Creative multitasking breastfeeding!

This morning I did my hair and put on makeup while baby was feasting away on the boppy. Got me thinking of things I've learned to do (or tried to do) while feeding her.

-TV
-Internet
-eating
-skyping family or phone calls
-pumping other boob
-cutting/gluing pictures in her baby book
-tried feeding another baby a bottle (didn't work)
-walking to another room
-hair and makeup
-Clipping her nails or mine
-accidental napping

I have a friend who feeds in her carrier during walks...I aspire to do this!

Re: Creative multitasking breastfeeding!

  • With DD1 I always had to be in my specific seat with my boppy or other pillows all set up and she had to be in a specific position. This time I can feed DD2 anywhere, doing anything. My best so far: making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and also potty training DD1. I just hold her on with one hand and do what needs to be done with the other.

You ladies are my idols.... I'm a FTM and I just barely attempted walking about two feet while nursing to grab the remote! lol

Walking is rare for me and she usually comes unlatched. We use a shield though and she latches/unlatches often anyways it seems.

  • Wow that is impressive! I have to hold the boob with one hand, and most of the time I have to hold her head so she doesn't pull on off (and pull my nipple in the process) when she's gassy/fussy.

  • Awesome. I have done so much more this time then I did while nursing with DD. 2x this week I have nursed in a carrier while chasing DD. The other day I picked up DD and handled a tantrum while nursing.

I'm jealous of those who can walk and nurse too. No way can I do that. But I think it's because of the giant boobs. I'm a H/I and my nipple would slip down and out of her mouth if I walked. You ladies that walk, are your boobs on the smaller side? And by small I mean DD or less.

woohoo I just did this for the first time! We were walking home from date night downtown and I just knew LO wasn't going to make it. Yes my boobs are small (A cup) but actually i think that made it harder. I had to lift it UP to DS's mouth until his latch could hold me in place. Highly recommend giving it a try, I never thought I could.

I'm normally a large B cup, now a D. I'm sure this makes it easier! (for the whole 3 steps I went anyway! Lol)

  • I can do lots of stuff while nursing but walking a bunch still stresses me out since DS spit up/threw up all over me when I was walking and nursing. Sigh. Hopefully soon we'll master it.
  • @SherryBaby2014‌ I am most impressed by the scrapbooking and hair and makeup! So far I've only been able to walk and eat while nursing. LO is just so heavy for one arm!
We almost always use a boppy. If she's positioned right then I'm hands free! Key is having things on hand next to me on a side table. Also big boobs...so when they're in position they don't move too much.

  • That's awesome! I would love to multitask But I don't think I can. I could be wrong but I feel like my boobs aren't made for it lol. If I move the latch just isn't right.
