We have 2 dogs and I made little signs that say "Big Brother" and "Big Sister" with a separate one saying "Baby C April 2015."

It was cute in theory. However, the dogs were being turds the day we were trying to do the pic, and the best I could get was one of them both barking. We actually have decided to use it b/c it looks like they are reacting to being told about the small human coming. Since they're both my babies right now, they're pissed. It's a better story. ;-)

We aren't announcing until our anniversary on October 1st. So, I guess I have more time to get a better pic but I probably won't, to be honest.

...my fear. I thought of using that idea and instantly thought "Like Sanford would ever sit still for that"...and kept thinking. I think you should leave the one you have! It doesn't sound if you saw the picture, they'd be saying "YOU'RE WHAATTT?"! lol

I had to take at least 20 pictures of my dog, and went through a lot of treats! Lol!

  • We were TTC while in Florida on vacation. We bought T-shirts from Universal Studios: (think Dr. Seuss) A "Mother of All Things", A "Father of all Things", Thing 1 and 2 shirts for my boys, and a Thing 3 onesie for the baby (that we are now expecting).

The family and I  wore our shirts to a church picnic and I had the onesie tucked under my shirt. I had my step-mother, who is a photographer, take a few pics of us, then I said "Oh that's great! Can you take a few more?" We got back into our poses, but this time I lifted up my shirt to show the "Thing 3" onesie peeking out from under my shirt. (It was on my belly...I didn't flash the whole church or anything. Ha ha) Once I get to my actual computer, I'll post a picture.

Pinterest has some great ideas too. :)

Children are a blessing from the Lord!

  • Most of our family and close friends already know but we plan to do a fall photo shoot with the dogs,  baby shoes, and perhaps pumpkins....not sure how it will all work out yet :)

I love the phrase "my parents are getting us a human!"  especially since one of my boys goes NUTS every time I play the babies heartbeat for him from our last sonno!

  • For my first, we sent a bouquet of flowers to my parents with a poem: roses are red, violets are blue, we have some special news to share with you. Get ready for bottles, diapers and fun... Because we are expecting our first little one!

My parents loved it... They kept the card and dried the flowers and put it in the baby book they made of our first.

For this baby I am going to let our first baby tell for us. :)
  • We are giving the parents grandparent frames with the u/s pic. For my sister (since they live farther away and we can't tell them in person): i got a shirt for my little nephew that says "you mess with my cousin, you mess with me" and am going to show her over skype. For friends/fb reveal we were gonna take some kind of cute/funny picture, but haven't gotten around to that yet.

  • We are doing an Easter theme - my daughter is 3 and im going to have her with her big sis shirt on and an Easter basket holding a pink and blue egg. (I'm due right at Easter) and then it will
Say "hippity hoppity baby #2 is on the way!" ETA Easter 2015
  • We are doing a big reveal for DH ' S sisters only. Both our parents and my sister already know. I will be 12 weeks on Monday and my birthday is in 2 weeks but we'll be out of town. So we planned a family dinner and will come back to the house for cake. The cake is going to have baby blocks on it and say "happy birthday mommy. I'll see you in April"
If we find out to the sex this week (I did Panorama) before we order the cake, we will color it pink or blue.

After That our parents have permission to tell the masses. Around my birthday I plan to put a picture on facebook of a onesie I made that says "Future Packers Fan. Begins cheering April 2015"

  • I'm not really into "cutsie" reveals- NMS.
My Mom was recently diagnosed with cancer and I'm planning on telling her at her first chemo appt. No big elaborate announcement. Just a "Hey...things are crappy for you right now but you have to look forward to April because you are going to be a grandma again!"

This just made me tear up! So sorry to hear about your mom and sending healing thoughts. What a great way to surprise her!
  • I told my close friends and family right away. We had lots of support and I figured if we lost baby Id be way too depressed to go through it alone. As for everyone else, I got a henna tattoo! (Don't worry totally safe, I learned many moms to be who are much more pregnant than us do this all the time called belly blessings.)
  • We did the "Big brother Murphy" bandana for our lab for my parents, gramma, and his mom at 6wks since we were all together. Told his dad/smom, bro, my bro and sis over the phone. (All separate convos) My other bro got a "Happy Bday, Uncle" card, which btw took him foreeeeeever to figure out. He's 22.

@4shleigh‌ - we had a bit of that with his dad. A pain to get him in skype. Try and double wrap it with the inner one labeled "don't open til we can explain as you open via skype. It's Japanese and you'll just be confused. Promise."

Not huge on the cutesie thing.... But for fb, since we're so mobile and both athletes, it's either:

    A) shirts that say Made in WI, Made in NH, Made in Indonesia.

    or

    B) a picture of me, all fat, at the end of a race with a caption along the lines of "I thought running was supposed to help you lose weight....... Whoops?"
I do like the passed by a pregnant girl shirt!

I love this idea over and over again. It's perfect for my mom & grandma! I might steal it :)
  • We told our immediate family right away. We told extended family at 8w. I'm waiting for my next appointment tomorrow and if everything goes well I'm using one of these for FB (I can't decide which!). I will be 12w4d then.

Honestly i didn't do anything special last time. But this time i think it'd be funny to do something with my daughter about her lack of big sister skills and how she has "6 more months" to work them out.

I've picked up photography as a hobby since she was born. So i just think it'd be something fun to practice with

I saw an announcement once where the daughter was wearing a cute camo outfit and there was a big sign in the background that said "Big Sister Boot Camp." The little girl was changing a diaper on a doll... There were also a couple other things set up like a feeding station, and a chart about how to get out of trouble. It was really cute.

i'm actually thinking more like getting a picture of her dunking dolls in the toilet. or not sharing something. or her just throwing a huge tantrum with the caption "we told her she's gonna be a big sister."

This is our humor too! We have an excellent picture of DD throwing a huge tantrum, which she does often so I see it fitting to use as our reveal, with something like "E Just found out she's going to be a big sister "
  • With DD, we went out to dinner with our parents. H went to take a photo, but it was actually video. He said say cheese. Then he said say Julie's pregnant. I love having their reactions documented.
  • I'm an a-hole, so just tell people that I think actually care. That's it.
  • I love everyone's ideas! We've already told a few friends and family members. For my parents, I was talking to them on the phone and texted my mom a picture of my positive tests. I got DH's parents children's books and put a poem on top. I gave my BFF a mug that says Best.Aunt.Ever on it and tonight we're telling my grandma and brother/Sil/nephew via Skype. I got my nephew a shirt that says Best . cousin . ever.

For our FB announcement in 2 weeks I'm going to make my cover photo a pumpkin with "coming April 2015" painted on it and my profile picture us holding our u/s picture. We're doing a photo shoot next weekend.

  • I LOVE wine and my whole family knows it! To tell them we bought each couple a bottle of wine with a tag that said "drink this for me I'll join you in 9 months" and added Baby [last name] coming April 2015. Haven't decided how to do a Facebook announcement just yet...
  • We had a photo shoot this afternoon. We're still friendly with our wedding photographer, and he gave us a good deal. We took lots of different pictures, but I think our favs are the ones with the green baby converse - so stinkin' cute!
  • We told our family right away and just posted on social media yesterday.
