@kefttsc I think if you present a name as "the names are picked and they are X" it's just NOT open for discussion. The only acceptable response is "I love it!" If you say something like "We're thinking about x or y" then sure, make suggestions all day and night. But once it's decided, it's not your place to comment.
I hate people.
Exactly!!!! We said, "hey we decided on names and they are XYZ!"
Proper responses include:
I love them!
How wonderful!
So special!
Thanks for naming your kid after my dead husband!
Thanks for giving your kid my middle name!
Cool, after your favorite author!

Twins? You mean two babies? WOW!
Team PURPLE!!
We are excited to meet William Alexander and Harper Abigail in 2015!
@kefttsc I love your names. William is high on our list right now and abigail would of been for a girl they are classics. Unfortunately people seriously DO NOT know how to respond positively when you say names. They always feel the need change it in some way, no matter what. I think it's a physiological reaction, cause it seriously never fails. Doesn't matter age, gender, ethnicity, race everyone has a comment.
When someone tells me a name i always saw something like awww thats sweet or great name. I may secretly give them the side eye but hey its not my kid so i should keep my mouth shut unless asked. My youngest sister picks some interesting names.
I obviously dont follow that rule on the interwebs

There is a nice juicy booger stuck in my upper nose, and no amount of blowing or tissue shoving is getting it out. Its the most frustrating feeling ever. I wish I had a q-tip I could ram in there real quick.
I feel like I look like a coke addict, with the amount of sniffling/nose twitching Im sitting at work doing.
Currently making a contraption with a piece of paper towel, some spit, and a paper clip.

I finally am taking my doggy for her walk, but got way too winded and had to sit down. I'm only halfway!!! Now she's making me throw the ball while I breathe. Poor girl!
@jaztastic, how did the McGyver contraption work? Is your nose clear yet?
IT WORKED!!! Other than the minor nose bleed from the sharpness of the paper clip, Im doing good.
Note to self: Use a little more paper towel next time.

Yeah I it's not a hard and fast rule lol (just a bunch of early morning generizations that weren't well thought out). But, it always seems like there's always a bunch that don't know how to respond well. Not to mention, it always seems to be the ones that hurt the most because it's people you care about. I do think once people have experienced this they tend to know the proper way to react when someone tells them a name.
Omg @jaztastic im rotf lmao at the booger mcguyvering. whatever works right?!

And as an Abigail myself, yes, if you called your daughter that, everyone would eventually call her Abby or Abs or some variant. I personally go by Abby and like it, but I totally get your reasoning, and if you don't like it, I would definitely (not that you weren't going to!) stick to your guns here.
I have to say, you've helped me though -- we were total sticklers about not telling anyone our daughter's name before she was born, even though we had it picked out for months. We ended up telling just our parents about a month before she was born, but after a while of saying we were keeping it quiet, plus our parents are relatively respectful people, so they sorta knew that we were like, "we're telling you, but don't you dare say anything not positive." Our friends, we said nothing to before she was born.
Some part of me this time thinks we were too restrictive/paranoid about it, and I've already had friends ask me if we'd tell them when we decided (they told us their daughters' names almost immediately after deciding)... and I'm thinking no. It's SO tempting, but it's also so nice to have it just be your secret thing with your significant other, plus, as you've sadly found out -- people think that you're bringing it up to them for their opinion, which... no. no. no. no.
On another note, I would like to know why, as soon as I've started sleeping much better every night, my cat and the neighbor's dog have conspired to start making copious amounts of whiny noise at exactly 15-minutes-before-my-alarm-goes-off. X(

I have been really down in the dumps for about a week now and I am thinking it could be from not sleeping well combined with pregnancy aches and pains. I finally got out of the house this weekend and did some shopping for littles, nothing crazy, just some sleepers. Then I realized that I must be the worst girl mom ever, I feel like it is so hard to shop for her. Our little boy has a ton of stuff because it is so much easier to shop for him. I keep trying to buy boys clothes for her with "i'll just put a bow on her head" intentions, if it weren't for DH she wouldn't have anything girly.

