**update** Question for all you internet strangers

edited September 2014 in December 2014 Moms
So... Let's say I was having contractions and getting worried (5 minutes apart, non-painful, didn't stop after getting up and moving around) should I a) call my mw first, b) go to the nearest hospital (5 minutes away), or c) go to the hospital my mw works through (15 minutes away)?

Oh my goodness I have been trying to update all day but the mobile app kept crashing on me. Anyways, I laid in the tub for a while. It was so hard to relax while freaking out. But I stayed in until the water turned chillly. The contractions tapered in the tub but when I got out I had one really strong one. I laid back in bed to see what would happen and ended up passing out. So far it's been a pretty normal day in terms of frequency so I think all is better. My mw said that as long as there wasn't any bloody show and they weren't painful that it wasn't too much to worry about. She was more worried about possible dehydration being the cause. I was sure I was hydrated enough but maybe not. Thank you all for your advice and concern. I really appreciate it as I don't have a whole lot of support here in the real world. You are all so amazing and I'm so grateful!

  • All good choices but definitely get going if you're worried. Call ASAP or hop in the car...

    Hope everything is fine!

  • Probably call mw and ask her which hospital to go to?
  • Call MW and ask her what to do. If she doesn't answer, go to the hospital where you will deliver.

  • I would put a call in and then do what @twolittledogs suggested. If you don't get a response or they don't stop in an hour go to the hospital.

I would definitely be headed to the hospital. Rather be safe than sorry!

  • I would drink a full glass of water and lay down on my left side for an hour, but that's what my doctor instructed me to do if I had several non-painful contractions (Braxton hicks) in a row.

  • I sure hope this is a case of no news is good news but I'm kind of worried for OP. With the discharge and contractions happening within a day of each other, I'm thinking this might not be good.

Please check in if you aren't at the hospital!!
  • I hope all is well. FX the contractions stop.

  • Ok I looked at OPs post history and almost every post has been a medical question. I'm not sure what the deal is here but I'm hoping everything is ok. It would be nice to get an update!

Why did you change the title to "updated" but it appears you deleted the update?

    Test
  • @RaeChay‌ - I think the period was just to bump the thread. Her update is in the OP. :)

@nextworldwonder‌ - Glad to hear everything is calm now! Fingers crossed it was just dehydration.

I thought the same thing...However OP literally "passing out" is still not a good thing and should be mentioned to your medical professional.

  • Yeah, I was hoping the "passing out" thing just meant "fell right asleep."

I am too...but figured better safe than sorry. If she was dehydrated literal passing out is a potential as well.

    Test
  • Sorry for the confusion. I did just fall asleep. Normally I'm in bed before 9 but by the time this calmed down it was close to midnight. Waaay past my bedtime
