate or any Mary names. Though I do really just love Mary all by itself.

    LOVE LOVE LOVE!!  I also like the suggestion of Mary Katherine nn Mary Kate.  I wanted to name DD Mary Beth, so I love that too.

    I thought of the Olsen Twins too.. and Mary Katherine makes me think of Saturday Night Live.. Very pretty names but thats what I think of the second I hear it.

    Mary Kate is cute but I'm generally not a fan of double names, esp those with Mary: Mary Anne, Mary Beth, Mary Jane. I think it has to do with my grandma's obsession with the Virgin Mary. She went so far as to give all 6 of her daughter's a derivative of the name Mary.

    Clearly it's tapping into a personal irritant of mine so disregard. :-)