I agree with this. This is how we told people the names we pucke before knowing the sex. We didn`t say thus is what we are thinking of it was always these are the names we choose fir either sex. No one ever said anythi.g other than when I said if its a boy we`ll call him Danny. My inlaws instantly went on how they hated that.
I am so tired. Im not anemic and.my iron levels are really high. Idk why I feek, this way everyday. Someone suggested it was my blood pressure.

@KristinMTBell Ohh…you're smart for taking your thyroid meds in the middle of the night. I struggle with not being able to eat first thing in the morning because of mine.
@kefttsc I also love your names. Sorry your family is being difficult. Like some others have said, this is one of the reasons I plan on keeping the name secret until birth. Hopefully when the baby is already born and named, people will leave their opinions out of it.
I had my OB checkup this morning. All was well! Two days until A/S!
Pandora is sucking the life out of my work computer. I keep getting scrpt errors. How else can I stream music at work without having a slow computer?
I dunno. But it's draining my phone battery (we can't listen to it on our work computer) and I need music to survive. Plus the little diva loves music. She kicks like crazy on certain songs
My random... I was craving chocolate creme filled cupcake and funyuns for breakfast.. so I ate them. Needless to say... MS reared is ugly head and has been since 9:00 (after eating the concoction) I guess baby girl didn't like it... Smh...
This weekend was definitely successful! I got some alone time to go shopping (anytime I get to go shopping without DD, it's a good day.) I pinned the curtains I'm making for LO's nursery, and got a throw pillow ready. All I have to do is hem them all, and I will officially feel like I've got something done for baby. I'm sure I'll AW my pics.
DD was also an angel all weekend, and getting ready for school this morning. It was a nice break form the usual, and getting showered with hugs and kisses from your sweet 2 year old is just the best!
Aside from that, my back has been hurting something awful lately. Not sciatica pain (which I also have), but mid-low back pain that just paralyzes me. I had this pain in the third trimester with DD...but never this early. It has me concerned that I need to get a move on my to-do list because I may be unable to do this stuff when I have time off in december like I had planned.
One of the greatest things I ever do is remember to take my thyroid medicine in the middle of the night. I did that last night, so I woke up and could immediately have coffee!!! Of course, I remembered thanks to annoying insomnia, but I really don't care right now.
@PeaceofKia feel better soon!
I HATE when I forget to take my medicine until I'm leaving the house in the morning and heating up my breakfast.
Pandora is sucking the life out of my work computer. I keep getting scrpt errors. How else can I stream music at work without having a slow computer?
Maybe iHeartRadio... but if Pandora is slowing you down, iheart will probably too

I really hope this baby is a girl. Otherwise it'll take me forever to get in the habit of saying he and finding boy stuff. DH, my mom and all my siblings have been saying her and she non stop. It's too the point that I'm thinking of the unknown in my uterus as feminine.
Random question that the shower thread made me think of - Family was in town this weekend. They brought me a few maternity clothes. I opened the gift, but did not try them on while they were there. I did smile and thank them a few times.
Is that rude?
To be perfectly honest, I don't think that the shirts are my taste, plus I think the pants are going to be too small. But I did not say, nor did I even hint this.
I see no reason that you need to model clothing for them. If it was a birthday/christmas present you wouldn't be expected to try things on immediately,

IMO saying thank you is all that is required. My girlfriend gave me a bag of maternity clothes on Saturday, I said thank you and I have yet to open the bag up. I cant do that in front of people because I feel like I will show them how I really feel on my face, and godforbid its NMS.

@jaztastic - your nose situation made me throw up in my mouth a little but also el oh el (I refuse to use text shorthand under any circumstances). Thanks for that.
I just posted a "20 weeks, halfway there" bump pic on Facebook at the request of DH and I'm already regretting it. I never ever post anything and now I feel like a huge attention whore. Ugh, social media sucks.
Whats wrong with your FB pic? I dont like woman who post every day, every stage, every step of the pregnancy. But mentioning it once in a while shouldnt isnt bad. I made a halfway there post on Friday (no pic attached).

Why nit yave a shopping trip where you focus only on buying girl things? That way you dont feel luke you have to buy an equal amount of boy and girl things each shopping trip? Might be easier on you.

Woke up, still sick this morning. Going on over a week. Went to Urgent Care yesterday and was told that there was nothing they can do for my cough. I can have Robotussin, hydrocodone and some honey, and neither are working. I haven't slept in 4 days and I can't breathe. Boo!
My boss is being ass this morning as well. Definitely a Monday!
Good news for today is that it's FINALLY feeling a tiny bit like Fall! Especially in the mornings. Mmmhmm!

ETA: A big woot woot to the Chargers win yesterday!
Went out with the girls last night to celebrate my friend getting married. It was fun! But I got home late, went to bed late, and DS decided to get up at 4:10am. Oh joy! Coffee is doing it's job right now, but I have to believe I am going to crash at some point today.
Sorry I've been absent. I have a lot on my plate and I'm trying to be good and do my work. I got 95% of my accounting done!
In other news, we might be able to get in our front door again soon. DH is almost done with building the front deck.
Unfortunately, we might be using the garage to the side door anyway, since the front door comes right in to the living room on the hardwood. And hardwood and west coast rain don't mix.
People need to keep their moutsd shut about name choices and opinions. When I chose the name Adeline and I announced to people at least 25% of the people said "Ohhh, are you going to call her Addie?" Which I found really weird. Her name is Adeline, we may call her Addie occasionally, but why would your very first response be to give her a nickname?
Speaking of DD, she is trying to cut back to one nap a day and I'm fighting it, HARD. Normal routine is to nap for 1.5-3 hours about 2 hours after she gets up, then down for another nap about 3 hours after she wakes up from the first. Now she is sleeping later in the morning (waking up around 8:30) and not going to sleep until 12, and we're lucky if we get a 2 hour nap. She's cranky by 6:30 and ready for bed by 7:30. Can't I just keep her from growing up?
F15 Siggy Challenge: What You're Looking Forward to Most After Baby Arrives: BELLY SLEEPING!
I am adding things to my registry and I am stuck on the diaper bag. Do I go with a cute girlie one because its a girl or a plain black one because dh will be the one that usually takes her to and from daycare? He is a very manly type guy. If I ask him he will probably say he doesn't care.
@CrazyCornball yeah that was my thought today during the hour that she fought sleep and played in her crib. If I knew she wasn't going down until later I could have done something this morning! It's just hard in this transition save because I don't know when she's tired. I think I'm just going to aim for getting her down to sleep at 12 every day and plan around that.
F15 Siggy Challenge: What You're Looking Forward to Most After Baby Arrives: BELLY SLEEPING!
@WanderingA - I found that once DD went to one nap, it was a lot easier to plan the day. She also started going to bed earlier, which was nice for a while. My DD is now fighting her one nap and I'm sure it will be gone in the next few months. It's making me very, very sad. I had visions of both kids napping at the same time, and it's not going happen.
My DS is going to take two naps until he goes to college, we can NOT get him to make the switch,
Ugh, I kinda wonder if I ate something bad. My tummy hurts and its different from stretching pains. On a better note, my entire team is traveling overseas, I refused to go anywhere so I'm the only one left in the office. I'm still lingering in bed at 9.
I got to work at 8:15 this morning and was probably finished with all my important work by 10am. Now at noon the rest of the day is glaring at me and I have no idea what I'll do to keep busy. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled beyond belief to have this job and the income and the opportunities it provides our family. I just struggle with boredom.
